Here's the (limited) debug I got from my latest Archdemon crash a few minutes ago:

Unhandled exception at 0x00792afe in daorigins.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000

Null pointer?

Happened right when the archdemon got to 50%.

I'm going to try again and then reinstall DAO and patch only up to 1.02. Maybe that will work. Sigh.

2 gigs of RAM.

I was able to finally beat the archdemon by alt-tabbing to the desktop every 5 minutes or so. Weird.

I will admit to being a computer idiot but my brand new computer was operating beautifully before the 1.03 patch. Now it not only crashes during battles, but anytime there are battle special effects from spellcasting or bombs, (if it does not crash) it emits a high pitch squeal from my computer until I turn the screen off and then on. I do not get why and am afraid of damage to my computer. The sound is not from the speakers but the computer itself.

Hey all just wanted to post to let you know wiping the old nvidia gfx drivers clean and installing the 197.45 drivers seems to have stopped my crashing. Your mileage may vary.

I've tried re-installing drivers, alt-tabbing, pleading, etc. The game is basically useless. Thanks for that, BioWare.

yup me too............with forceware beforce v197.45whql..............there is a single CTD............. but, with forceware v197.45whql, there is no single CTD anymore.........

but, still with this driver, there is some or many slowdown n LAG for heavy combat...........
no solution at all, right now??.............

The game has just started dropping fps from 60fps to about 2fps. no I am not exaggerating i have never had a single crash or any problems what so ever. before awakening came out and I installed the 1.03 patch off of the disk.

I am having similar problems. I have spent 90 - 100 hours on this game and it has been crashing intermittently since I installed the 1.03 patch. It hasn't been a HUGE deal but now I am fighting the archdemon and it just keeps crashing. This is driving me absolutely nuts, I just want to finish this game. This seems to happen when I am in battle and engage a powerful spell / skill.

I give up this now after 20 tries for the endboss on the roof the game crashes every time i have the boss at 20% health it crash and the game is so slow that it is almost impossible to do anything and all the Dwarfs and so on i summoned only stay there and do nothing so we get overwelmed with the adds who kill the whole party almost and the Dwarfs then the game crash ofc...

I'm really pissed off. Just build a US$1.500,00 rig to play DA:O and ME2 and I can't even start the game. I'm running (at least trying) the game on Steam and it is patched to 1.03. The uninstall option in the DA Launcher doesn't highlight, but I don't know if it's due to Steam. I've also already checked the integrity of the files via Steam

Bump. Never had any problems with Dragon Age. But I built a new rig. Installed DA:O to play the darkspawn chronicles. And it is just plain unstable, crashes every few minutes:

I am joining the crash test dummies. Crash at 5 to 10 min depends one in fight or not. Had no crash problem before I installed awakning. Have 1.03 patch also. Using ATI prossor and windows 7.0.
