Crashes for me as well. I've tried cleaning nvidia driver and re installing 197.45 and have the same issue. My game crashes as soon as I try to resume the game where I left off last. I believe as soon as I enter redcliff castle.

I am experiencing tons of crashes with area effect attacks, from enemies or from myself. The game is impossible to play. In certain fights the crash is 100% reproducable. I'm not even going to try to express in this post how livid I am right now, or try to understand how this awful patch version has been allowed to persist for months.

System details:
Windows 7 x64
Phenom II X3 720
4GB DDR 1600
M7A79XTD EVO
1GB 5770, latest drivers, never had nvidia drivers on machine.

Here is the crash details.

New to the game, regular Dragon Age: Origins via steam. I am crashing to desktop during the loading screen when starting a new game. Downloaded some saved files in case it was related to some location or intro video. Cannot load any files either, though. No error messages.

System details:

Windows XP Pro SP3 (5.1, Build 2600)

Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 @ 2.8 GHz

2.7 GB RAM

DirectX 9.0

Display:

NVIDIA GeFOrce 9600M GT

512 MB

Fully updated NVIDIA and PhysX drivers. Tried running various video settings, lowest settings, windowed mode, unchecked sync etc. Sometimes only the background image of the loading screen briefly shows up before the crash, sometimes I get the compass graphic to load and it seems to crash at the end of loading. No method to it that I can detect. :\\

I've been having these random crashes (APPCRASH) to desktop since I got about 6 or 7 hours into the game. I've tried all the supposed remedies, downgrading ATI to 9.7, running the game as an administrator, windowed mode, turning down all the graphics settings. I have Windows 7 64-bit, which seems to be what most people with this problem have. Sometimes the crashes will be hours apart, other times every five minutes, and worst of all, they seem to occur frequently on long boss battles, making some nearly impossible and incredibly frustrating because they crash towards the end of the battle.

I'm now at a point in the Rescue the Queen quest where I can't proceed without the game crashing. Up until this point I've been tolerating the crashes, but now it's completely broken the game. And the idea that this game wasn't tested on Win 7 or Vista 64-bit seems ridiculous when the last Steam survey showed over a quarter of users with those systems.

I hope this gets fixed soon so I can play the game I bought.

Bump. CTD very frequently, usually triggered by combat (Holy Smite and Mana Clash are particularly bad). Noticing sound skips as well. No problems before the patch.

Windows 7 x64

Intel QuadCore Q8200 2.33 ghz

Nvidia GeForce G100

Still no fix? Pathetic. Exactly what I expected when EA stepped in.

maybe its a simple answer ...

the money received for all sold copies so far plus the money received from the dumb costumers who are still buying at this point surpass the emergencial cost to a bug solution, but not as much as EA wants it ...

so keep costumers whining and buying ...

Im thinking about all this stuff ...

I hope EA and BioWare do not try to sell the "new" 1.04 patch, because it seems there will be so many novelties that I become really frigthened about that ...

I made it through the game, it just took patience; but, at least they have notified us that it is in the works and will be fixed once it meets quality-control standards.

I can't even make it past redcliffe castle because of crashes, tonight alone i've had 6 crashes in the space of 2 hours maybe less. Frankly BIOWARE it's getting dull!

I cannot believe its has still been so long now almost what a half year or more and still no new patch to fix all the problems, what the hell has happened to Bioware? Use to be the best dam gaming company out there. Ive made it to the ending and now I'm crashing all the time fighting the darkspawn, not to mention all there other bugs, shale, pick pocketing and so much more. But 1.03 patch has so many problems with it and still no new patch. I am highly disappointed with Bioware and no EA I guess too. Bioware your one and only major bad decision is joining with EA. JMO

the crashes has been sensibly reduced, but still there ... especially when using mass effect attacks ...

using the latest ati drivers and 1.04 patch ...

the problems still happens .....
