Mhairi's Joining (Spoilers)

I know that at some point I really pissed her off and got -15, is that what did it?
It really just seems odd to have her listed as a playable companion, have her able to like or dislike you, just to have her die.
Has anyone managed to keep her alive? If so, how do I do it?

Edit: I ask because I want her in my party, too, and I'm obliged to wait until the 22nd, when my pre-ordered copy of the expasion is scheduled for delivery.

Just how long into the game does this happen? I mean, it
really doesn't seem to make a hell of alot of sense to give
a Character thier own info page and Trailer just to have
you find out not half an hour after you recruit her that she
dies during the Joining.
What the hell, Bioware?
I mean, I love Dragon Age (the Universe, Lore, Characters) but
it seems like mistakes are being made in such a way one
would think you guys had 'never' done High/Dark Fantasy
games before. Hello? Baldur's Gate. Neverwinter Nights.
(Pause) Although...in NN it really did suck that you couldn't
save Arabeth from the Hangman's noose...

However, Aribeth did return in HotU.

Dragon Age: Origins Awakening General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
This forum is for fans to discuss the upcoming expansion pack Dragon Age: Origins Awakening. Please keep discussion centered on Awakening and use the other forums for Dragon Age core game discussion. Spoilers are not allowed here. Please discuss the story in the Official Campaign forum.
So unless you want to take it up with the site-owners, the posters who put Awakening spoilers in here are just following orders.
It would be kind of nice and polite to put some kind of "Awakening Spoilers" warning in the titles. Just as a courtesy, sort of.

It's such a shame this thread isn't marked for spoilers with Mhairi's name or anything. Then you could have avoided it. Oh, wait...Loaderini wrote...

I'm saying this because I was expecting Mhairi to teach Guardian, She didn't have it, and she didn't. (No one else teaches anything, again, AFAICT. Part of the new dialogue system. You can't ask them to teach you.) You've gotta buy the manuals.
I'm basically pointing this out because AFAICT if Justice is going to be your Spirit Warrior, you've got to make Og your Guardian. It doesn't seem to go naturally well with Beserker and is probably better for a S & S warrior ... but oh well.
Seems to me the death rate for Joining rituals, like I said, is around 25%-30%. Three people take the chalice -- one dies. Was pissed it had to be Mhairi.
Don't bother raising her approval too much or giving her too much stuff -- she won't last long.
The BB geeks told me the Prima guide wouldn't be in till Friday, but maybe it's there today. The online guides may also take a few days to start putting in little details like this.

"Blah blah blah, it's an honor to serve the wardens."
"Maybe you should wait here..."
"Don't tell me what to do! I'm a warrior ****!"
Mhairi disapproves -15
She didn't seem to be particularly unique nor possess any sort of innate character strength. More fodder for the joining.
Hah, I loved Oghren's reaction though. I just somehow knew that for all the nasty things he's sure to have imbibed he'd probably down the Darkspawn blood like a cheap ale.
