Oh, thanks for the info, the data must be hardly compressed then. Hmm... 4GB ain't that bad for an expansion. I don't expect it worth 7gigs like Origins though.Feraele wrote...

Didn't buy this expansion yet, I'm going to wait until the price dropped. 40 bucks for 15 hours gameplay and 2GB expansion is too much for me furthermore, I've watched the gamespot review about how uninteresting the new characters, that add how $40 doesn't worth it. I don't care about the romance stuff. But, let put that aside, the bottomline is I'm going to get this game after the price dropped, and maybe after the devs fix some of those annoying bugs like visuals and pickpocket stuff.
Its actually 3 or 4 gigs on your harddrive...
I know I weighed it on my bathroom scale..to make sure I got my money's worth .hehe
i refuse to buy this 'expansion'

Seriously, a company can put out an amazing product and there are still people that will scream and howl and throw themselves on the ground and froth at the mouth like they are having a seizure, because there was "something" they didn't like in it. The forums unfortunately just make the howling, frothing few seem like the majority because they are much, much louder.

the thing im guessing is the fact that a lot of the ending, apart from certain characters big plot points about who rules etc and whether you kill your allies in the first game, a lot of the ending is done in text, something they probably bashed out in twenty minutes when they finally finished the game. i'm not technically minded, but going back with all this plot decisions would of been MASSIVE, and probably dragged this expansion out another six months...
From what little I understand about the Toolset, I respectfully
disagree.
Until I read this post, I just assumed that Awakening was
run inside the original game world--why wouldn't it be? I mean if some guy off
the street can create a whole dungeon and everything else as a module inside
the game world, isn't Awakening just another really big module with new
resources? Well, I guess it isn't. If what I read here is true.
There is no new area that becomes available inside Fereldan
that can you travel to that further allows you access to a new Oralis map.
Remember how we got to the deep roads?
Why didn't the Awakening module just inherit the original
game world resources and add new ones?
We don't go to Orlais in this expansion..we go to Amaranthine..a few miles up the coast from Denerim. If you look at the ingame map you can see "south to Denerim" on it.
We can play an Orlesian warden if we so choose, but that Orlesian is already in or near Amaranthine or the Keep, I don't know which as I have been playing my Origins character thus far.

In the end it all comes down to 2 very simple things.
1. Some of us have to work for our 40$, you know jobs, bills the things you do after you hit puberty and move out of you family home. We tend to look for value and worth in products we purchase. We tend to become loyal customers and become bitterly disapointed when our favorite company takes adventange of our trust.
2 Some of us, ask our mom or dad to buy stuff, whatever is new and cool whatever to make us happy. We dont know the value of a dollar and we never may. We buy **** cause we can good or bad. We also ignore reason it does not affect us.
For # 2 Let me make it simple.
Some people like frozen foods others take time and cook wonderful dinner with using fresh ingridients.
This coming from someone without any registered games, lecturing us about jobs and calling anyone who disagrees with you a child. How immature can you get to be?

just buy it
2 outcomes can happen:
Bioware makes enough profit and still retains the motivation to create an amazing Dragon Age 2
or Bioware gets lazy due to excess profit and dragon age starts to decline in quality
No. Don't buy it if it does not meet or exceed your expectations. Bioware if very capable of putting out quality games with excellent story-lines. DA:O was such an exceptional game and if they cannot release expansions and sequels that rival Origins I refuse to give them my money.

First of all, aside from importing a character from the original game, this 'expansion' has absolutely nothing to do with the original game. Yes, the storylines intertwine, but skills, companions, and even officially released DLC doesnt go back at all to the original story. The 'expansion' isnt even loaded into the orignal game at all.
If the community got together and made a team of say 5-10 people they could recreate this entire expansion in the same time it took bioware to put this together. Jesus christ atleast let us load it into our original game? This is such a HUGE let down to me and it FEELS like it was just thrown together just to make a quick buck. Horrible.
Bioware loses major brownie points with me on this and ive been a fan of this companie for a very long time. Its starting to be all about the money now - screw the fans. EA is rubbing off on them. I refuse to purchase this crap id rather remake it my damn self with the toolset.
TAKE THE TIME TO MAKE IT RIGHT DONT RELEASE UNFINISHED GARBAGE TO YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS
I had it pre-ordered, then I had some questions about it, emailed Bioware, no response, cancelled pre-order, sold not only Dragon Age:Origins, but Mass Effect 2 as well, both of which are collectors editions. The lack of a "real" patch on 360 fixing DEX(Yes it is a big deal), and other problems and lack of response with issues and concerns for ALL the recent releases left me with a bad after taste of their recent products. So this is one very loyal customer(since BG series) that aint coming back, go ahead and say: "BYE NOOB, CYA LATERS DIDNT WANT YOU HERE ANYWAYS, or YOUR MONEY AINT JACK TO BW OR EA SO NOT LIKE THEY'LL MISS YOU".
I doubt I'm the only one, but rather than go on a "complaint spree", in which gripes would and are legit only to be flamed by people like I was "loyalists", I'll just not buy a BioWare game ever again period. And who can blame me?
A community divided by people who dont really "hate" whats created but questions it, and by people who will remain loyal to anything with a BioWare emblem, period, even if the game literally peed on their rug, still loyal to the end.
For those of you here who dont get on peoples case for having an opinion or concern, I salute you. For those of you who are optimistic even after the way alot has been handled or not handled at all, I salute you. For those who scream STFU BIOWARE IS THE GREATEST EVER YOU SUCK BECAUSE YOU JUST CANT HANDLE HOW AWESOME THE GAMES ARE........well you guys know where you can go.
Take care, good luck, peace and good will.
Operative84
PS: I am keeping the REAL Mass Effect, always will, because in the end it is 100 times the game it's predecessor is.

