I seem to have lost the text from my many menus in game? Any clue how to get that stuff back?

wow this is really odd, there is no text at all...my items names are the data base ref names the games uses to call the items. I dont know what to do.

I have simmilar problem of sorts. I was tired of no upper view in Xbox version so I tried character creator on my desktop to see if it could run the game.
The creator booted, but there is NO TEXT at all. I can see everything except for any text, I somehow even managed to create a character, but well, if full version would be textless as well it would render it unplayable.

Never mind..while the re-install did get back most of the text, i still have no dialogue options for cut scenes other then the party chat (talking to individual party members) and all NPC Names are the Reference names instead of the character names.
Is there a way for me to fix this without losing my play data?

so now after hours of messing around with it, Uninstalling/re-installing i finally uninstalled EVERYTHING pertaining to DA:O (including the toolset and my saved games) and after re-installing i still get no Dialogue options, forcing auto choosing of options. This makes the game unplayable as i have no control over any of the dialogue. Is anyone else having this issue?

This could be anything from a graphics driver thing to a broken .TLK file. You play in english or? I'd check the installed .TLK against the one on the original DVD, but I'm not going to give step-by-step instructions since it's "involved". I guess something like this, if I understand you correctly, could happen if you installed one language but the game is set to play in another for some reason.
