I'm sorry Chris but this 'expansion' feels more like hyped up DLC.
I think borderlands is a PERFECT example of GOOD DLC.
You can get a good 15 hours out of just one of the DLC's available for it.
If you expect people to pay 40 bucks, 10 dollars less than a regular PC game for what you're calling an expansion, well you're daft to be completely honest.
The bang for our buck just isn't there.

Regardless of what Chris says, I dont believe it. It's his job to post on these forums and make people feel better about it. The simple fact remains that the value just isnt there. Corners were cut and features removed. This 'expansion' was rushed out the door to meet a deadline regardless of when it began it's devolpment.
Is it a bad game? No, it's probably very nice content and put together great. It's simply not enough to warrant a $40 price tag.

Good luck with it, on my all the dark do is stand there they won"t fight or anything, and the thing you have to do is kill all the dark spawn every time I try to kill them their life just goes back up what a crappie expansion this is so far I can't even play it till they come out with a patch I called EA and told them but they didn't help much, and I wanted to play this so bad.
I'd also suggest dropping a note in this thread where people have been collecting 1.03/awakening bugs.
Of course there has been no response to the various threads reporting bugs. But that is to be expected. As Mr. Priestley said:
" ...enjoy Dragon Age: Origins Awakening as we know it is a great game."
And if it's great, it can't be bugged to hell and back, right?

Well you got to remember that as they said during an interview they have been working on this expansion for a year before they announced it, So its not really rushed just they been timing the games to come out so people dont "forget" the prevoius.
Why add romances when you will still have your old ones later and maybe options for new ones with awakening companions later, like bioware has done with mass effect ect. (I'd include baldurs gate but thats old news).
Awakening will be an awesome carry on even with your relationships missing, but you also got to remember your old friends as mentioned in the epilogue and end conversations are doing some of there own things.
If you refuse to buy it, ok and all i can say is. Zullen we gaan zuipen in plaats? A line i would probably love to hear oghren say.
We are not certain this will ever happen. If they could not have any romances continued in this expansion, it is very doubtful you will see your loved ones again in any proper capacity.

Watching fanboys blindly defend mediocrity is always entertaining. Just how stupid do people have to be to defend cutting corners and rushing crap out especially at the price of a full release? Its people like that why Corporations laugh at the idiots and keep pumping out garbage, they know people are stupid enough not only to accept it, but to also defend it.

You all are pathetic. How about you go create a game from the ground up. How about you create loads of dialogue for this game. How about you go create your own world where you can **** and moan all the time. Don't like it, FINE. That doesn't mean anyone, anywhere cares what you have to say.
The moment you create your own game that is better than Bioware's then you have the right to talk. And I'm not referring to modding it, I mean Bioware f***ing gave you the tool set for that. You **** about it because you are SOOOOOOOOOO disappointed in Bioware for not making it perfect for you. Fact is, it's a damn fine game that is an extension of Dragon Age's Stellar Universe. You don't like it, that's your loss. Don't buy it. I could care less.
So stop being a petulant child and respect this for what it is. It's not perfect but it's better than damn near everything on the market right now. I'm not about to sit here and listen to a damn word you have to say when you haven't even played it yet.
Literally lost IQ after reading this trash. This kid is a nerd raging ******.

I think I could have been happy with Awakenings if it was billed as a "module" at a 15-20$ pricepoint. It's not an "expansion". It does nothing to "expand" the original campaign. The new skills/talents/specs dont apply outside of the short ( in comparison to the orginal game campaign) campaign. Generally, "expansions" add content to the original game, in addition to a new campaign, like Throne of Bhaal did.
It's basically just a little more of the same, for nearly the same price as the full original game. Priestly can spin all he wants, but Awakening is not a good value. And the storyline/characters are so divorced from the original campaign, its hard to view it as an expansion on the original story either.
It's not *bad*, but its hard not to feel a little ripped off, especially in light of the *still* bug-ridden nature of the original game. Bioware has delivered better in the past.

