I have a more powerful computer than that and I can game on it for 24 hours straight without it overheating.

So you should have no worries.

You have a more powerful computer than me?  I seriously doubt it.

Dude, your CPU isn't overclocked, you have only 2 GPUs, one HDD that's not even in Raid, not mentioning it's not SSD...  you are nowhere near close the top of the world dude, that's just a bit more expensive mainstream you have there, I'm pretty sure there's a lot of people on these forums with more powerful machines than you :innocent:

It's not overclocked because it doesn't need to be.  It's already insanely fast as it is.  I may just have 2 GPUs but we're talking about 2 Radeon 5870's here.
Also, the Velociraptor drive is only just a tad slower than an SSD which is a fair trade off considering it has more space than any SSD.
I don't doubt that there are a few people who have faster computers but definetly not on these forums.

Here is a video of my invincible computer for those who don't believe me.

Even a really beefy PC can have bad cooling problems, it depends on your build.   Not to mention the area you have it and time of year (summer *cough*)   So thats not always the case.

It's not wild for me to suppose that somebody with a 2k+ USD gaming rig lives in a house that is well insulated (+AC) and independant of the climate outside.  So the time of year shouldn't be a factor.

It's also not wild for me to suppose that the cooling system his high-end enthusiast rig has allows his computer to go on for 12 hours on IDLE.

The only way his computer would be having problems is if his house has excessive dust or/and he doesn't give his rig any sort of space for ventilation and it's causing hardware failure (fans, etc).

It would be a factor if he did'nt have AC or no ventelation, as you said.     At anyrate a question about dust,  my xbox just red ringed so I took it apart before shipping it back to Microsoft, and there was a fair ammount of dust inside.  (Which I do have it elevated off the ground on the sides and it dose have ventatlation room.)

So I was wondering about my PC how often would you clean your PC out for dust, I know you can use a certain type of air compressor but is there any methods you prefer.

You're making quite a reputation for yourself with that arrogant and superior behaviour of yours...

Not that it's my problem, though...

Wow, not only are you a pompous ass, you are a -stupid- pompous ass.

Firstly, you in no way have "one of the most powerful computers in the world". You have an above average desktop which is obviously being wasted.

Secondly, no properly built computer will overheat just sitting idle or doing basic processes. My main system usually stays on for weeks at a time.

If it gets too hot, just deflect the heat away from it with your sword.

Well unless your cooling system isn't properly set up then it should stay quite stable. I've done this before to leave 3D renders goign or to leave virus scans going and my pc handle it with no problem. Even my Dad's second PC which he uses as a net server is never shut down and it's fine.

My computer is one of the most powerful in the world.  Didn't you read the specs?  I have a core I7 870 and there are only two processors which are superior.  As for my GPU, only one GPU, the 5970 is superior and two 5870's score higher than one 5970.

My 8-core Mac Pro eats your Falcon Talon for breakfast.

That said, I can't even remember when I turned of my Mac Pro for the last time. I think it's running 24/7 for 3 months straight now, which is ofcourse no problem for a Mac Pro. ;-)

It is air cooled with a Freezer 7 pro rev 2 which is pretty good but I don't know if it was good enough to prevent long term damage due to any possible overheated circuits or what not.

If you're really worried about overheating, you should upgrade to a liquid heat exchange system.  As your system stands, you don't have much to worry about unless you run it in an enclosed environment with no ventilation.

Well, the computer's air vents are all exposed.  Still, overheating does scare me.  I'm thinking about upgrading to a liquid cooling system but I would have to get a really good one because I don't want it leaking.

Bootcamp my friend, Bootcamp. I can run the superior Mac OS X to do all my graphic-intensive work like 3d-modelling in Maya, editing movies in Final Cut Pro and drawing in Adobe Photoshop (unlike you I actually WORK for my money), then when I feel like gaming I reboot to Windows XP thanks to Apple's Bootcamp, to play some Crysis and Far Cry 2 on maximum graphics.

@BJ: You do realize the size of your (e-)penis is in constant decline, right?
Perhaps you should post the size of your TV to boost it again!
Or hang out with the guys for some serious "water sports".

Every true gamer knows that Bootcamp is just a flawed, buggy, emulated version of Windows.  Apples are for teenage girls anyways.  Real men use PCs with Windows 7.

