If you are really annoyed with the company just set the game from an (ahem) "alternative" source... that's the law of the jungle. Personally though (perhaps as a spoiled European, Latte sipping middle-class brat) I will just pay the money and enjoy the game. And I will readily do the same for the next expansion! And the next!

Keep the perspective folks... nobody likes a perfection-seeking ****! Just get on with it --with the right attitude Awakening can be a real treat and something to look forward too!

I understand and agree with your position. Unfortunately you posted after my pre-order shipped so I'm getting it. Just what I'm getting remains to be seen, but there you have it.
I don't begrudge Bioware or EA expanding the game. It's their franchise, I enjoyed the original game very much. I wish them well.
I do begrudge them for breaking my game. Not beyond hope, but patch 1.03 has introduced a number of issues that were not there before. If it were just me that was having those issues, then again, I'd understand a lack of response. One person out of many thousands of happy customers probably isn't worth devoting a lot of resources to.
But I'm not alone. Nor is the OP. Software problems (bugs) can be tricky to track down, much less fix. It takes all of five minutes to draft a message stating that they are aware of the problems and they are addressing them as best they can. Less than five minutes, actually.

The OP at least was not complaining about the price. He lives in the UK and was going to get it for £15. He was complaining about the fact that the 1.03 patch seems to break the game for many people, and it's necessary to play Awakenings.ruari88 wrote...
The expansion is a whopping $40.00 in the US, but comes in at around 17 to 20 euros in Europe... so maybe my expectations are just not as high as yours... but for 17 euro --well what would you get for that? A few drinks? A coffee and a bun (in most European cities anyway!)? It's just a game guys!

Personally, although the game has become a little more unstable for me since 1.03, it hasn't been enough to stop me buying the expansion, but I do find his point of view understandable. Although the official support is from EA, I can't see why it's beyond BioWare to at least publically acknowledge people's problems with the patch.

The only cautionary thing I'd say to this is, is: Community Service people (like the moderators) need to get the bug information to the correct coders/devs and then wait for those same coders/devs to get back to them with the "official" word. In my experience, both in beta communities and in development this turn-around is on average two weeks. So I'm not fretting over this yet.
Hopefully, what will be done is that the Community Service people acknowledge that they've submitted the info - that hopefully will not take long to communicate to the fans/forumites.

Loading times are the same for me, but I have more memory then most, so I could play for hours without the issue affecting me.

Shut up. Seriously. You're the one that sounds like a child. You've thrown around ages at least three times now as insults.
I go to work every single day and I pay for every single game as well as the normal costs of living. If you don't want to pay the money for it then don't.

That's my personal experience, but it seems that many people experience crashes/lag problems so frequently that it makes the game unplayable for them.ruari88 wrote...

I earn my money by working hard. My budget is very tight. 20 euros buy me my basic groceries for a week, and 28 euros pay half my electric bill. So please, don't generalize.
Why are you trying to pull this discussion onto the money side, anyway? Melkathi stated plainly that the price was right, but the buggy patch was not.

30 euros. Overpriced.
17... well.. yes, that sounds more like it.
If any of you live in the Netherlands, I've found cdwow.nl to be 17 euros with no delivery fees. So far it's the cheapest I've found.
Play.com for the uk seems to have a decent price of 20 euros too.
Hope it helps :-)

Actually I currently live in Greece, though I usually get my games (when ordering online) through uk based retailers. It usually works out cheapest, even with postage and packing.
As you say, it is not a money issue. On the contrary, the fact that over here, unlike the US players, we can get Awakening at a reasonable price, is why I considered pre-ordering in the first place.
I am a steak guy. When I go out for dinner, I spend up to 30 euros on the main course. With a good friend of mine we can easily spend 100+ between the two of us when we have dinner together.

My bad. I shouldn't have inferred your place of residence from your choice of retailer. Personally I wouldn't buy anything from Game, though. I used to work for them and they're a bunch of b*stards...melkathi wrote...

No. I'm quite sure you have that all tied down. You sure love to throw around insults as if you have nothing better to say.
I don't see how I'm missing the point. Unless you were joking, which I'm sure you were not. I'm not going to get into it with you because melkathi deserves better than this.
So congratulations. You win at the Internet.

Thanks, though no need to defend me. Wow wasn't replying to me, but to another poster, who did that whole game price - coffee price comparison thing that people like to do
In his reply to my original post, Wow simply expressed his reluctancde to use reviews written up as forum posts. Again he could have worded it in a nicer way, but I have been left remarkably uninsulted in this thread

Ouch. Good thing I have never updated my game to 1.03. I hope they have withdrawn the patch for now.

No they haven't.
The launcher still advetizes it in huge letters.
And they cannot actually withdraw the patch, as installation of the patch is integrated into the Awakening installation

God. I said he (melkathi) deserved better than us arging in his thread or are you daft? You saw exactly what I quoted. It has the orginal posters post in it.

Needless to say, I'm right there with you Melkathi. I wouldn't buy Awakenings off the bat due to the very high-end pricepoint anyways(being in Canada on Steam), and now I definitely won't be buying it until they fix DAO.
