...but have you played it? :-)

On what you say:
It is obvious it was thrown in in a rush to make a quick buck. Can't blame them, they're a company who has to pay many employees and make a profit... in the end, it all comes down to that. DAO itself included.

About all the rest... I also agree... so far. It may all change when I've actually played it.

But a friend told me yesterday, "well, isn't it what TOB is to BG2"? I'd have to say, it probably is, so I'm still playing it. :-) You can't have BG2 without TOB in the end! :-)

I can't blame Bioware for trying to make a profit, but I can blame them for releasing a shoddily put together piece of crap before its ready and overcharging their loyal customers. Bioware has a reputation of making high quality, mature RPGs, with deep characters and rich storylines. This product does not live up to their name.

Now, unlike Toyota, no one is going to die because of their crappy business decisions. But I still expected my $40 to get me a much better product, and would like a refund. I can't because of the IP scam.

game feels fine to me. I just got it and started playing it and you can import and it feels like it is your character from origins. So I don't know what the hell you are talking about.

I won'T buy it for the same reasons of the post creator.

May I add that this EXPANSION (I want to be sure you understand the meaning) cost MORE of the FULL game on release date. I didn't even got a coupon or anything to drop the price, not even trading and un-used.
How can an expansion cost more?

Anyway.....

Oh and there is also this thing about broken game because there is still achievements glitches, story breaking bugs and save corruption.

even if i partially agree, there story takes an interesting turn and the moral choices and questions and defining good and get gets much more complex - and i like that... honestly, the basic story from origins was just plain boring - no ofense, but it was a 0815 we fight the unspoken mindless evil story without any twists or anything (except maybe some moral dilemma with the elfes)... and regarding the price, well its all a matter of perception... here the game costs 50 bucks, i think in the states its half of it... so...

you get 15-30 hours of entertainment... thats at least 7 movies at a theatre which will cost you (without food) 50 bucks, a hooker for 15 hours will also cost a lot more, as will a very long party night out... the only thing that might be less expensive and longer to enjoy is a good book...

honestly, yes its a bit pricey and yes it may have its flaws - but nobody forces you to buy it... thats how a free market is defined - if not enough people like it and don't buy the company drowns or gonna improve...

and even if the game might be short and lacking in some departments as well as not really having a red line, the turn in the overall story is interesting enough

I haven't bought it yet, I'm sure I will at some point but I'm too skint just now, I just wanted to ask those of you that have it, do you think it's worth it? am I missing something fantastic or should I wait for a price decrease?

I actualy have played awakening and it fit perfectly in with DAO. all my skills and choises imported over into the expantion. I was still my level 25 warrior will all my skills and iteams. Hell I still had all my assigned attacks on my hotkeys. the only thing that changes is that your in a new palce and yes unfortunetly you do not get tot ake your wardens keep iteams with you but thats fine cuse with in 20 minets you get wicked awsome armor to repalce it. you still have oghren and you run into a few other old friends and you make some new ones.. ander is like a hybrid of Alistar and Zevran. and Nathen howe is actualy real nice and a good friend. the expantion handles it self very well and I have no complants. so shut the sodding up unless you actualy play it.

Like I said the content itself really isnt my issue here.. the problem is it's just not worth $40 especially when the UK gets it for about half that price (15 pounds is like $30 usd or something?). So yea I have no idea why that is, but $30 sounds a hell of a lot more reasonable to me for 15 hours of content.

I will be buying this expansion, but not until it drops to the price it should be. The simple fact is I feel like I'm being milked here and I'm not even saying the content is bad. It's simply not worth the price.

The arguement for this was the expansion is longer than most games these days. While this is true, it's only true when you compare it to games that rely heavily on online multiplayers (such as COD). RPGs however are not 15 hour episodes. If you're going to compare games atleast do it by genre.

A 15 hour constant action game that has online multiplayer is worth $40. An rpg "expansion" is not. Simply put.

and for the they rushed it comment they have been working on this sence the finished orgins. and with already sueing the existing game and engins it would take a fraction of the time to make than starting from scratch. they already had the game they jsut moved things around and wrote more story. its an Expantion not a sodding sequil.

You all are pathetic. How about you go create a game from the ground up. How about you create loads of dialogue for this game. How about you go create your own world where you can **** and moan all the time. Don't like it, FINE. That doesn't mean anyone, anywhere cares what you have to say.

The moment you create your own game that is better than Bioware's then you have the right to talk. And I'm not referring to modding it, I mean Bioware f***ing gave you the tool set for that. You **** about it because you are SOOOOOOOOOO disappointed in Bioware for not making it perfect for you. Fact is, it's a damn fine game that is an extension of Dragon Age's Stellar Universe. You don't like it, that's your loss. Don't buy it. I could care less.

