The literaldifference is not choosing between squads. Kirrahe and his squad survive regardless of whom you choose. That's different from what the OP has in the first post. The virmire choice IS choosing between two people, because that's literally all it amounts to.

That was the flaw in that decision. IT should have been based on his squad as well. This way it effects a much larger scale. Trust me it would have had more of an impact if you had to choose his squad and which ever person you wanted as your LI.

Well, only if you metagame it, yes.

But the literal choice in OP's post, whether you metagame it or not, is between multiple people versus one person. Not an equal choice whatsoever.

Tooneyman, the problem is that your "ultimate choice" is lopsided. You'd have to be a ****** to choose your LI over multiple people. Whereas the Ashley/Kaidan choice was between two equally human people.

Actually BurningArmor has it right.

The Virmire choice isn't between two people.

It's between one person and a squad (or what's left of them)

On one hand you have:

One soldier, who has already set the bomb to go off, thus the mission is going to be successful, no matter what.

and on the other hand

The remains of Captain Kirrahe's STG Team, plus your other crew member.

The purely mathematical choice will always be the AA Tower team, not whoever's with the bomb. The only reason to go back to the person with the bomb is because they're your LI and you don't want them to die. And that's not a tactical reason at all, that's an emotional one.

See, I interpreted the choice much different.  I saw the bombsite as 'the mission'.  You've only got one drive core.  What if they manage to disarm it or move it?  Kirrahe only said 'very little could stop it', he didn't say it was impossible to disarm.  The person guarding the bomb is alone.  Almost every Shepard(edit: of mine) has turned back to protect the bomb itself.  The individual guarding it is irrelevant, and it annoys me that afterward I'm not allowed to tell the survivor that the mission had to come first.

This was the idea though. It gave it a huge wait on what you had to choose. You can't always have your cake and eat it even no how much you wanted too. This had one hell of an impact on you. Bioware did their job with that decision, which I found to be very important. When my bomb went off I choose kaiden because my character need a good biotic on the team, sense he was an inflitrator. I didn't need a solider so I let ashley take the blast hehe. Its not about the LI. Its about whats bigger. These are the kinds of ultimate decisions which affect as every day well at least in the ME universe woohoo!
