I just did 2 playthroughs of the first Mass Effect but im stuck at 59. Im about to do another playthrough but before I start does anyone know if I can import once I hit level 60 if I havent completed the game yet and my decisions from previous playthoughs will be carried over as well?

No, you can't. The game saves the completed game as a file. When you start up ME 2, it checks to see what "completed game files" there are for import. So, in order to carry over that level 60 Shepard, you need to beat the game.

That's a good question and I'm not really sure to be completely honest. I *think* you can do that but don't take my word for it.
Truth be told the extra level probably isn't worth it. The difference is like 1 level in ME2 I think. Maybe some resources too but I can't remember. Try levelling up to 60 and importing. You should know by the end of the first cinematic if your choices were imported properly.

Ah right, I forgot ME1 uses an autosave after beating the game for imports. So you're out of luck. Perhaps you could blow through the game on easy to get that level if you really really wanted to.

I will say that you are right in this - yes, the extra resources can help and the extra level could be useful, but if you've already pushed yourself to level 59 in ME 1 and want to start ME 2, the only reason why you'd go for level 60 in ME 1 is to just get the achievement.
However, in the end, it is up to you what you want to do. Hope this helps!