This product is mediocre, not because of its content but because of its execution. I will not purchase a product that is poorly executed. Correct the errors with this and the original or forget me as a customer now and in the future. DA coding reminds me of Windows Millennium.
.....yeah, I went there.

I spent $40, and after playing it a bit, would have gladly spent $60 for Awakening, its a damn good game, its a vast improvement over Origins, and it adds alot of new innovative features that I hope are added to future Bioware games ( choice system, keeps, the new character interaction system ). I'm even surprised they are charging so little for it, its longer then most $60 games I buy, and has much more content and quality in it then half of them.
Honestly, if this is the future of Bioware, $30-$40 Expansion packs that are the size of fullscale games every 3-6 months, count me in, this is great, my main problem is waiting 4 years for a 50 hour game that I end up beating super fast, then having to wait another 4 years to see the sequel, if they can pump out an expansion that is 15-20 hours every few months, and they retain this level of quality, more power to them, they have my money.

I have a right to demand a product that is free from errors. If you disagree then you are the type of person that is willing to settle for mediocrity. I for one, am not. I expect perfection, as should any consumer, and I don't believe that it is unreasonable.

If you're refering to a PC game.......that's hardly fair. I agree that I don't see the value in the game at $40 and plenty of reasons not to purcchase the game. But less be realistic. Any PC gamer should know that there is no such thing as an error free game that will work on everyone of the thousands upon thousands of rigs out there. By your reasoning no one should ever buy any PC game again. Period........hardly something that would help us PC game attics.

There is a reasonable amound of bugs one should make allowance for, that's true. But that does not mean any amound of bugs is reasonable. From what I see on the forum and from what I know of patch 1.03, Awakening is past that reasonable line, at least for some of us.

Please folks, no fighting here.
To me, gaming (and movies, books, most recreation actually) always comes down to value for my dollar. Am I going to get good value for what they expect me to spend. If I think I will get my money's worth out of a product, I will purchase it. If I don't, I won't. I have bought games that take a long time, but I didn't really have fun (like Oblivion). I regret those. I've also bought short games that didn't take a long time, but were a blast to play (like God of War or Arkham Asylum) and I think I got my moneys worth or more.
We think that there is great value in Dragon Age: Origins Awakening. Depending on what you choose to do, there is anywhere from 10-30+ hours oif game play your first time through. Hopefully, you will also want to replay with otehr characters, new classes, etc which adds to the value. The team has not "rushed" this out as it has been in developement since before the launch of DA:O back in October (keep in mind we have multiple teams working at once) and I think they've done a great job.
Still, at the end of the day, it is up to each person to choose whether or not the value is there for them. Hopefully they will come to think it is, purchase, play and enjoy Dragon Age: Origins Awakening as we know it is a great game.
Here is a question in response to your claims that you have not rushed the game out. Why is the Ostagar expansion basicly doing the exact same mission for duncan lighting the torch. The land is exactly the same with just some darkspawn bits here and there, only the darkspawn forge and Calin is the only new piece i saw from this DLC. Statisticly the armor and weapons were exactly the same type of damage as the other dlc.
Not only this the Darkspawn Necromancer was portrayed as the boss, since all the clips involved him. However at the end he is a yellow tier enemy? The ogre was supposed to be risen from the dead and looked exactly the same as the normal one with no decay or wounds. Not only this he didnt even pull out duncans swords plunged into his chest which i would of found extremly satisfying for a clip, even better if he used a sword!
I mean you cant exactly tell me that there was not enough time for the principle layout had already been done, tower and all.

As for dragon age awakening. I think you are probally right about having +30 hours and it is going to be an excellent expansion. However i want to suggest purchaing from online stores if anybody suggests getting this game straight away. It is a lot cheaper to buy off ebay stores including the postage to your door as well. However Dawn of War II expansion appeals to me more just like if it were baldurs gate, i love my tradional backgrounds when it comes to games rather than new ones and was extremly dissapointed when you decided to make dragon age insted of baldurs gate III which i waited over 10 years for.
