I just purcahsed Dragon Age Awakening from their website and when I tried to download it all I saw was a pre-order button.
Pre-order?  The game is supposed to be out, even Direct2Drive claims that the game is already out.

In other words, they lied!  I'm never buying from Direct2drive again and neither should any of you.

Newsflash, Direct2Drive's site says their release date is on the 18th, atleast it said that a few hours ago. Digital retailers always have a habit of not releasing at the stroke of midnight and wind up releasing around noonish (CST). I learned this long ago when I was buying newest blockbuster games on Steam.  While you have the advantage of not having to baby a disc, I'd rather play it earlier than waiting it to release, and then waiting for it to download.

From their website...

"Dragon Age: Origins Awakening is expected to
release on March 16th, 2010. Release dates are subject to change without
notice."

Um..think that was a mistake..they recently changed the release date back to the 16th.   However, they probably won't release it til either ten am pacific time or maybe noon pacific.

When I got the deluxe digital version of Origins,  it was somewhere around ten am pacific..if I remember correctly.

So to the OP..try again later, they haven't ripped you off, its just pre-order until whatever time in the day they have it scheduled to release.

I've been swinging my Katana around pretending I'm Alistair fighting off the Darkspawn to help ease the wait.

D2D is rubbish anyway. Use Steam instead.

I don't know about that..have never used Steam, but I have always gotten good, prompt customer service from D2D.

Most of my games are bought there,  tried the EA store..was NOT pleased with their CSRS...and have never bought from that store again since then.

Don't you have to be logged into Steam at all times in order to run the games that you buy from them?  I don't like the idea of that.

I have been happy with both steam and D2D, i like the streamlined interface and patching of steam, but I like the greater game selection D2D has, steam is catching up tho

I've used D2D for several games & have nothing but goodwill for them. I really like the way their process works.

I was waiting for reviews & patch issue resolution anyway so a bit of a wait doesn't really matter to me.

I use both Steam and D2D, but find I get most of my games through D2D. Steam just has a lot of features I don't use, so why bother with them?

D2D releases their games at 10am Pacific, so the game should be up in about 3 hours.

Thanks, this is very useful.
I also see the point of the thread starter: D2D should state clearly what the the expected release day and TIME is. They should highlight it on the main webpage where they advertise Awakening.
Neglecting the customers soon or later catches up with you.
Did they hide, on purpose, the exact release time to get more customers, rather than have them switch to other digital download sites that released the game at midnight?
Probably.

I do not know of a digital downloader that released it at midnight. Steam says 12 noon PST for unlock as an example.

Yes, perhaps before you start boycotting somethign you should understand what you are actually boycotting?

If you are in North America, D2D is now available. :)

No, it isn't. 1 PM EST it will apparently be available. 45 mins to go.

I agree that the time should be clearly spelled out, as 1 PM EST is more than halfway through March 16th.

Yes. But you don't need to be online to be logged in. It has an offline mode.

i am so sick of this.

i have 2 threads of this topic going, im in the same boat at you!

notice, how event he devs here dont know what theyre talking about!? a bit after midnight on the homepage of D2D they said DOWNLOAD NOW! so i pressed and paid and anything, then, my status says PRE-ORDERED with no prior warning and no way to cancel transaction. now that is NOT okay! they could at least put what time it will be available and such! jesus christ, this is a big joke! i could of been playing 2.5 hours if i just went to the mall but i cant cancel my preorder! wtf!?and i would like for bioware to acknowlege this!!
