this drives me nuts about the ultimate sacrifice ending!!!!!! if you don't want the story breaking concept of your dead warden living, don't import your save game!!!!!! that's it. that's all you have to do. that option is there for the people who would complain that they can't import their save game because they killed their warden off and didn't know an expansion would come out that would allow save game importing. the whining about this is ridiculous. just don't import your save!!!!! or better yet, replay the last part of the game and don't kill yourself!!!!!Kaiser Shepard wrote...
I am with the OP on this one, there simply are too many questionable things such as retconning an entire endgame (Ultimate Sacrifice ending) and not porting the DLC items over.
The former could, even though some will still dislike the choice, easily be explained through a 2 minute long cutscene. The latter should not even be a legitimate problem: I refuse to believe BioWare wasn't able to do what one mere fan could within a day.
Without these two imperfections (hell, even without just the former), I would rush to the nearest toy store and buy the game, even though the story itself might disappoint. I, however, am not willing to buy the expansion to a game about choices in which my final and most personal choice is simply omitted. That's just wrong.
i refuse to buy this 'expansion'

The Orlesian Warden should have been the option for those who chose the Ultimate Sacrifice ending, but none of your decisions get carried over. That is the problem. The Ultimate Sacrifice ending wasn't like the "dead Shepard" ending in ME2, which was basically a screw-ball novelty ending. Death in DA was supposed to matter, in that your character dies, but the world continues on, affected by the choices you made.

This had a very rushed feel to it and I'm sad to say I was right, sure some things carry over, but a lot of them are bugs/glitches...the glitched ending where Alistar is king when he shouldn't be carries over, save corruption issue still there and of course the dex bug isn't fixed. I mean how hard is it to include a patch released three months ago for the people not on a pc who really have no options as far as fixing the game themselves or a third-party patch.
The greed of these companies is quite sickening, they keep rushing out dlc and expansions to get all the money they can out of us, and then not lift a dam finger to fix the bugs that have ruined an otherwise excellent game. I won't be buying this or any other dlc until they actually fix the game I've now lost faith in one of my favorite game companies...
Anyways, that's my rant take from it what you will.

I had a wait and see attitude towards this expansion, the complete lack of any support for the consoles was a major problem, but also the lack of communication, the devs never even responded once to anything posted.

I feel your pain... I remember the load time bug, that if you switched areas multiple times would make the next loading time take up to anywhere past a half hour, I think they fixed that somewhat in 1.3, but it's been like 4-5 months since that was discovered, you would think they would get on that immediatly. Ugh just so much about Bioware is pissing me off now, comon no helmet toggle off in ME2.... I know that has nothing to do with DA or bugs, but I will never get over that.

Well.. at least this time you can't blame Multiplayer and it's fans for the game's faults =D

Either that or some kind of resurrection. It's not as if the lore wouldn't allow it: we know that spirits from the Fade can inhabit bodies without a soul, there are powerful witches such as Morrigan and Flemeth, bloodmagic which can apparently be amplified by the Taint in every Warden, the Architect could revive for his own reasons... even the Maker himself could've done it! Hell, I'd even be more than content with the Warden just waking up in his tomb at Weisshaupt, only to see some kind of mysterious light disappear.
Mr. Gaider & co had all the literary freedom in the world, they did create the Dragon Age universe after all. Instead they chose this. I'm not sure if they just want to continue the series in the Dark Ritual-direction or that they didn't fully think this through (which I doubt). If the US Warden were to be resurrected, all that needs to be added is a relatively short cutscene before the game begins, with only a select few characters such as Alastair and Oghren getting a line referring to you having been dead. If the US Warden is replaced by the Orlesian Warden, all they needed to do is having a few parts in the game referring to Origins events (once again, not too many lines would have to be added).
BioWare guys and gals, I love Dragon Age: Origins, I love every BioWare game I have played and I respect you more than any other developer. But I do not -- cannot -- approve of simply ignoring such an important plot choice. I hope this path you have apparently chosen over the others won't carry over to DA2, or will be fixed in DAA before that, as this has severely hampered my ability to appreciate a fine series such as Dragon Age.

I'll be buying Awakening this week for following reasons:
1. DA is one of the best games currently available
2. Anything I want from Origins that doesn't carry over to Awakening I can mod in using Toolset
3. The cost is irrelevant. I figure $40 is reasonable compared to various other entertainments (dinner at a restaurant and a movie for example).
4. So what if it has a few bugs? I don't care!
All this complaining means nothing to me.
That is well thought out, but the PS3 and Xbox 360 owners can't do that, and looking at the sells, PC versus platforms, Toolsets are a myth seeing that Platform owners have made DAO buzz what it is not PC owners

We all go work at EA, and use our paychecks from them to buy it, so the profit goes back into our next paychecks.
Clearly, my plan is 1000% foolproof.

This is a great expansion and is worth every dime. Thanks Bioware for continuing to set the pace in PC gaming! I've loved every minute of Origins and have just started Awakening and can't wait to finish work and get back into the Dragon Age Universe.
I couldn't agree more.

One good way of making sure the devs are less likely to take your concerns seriously is to start banging on about how your platform deserves the priority.

I think most of the complaints have to do with the lack of any real bug fixes, they just rushed this out the door with poor QA testing. They did nothing for the bugs that plague the original and most do carry over to the expansion. It's not that people don't like the game, it's the way they rush these things out without being properly tested or fixed.
This is pretty much the crux of it. Bioware just wants your money. After you've paid, they don't care anymore, they already have your money.

Been traveling through Awakenings now for about 5 hours. Seeing the sites and enjoying the atmosphere. Havent met any nasty software bugs yet, only a bunch of Darkspawn. Since the value of DA:O was amazing for the price paid, the cost of DA:A is negligible, imo. then again, gaming is a luxury i really enjoy and hope to continue enjoying so i dont mind the cost.
Sneaked into Annora's bedroom while Alister was out.
Wish you were here.