So then, I should buy the game and I can return it for a refund if it does not meet my expectations? No one will refund software that has been opened and played for the original purchase price.

At the very least, it will NOT be a mystery to Bioware why the expansion didn't sell as well as they'd hoped.
If you just don't buy it, without stating why.... Well that's a lot like being dumped by a girlfriend or boyfriend with no explaination.
Voicing your satisfaction/dissatisfaction is how they learn.
It is folly to tell people their feelings are wrong.
They have every right to feel any way they want.
Shame on you folks telling them otherwise.

Or that like when I tell some one to leave my party they just simply vanish? Or the HUGE plot hole where some one I killed in DAO comes back and acts like I didn't even kill them?

Please folks, no fighting here.
To me, gaming (and movies, books, most recreation actually) always comes down to value for my dollar. Am I going to get good value for what they expect me to spend. If I think I will get my money's worth out of a product, I will purchase it. If I don't, I won't. I have bought games that take a long time, but I didn't really have fun (like Oblivion). I regret those. I've also bought short games that didn't take a long time, but were a blast to play (like God of War or Arkham Asylum) and I think I got my moneys worth or more.
We think that there is great value in Dragon Age: Origins Awakening. Depending on what you choose to do, there is anywhere from 10-30+ hours oif game play your first time through. Hopefully, you will also want to replay with otehr characters, new classes, etc which adds to the value. The team has not "rushed" this out as it has been in developement since before the launch of DA:O back in October (keep in mind we have multiple teams working at once) and I think they've done a great job.
Still, at the end of the day, it is up to each person to choose whether or not the value is there for them. Hopefully they will come to think it is, purchase, play and enjoy Dragon Age: Origins Awakening as we know it is a great game.
Wow.......I think the proper response Chris, is what exactly has created this feeling of not getting what you may have or may not have paid for? You know like maybe get feedback, take it seriously, like if someone is on the fence about something and messages you, you respond, rather than let concerns go unanswered.
I dont know maybe it's just me, I've always felt that if I do something or am a part of something and someone questions or asks why I do something a certain way or maybe they dont understand something, I prefer to assist them best I can to hopefully get them on the same page. Like I said probably just me.
It's kind of like you buy a Coke(if youre a pepsi person sorry), and Coke is good, then a product with a Coke label on it comes out, and you say: hmmm, I like Coke, this has a Coke label, should I get it, I mean I like Coke right? But should I buy it because of a label? Or do I need help in understanding what makes this special?
People for the most part loved Dragon Age: Origins, in the same respect LOVED Mass Effect 1, DLC for DA:O has been iffy, but still people for the most part love DA:O, then ME2 is released.......good game, I think nostalgia helps, but like with the DLC for Origins, some people may question products now regardless of what your definition of QUALITY may be. So asking them to shell out $40 for a standalone GAME, yes it expands on the universe but doesnt add to the 59-79 game that has been invested in already.
And DLC items do not transfer, items people paid for. See what I mean, not much incentive, doesnt mean, Awakenings is $H1T, it just means some people are confused or in opposition to the way things have gone is all.
Does this make them any less of a customer and fan???? No it doesnt, but if you just let it go by, and let these fans/customers get alienated then dont be surprised when they dont buy buy buy, and 1 or 2 may not matter to you guys, but let that add up over time and others following suite, then EA doesnt see solid numbers and uh-oh despite your talent they shut you down just like Pandemic.

My friend, I think a big part of the difference is that those who are on PC have gotten proper customer service, I'm glad you guys deserve a relatively bug-free gaming experience. Now the kicker, those of us who play on the consoles have NOT gotten proper customer service, no solid patches etc. We should have some bugs fixed too, we deserve that.
If Bioware would just throw us a damn bone then many, many of us would be right along with you talking up Bioware as a good/great company.

LoL Ummm Either you don't have a job or you don't use your own money to buy stuff...... however i have to agree with that guy. Why spend money on a product that doesn't meet the expectation of losing the money you worked hard for. This guy feels as if he's been swindled. The fact that you point out he has no registered games... what the hell does that even mean? Usually (MOST) people don't register games.

What blows me away is there are people that insist there is nothing wrong or out of place, that will never see the other side of the fence, and not even to open their minds once to the possibility that something other than their mindset or experience matters. It is that kind of thinking which in the end causes problems, if the world around you burned to the ground but left you untouched would you even consider it at all? With the type of thinking rampant in this community I doubt they would flinch for anothers misfortune.
I really hope you guys will get a real patch one day I really do, I hope your cries are heard, unfortunately again my cries will be heard with their wallet, because despite all the BW games I've bought and recommended to people, which in turn they've bought, well it aint happening anymore, I'm sure Dragon Age 2(hopefully for yall's sake as bug free as possible and PORTED BY BIOWARE INSTEAD OF 2nd RATE COMPANY LIKE EDGE OF REALITY) will be great, ME3 ehh not so much if it keeps getting stripped down to nothing more than bang bang dialog, bang bang, ooooo more heavy weapons, bang bang boom, simplified skill tree and less customization bang bang bang. But yeah hopefully you guys can get some support, because the way the economy is now, customer service and support is worth it's weight in gold ten times over.
