Okay, I'm having a problem with Awakenings installation. I'm stuck at the code registering, the game refuses to recognize my code. I now it isn't me, I've typed the code carefully 5 times already. I think the problem is that there is a lower case letter in my code, which the installer automatically turns into a capital.



Thoughts?

Koski, are you sure that is a lower case letter?
It might me an I (i), which looks like a lower case l (L), depending on the font

Craps out on music_bank_stream_new file extraction at 26.9% No matter what I do. You'd think it's a broken file. Glad I bought a $40 coaster... Support has been wonderful since EA took over...

hi friends . i have a problem in the end of installation of DAO-A . I have windows 7 . in the end of the installation the windows says : windows is finding a trouble shoot for the software & one minute after it says there is no trouble shoot for this software . please close the software .& i open the setup.exe again .it says it install already but when i go to the game i didn't see anything of DAO awakening .
help me please ...

Has anyone solved this issue? I downloaded the game from EA's online store itself.. I tried compatibility mode, and reinstalling the DA:O..it still gets stuck at the exact spot.. i.e. mother_revenge.bik..I also tried extracting the file using WinRAR and it throws out the corrupt file error message. So is there any fix for this or is there any way I can replace that one file in the .rar?

I keep getting auto generated answer from ea support. I cant seem to get a person to address this. Nothing works for me. I found that I can go into c drive/ programData/Electronic Arts/Ea Core/Cache/...Now click on you email that you registered with/ open Dragonage_ ep1_epu1/    Right click setup go to compatibility/ set to windows 2000.  hit apply, then run it..... It has worked for some people. Not me.

The answer is simple, for me at least. Go to Program Files - Dragon Age - Run the Launcher - press configuration - then in configuration press Game, and you'll see like "1.01 - 1.01 - 1.03 - 1.03"

what you do then is that you start installing each patch one by one. like 1.01 patch - 1.02 patch - 1.02a patch and then 1.03 patch. Once you have done this. Try installing Awakening.

I got the same problem. I could install it fine on my old vista laptop. But it seems that on my win 7 computer it simply refuses to install. What's the deal with this anyway? isn't there a way to force the instalation?

Ugh. I need help. I installed awakening, and everything was fine. But when I try to launch it, it wont work! I cant even get into origins anymore! They keep saying the wrong disc is inserted and stuff like that. Anyone know what to do?

I installed the latest version or winrar, ran on win 200 and it didnt work XD It just stops at the same spot and stops trying to install 'Preparing to install ep1_core.rar... (this may take several seconds)

well did anybody try to unpack the archives manually? 7zip seems to open them fine so they aren't apparently encrypted or something. I would unpack them to the DAO directory but setting compatibility mode worked for me.

I have the same error. it's a little bit strange... awakening exapnsion is installing very easy but at 55% it says: Installation failed! Anyone what can i do?? hope so...

Any word on the Steam version? Their site says to run: DAO_UpdateAddinsXml.exe &
DAO_UpdateAddinsXml_Steam.exe but the first one gets an error trying to write to C:/Users/*myusername*/documents

I'm pretty sure it's installed properly as I've checked the game cache several times and it says it's fine.

Edit: Windows 7 btw, I'm wondering if it's hiding the folder or something? But running it as admin makes no difference.

Edit 2: Never mind, got it sorted. The suggestion in this post fixed it for me. The settings weren't getting updated that I had the expansion - I don't know WHY, but managed to work around it at least.

I got the game from EADM and got the same problem with the failed error after it tried to install patch 1.03.
I did the compatibity mode win2000 on the EADM.exe itself and it worked perfectly afterwards.
I run on Win7 ultimate 64

I had a problem loading Origins after upgrading to 7 x 64. Installation kept stopping at 25.3% while extracting anims.erf of the core.rar file. I tried the fix on EA's website and it kind of worked once. The game installed but was buggy and froze and or crashed a lot. My DLC became unauthorised so I unloaded the game. It wouldn't install at all after that.
I went looking for computer settings that looked like they might affect files or the packing/unpacking of those files. I check my OS drives properties and found two boxes checked. Compress files to save space and Allow Indexing. I unchecked those and clicked apply. After the drive did its conversion thing the game and Awakenings loaded perfectly. Patch 1.03 was part of that. I may have just got lucky and the installation randomly worked after all those months.
I had one other program that wouldn't load due to corrupt data. One from nVidia. I actually had to redownload that but it also installed correctly after I made the change to my drive. My drive does seem to be slower, slightly.

Amazing, you'd think the installation issues would have been resolved by now. Just bought Awakenings yesterday afternoon. Big surprise, it STILL fails to install.

go to my computer, then go into your folder with dragon age in it go onto propities on setup and run it in windows 2000!
