At the moment I'm having fantasies of a game. I know not if it exists. But it would be a free roaming game, with a huge area to run around in doing missions and stuff. And I would have my own vehicle that I can upgrade and customise, and upgradable or customisable guns. And preferably my own house that I can put all my stuff.

Has anyone heard of anything like that?

I was thinking of Far Cry 2. I played it for a bit a while ago but I can't remember if you can upgrade/customise vehicles and weapons. Or if you can have your own house.

Plus I couldn't cope with those damn roadblocks constantly respawning. I'm sure there's a mod for that but I'm 360.

That sounds similar to what we know of Fallout: New Vegas so far.

Star Control II doesn't have a house you can put stuff in.

But it does have a customizable ship and a huge huge area to explore.  I have never met anyone who has played Star Control II who didn't love it.

I'm excited to play Resonace of Fate.

http://www.eurogamer...-of-fate-review

It's a JRPG.  I haven't been thrilled with the recent slew of JRPG's of late.  However, with words like

["At times you'll have no doubts that this is the best JRPG of the generation, a fast-paced, interesting and creative detour from a stagnant mainstream. At other moments, usually when facing the tenth Game Over screen during a difficult boss battle, you'll wonder whether the game suffers from poor balance, born from its developer's stubborn insistence on novelty for the sake of it.

Either way, by the end of the adventure you'll be certain that Resonance of Fate's approach is a one-time affair, unlikely to inspire any copycats. Its ideas are simply too leftfield, and too fully realised to be closely imitated.

Nevertheless, this is a hugely interesting game, as fascinating as it is frequently frustrating, as engaging as it is eccentric and, for those who are hooked by its quirky charms, it will provide one of the most inspired approaches to the JRPG seen in a decade."]

I can't wait to sink a ton of hours into the game.

*If Jrpg's aren't your cup of tea the game Metro 2033 looks interesting.

Ok this may sound silly but...

Have you considered Lego Universe?

The closed Beta has just started and it's worth applying to. If you enjoy MMOs.

With it being a Lego game, the customization of your vehicles and player housing is of course unparalleled.

The story isn't too bad either (though I am surprised they actually came up with one in the first place).

Of course this is assuming you don't mind playing a not serious game ;)

Yeah.  The Mass Effect series is pretty much the spiritual successor to Star Control II anyways.

Seriously, the games have a ton in common.

Really? Because I know next to nothing about the game other than it exists and is being developed by Obsidian, but then I havent been following the game very closely. I would appreciate if you could post a link for me so I can see what the game is all about.

Eh... the information is spread between multiple news updates on various sites, so I can't link to any one source that has it all.

What I can remember off hand is that the game takes place in and around Vegas. That covers the exploration aspect, and the go anywhere nature of Fallout is where free roaming comes in. You do get a vehicle at some point. Although I admit to not knowing if it's customizable. The game seems to share quite a bit in common with Fallout 2 from what has been revealed so far.

If it was legal, I'd post some scans of the F:NV article in the newest Playstation Magazine. There are customizable weapons, seperate faction relationship and karma meters, you can now tell your companions how to act, and a hardcore mode where you have to eat/drink.
