What gets me is that she was the "normal" one in the group. In Origins you had Alistair as your level headed right hand man. Looks the Wardens put all their sense into one woman and Murphy's Law up and killed her. So yeah, I wish she'd survived.

games before.
Just because you dont like what happens to her doesnt make it a mistake. There is no right or wrong in this, just how the story unfolds.

Oh well she seemed rather bland and boring from the start with an annoying self-righteous sense about her. I would never trade Oghren or Anders for her personally.

to be honest, when I read her profile she seemed... incredibly dull. Very mundane. The others had much more depth and character, and a more interesting background. Had she lasted, she would be akin to Jacob in Mass Effect 2, which is to say, boring.
Well to each their own but if Mhairi had survived and someone else died maybe you wouldn't be happy with that either? Point is different people like different characters, arbitrarily offing one just alienates those who like that one.
EDIT: Maybe something like Mass Effect 2 does in which you do a quest to gain loyalty, that way you as a player have more influence over the story. Whether dragon age writers want to relinquish influence over the story or whether they can afford to develop to these permutations, I don't know.

That's what they should have done here, picked one character at random to kill, either at the time or determined when you import the character.Daigoji Gai wrote...
Now what would be interesting, specifically for DA2, would be if it was a random factor. There is a 50/50 chance of a person surviving - a flip of a coin. So in one playthrough a char may survive, in another, the person may not make it. That may cut down on the frustration some are facing given Mhairi bit the dust.
Only if they're a man, apparently... a "normal" woman is apparently too much to ask.thegreateski wrote...
We can never have a non-angsty
companion can we? (except Oghren)

Look at Origins: Daveth was fairly eager to become a Warden and he got offed. Loghain was far less eager and he made it. In Awakenings, Mhairi was probably the only character who wanted to become a Warden because she thought it was a noble cause and whatnot. And she gets offed. Every other companion; Oghren (joined because he likes killing things), Velanna (joined out of revenge), Nathaniel (was forced into it), was more or less unwilling to become a Warden. And yet all of them made it.
Could there be a connection there, mayhap?

but from the start when I entered Awakening I knew she was going to die like the other 2 from Origins.
.
That was my thought aswell. I was actually expecting her to die way sooner then the joining. So when it was the joining moment, i wasnt suprised one bit.
Ofcourse i wouldnt have mind a more level headed character between the comedian's and drunk pervs. But i accept BW choice for whatever reason they saw it fit. =d

Tell that to my Elf Mages. But then, if the PC dies, it's game over. Where's the fun in that?

There there now, atleast you have Oghrens big hairy ass to put in front of y... oh bad mental image......
But no really, your not alone. I restarted 3 times, kicked out both Oghren and Anders and, well, she still dies. I really wanted her in my party, she would have made a great second in command even - officer material she was.
Lets all drink to Mhairi, and hope we don't heave and lurch like she did.

Considering the game is said to be an interactive roleplaying game? yes it is a mistake when a large group of players obviously would like a different option. Now if this was a movie, television series, or a book? you might have a point but alas no; it is lacking.VanDraegon wrote...