So stop being a petulant child and respect this for what it is. It's not perfect but it's better than damn near everything on the market right now. I'm not about to sit here and listen to a damn word you have to say when you haven't even played it yet.

This response is idiotic. So let me see, if I don't build my own car from steel I forged myself, then I have no right to question the quality of a vehicle that I spent money on?

You're not seeing the point of this thread at all. I dont doubt the expansion has the same awe inspiring gameplay that DAo had. Like I said multiple times already that little bit of content just isnt worth the full retail price. $20 fine. Hell even $30 would be ok. Not $40. Not for a 15 hours 'expansion' with content that was obviously cut to make a deadline. Its just not worth the money.

so the entire complant is that the game cost 40 bucks. with the amount of content options and the fact you can play it as a stadn alone game is not enuff for you. you want it to be a doller. 40 bucks is not that mutch i pay more on my cell phone a month than that. concidering most DLC run about 10 dollers for four hours of addional game play this tripples that. also concidering that this might hold the opion of haveing its own dlc exclusive for the expantion  witch is a feature that no dlc can offer. So yeah i think its worth the 40 bucks i paid for it. the game is great the story is wonderful and the price is resonable. if you dont like the price than stop complaning about it and wait for it to go down in price and be an adult about it. only children cry about things they want and cant have. grown ups deal with it and go to work.

I also want to add my voice to those who are refusing to plunk down $40 for this "expansion". It seems more in line with something that would be around the $20 mark and for download only. It's definitely not something that should be brought to retail and sold as a full-featured expansion. Ten or fifteen hours is great for an FPS with robust multiplayer - it's pathetic for a single player RPG and *especially* bad coming from Bioware.

Again, I've already spoken with my wallet - I just want to reinforce that with my voice and hope to prevent this kind of rushed content in the future.

Ha, you got served. I didn't pay more than the original. I payed 20$ less.

The game does feel rushed yes, but not to the point of it being unplayable and ruined. Granted, I am still early in the game, perhaps that will change later. But for now, I am enjoying it.

But I would have preferred if they had taken more time to make Awakening. And I am really worried if the sequel is coming next year.

First of all, aside from importing a character from the original game, this 'expansion' has absolutely nothing to do with the original game. Yes, the storylines intertwine, but skills, companions, and even officially released DLC doesnt go back at all to the original story. The 'expansion' isnt even loaded into the orignal game at all.

If the community got together and made a team of say 5-10 people they could recreate this entire expansion in the same time it took bioware to put this together. Jesus christ atleast let us load it into our original game? This is such a HUGE let down to me and it FEELS like it was just thrown together just to make a quick buck. Horrible.

Bioware loses major brownie points with me on this and ive been a fan of this companie for a very long time. Its starting to be all about the money now - screw the fans. EA is rubbing off on them. I refuse to purchase this crap id rather remake it my damn self with the toolset.

First of all when compared to other RPGs in the industry the dollar sum isnt reasonable. We're not comparing a video game to a cell phone. Second of all I've already stated that I will be waiting for the price to drop before buying it. Not because I dont have $40 to go buy it because sometimes someone needs to stand up and do something to make a point. Will my $40 be missed? No, probably not. But if enough people do the same thing it will.

So you sir, mr grown up adult person, go back to your work and be the sheep that large corporations like EA use to take that hard earned money right out of your pocket. Some people dont stand for that crap ...others simply go through life doing what theyre told.

hmmm i think this discussion is nonsense if youre not happy with the product give it back, if you can't well **** happens, don't buy the next one...this discussion is not really leading anywhere...

besides - as far as i can remember bioware had clearly stated you could expect 15-20 hours gameplay and since we all know devs usually are rather optimistic AND since i clearly wrote in my review fast players will be through in 10 hours...well...

The problem here is that I expect a lot more from Bioware, and feel ripped off. If it wasn't a company that I have been a loyal customer of since Baldur's Gate, I probably wouldn't have cared. It really seems like this is a sign of the end of Bioware for me. Like EA did to them, what a pimp does to beauty queen after she gets 1st runner up.

And P.S. It doesn't matter when they started it, it matters when it's actually finished and READY for RELEASE. This clearly wasn't.

though OP how can you judge something you never played?

look at throne of bhaal for BG:2 the game only had one shared area.
but it was still amazing and added hours and hours of gameplay and moved the story along you know like an expansion should?

helloooooo bioware wrote it's 15 hours - you buy it - it's 15 hours - and youre complaining?? did you honestly expect it to be 50 hours when the devs claim it to be 15?!?