Every person who knows even just a littlebit about computers knows that a computer can't overheat by just standing there being idle for 24 hours. Especially not your "superior" Falcon Talon. So please, don't even start on trying to take me on when it comes to computers and "real gamers", because you clearly know nothing on that subject.

Bootcamp does not emulate Windows btw, I guess you confuse Bootcamp with VMWare or Parallels Desktop.
Bootcamp is just a utility from Apple that installs the right drivers on your Windows partition so Windows recognizes all the Apple hardware from the Mac it's running on.
But I guess all that is nothing but abra-kadabra for a computer newb like you.

PS: Teenage girls can't even affort a Mac, because they are expensive. And no, I'm not a Mac fanboy, I'm sort of forced to use Macs because I'm a multimedia designer, I'm an artist who does freelance work such as 3d-moddeling, concept art, movie editing and animation for a living. I need good computers who can run those graphic-intensive programs I use. A Mac is my best bet, expecially because Windows can't even run the programs I use.

First of all, my concern with over heating is simply due to have never owning a computer as powerful as the one I have today.  I have vast technical expertise when it comes to computers.  I can infiltrate high security compounds by disabling their security systems at any computer terminal.
You're also wrong about Bootcamp.  Bootcamp actually is an emulation software that treats Windows like a rom.  It is functional enough but as with all emulated software there will be bugs.  There is no legitimate version of windows for Apple hardware as it is not supported.
Most teenage girls cannot afford macs but the only people I've heard of who actually use them are spoiled teenage girls.  If it weren't for Ipod sales Apple would've declared bankruptcy long ago.

You go ahead and use your mac for your technical labour.  That is your place in society.  My computer is strictly for leisure activity as I answer to a greater calling in life.

Dude come on, get real. :-P This isn't even funny anymore... wait, actually it is.

You know nothing about computers if you didn't know your Falcon Talon is well equiped with a really good case and some extremely powerful heat-sinks. Every newb can see that by looking at your specs.

And no, you're wrong about bootcamp, it does not emulate Windows. Like I said, Bootcamp helps you installing a legit Windows OS (no special version needed, just a regular Windows XP, Vista or 7) on your Mac. It also installs al the drivers you need, so you can run Windows natively and smoothly on your Mac. My Mac actually runs Windows better than most regular PC's do.

But yeah, if you don't want to take the word from a former Apple Mac Store employee, then maybe you should take a look here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boot_Camp_%28software%29

"Boot Camp is a utility included with Apple Inc.'s Mac OS X v10.5 "Leopard" and v10.6 "Snow Leopard" operating systems that assists users in installing Microsoft Inc.'s Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating systems on Intel-based Macintosh computers."

Of course it is equipped with good cooling but we're talking about one of the most powerful setups the world has ever seen.  I spent 3600 dollars on the computer so of course I'm taking precautions.

And no, you're wrong about bootcamp.  All it is is just a tool which gives you a half assed, buggy, un supported version of windows.  Basically it's just like a pirated copy of windows for Mac users who are trying to compensate for the fact that they just wasted a bundle of money on an over-hyped waste of plastic and silicon.

You payed 3600 bucks for your Falcon Talon? HAHA, DAMN, YOURE RIPPED OFF, HAHAHAHAHHA!

Sorry dude, but the hardware in your computer is not worth much more than 2600 dollars at most. And no, it's not that superior. My friend has build his own computer which eats yours for breakfast. Heck, even my 8-core Mac Pro does (which costed me 3999 goddamn bucks btw).

And about bootcamp. This is a silly yes,no,yes,no,yes,no discussion. I know I'm right and if you think you can smartass me with your blunt lies about your fake knowledge about bootcamp, be my guess, but don't think you can fool me. I'm more educated on this subject than you are, that is something I'm hella sure about after I've read this entire topic and after I've seen how little you actually know about computers. Man, you didn't even know you're i7 processor in your Falcon Talon is just a 2.9ghz i7 chip that's overclocked to 3.3ghz. Maybe you should read the description of the product before you're blindly go buying stuff without even knowing what you're buying. Just a tip: look for some benchmark tests and see what REALLY is the best hardware available, before you're buying a computer.
