The former could, even though some will still dislike the choice, easily be explained through a 2 minute long cutscene. The latter should not even be a legitimate problem: I refuse to believe BioWare wasn't able to do what one mere fan could within a day.
Without these two imperfections (hell, even without just the former), I would rush to the nearest toy store and buy the game, even though the story itself might disappoint. I, however, am not willing to buy the expansion to a game about choices in which my final and most personal choice is simply omitted. That's just wrong.

Staying on topic.. Wel it is your decision whether you won't to buy the game or not. Bioware did everything they could, and for me it doesn't really matter if DLC items are carried over from original game..

Alright I'll give it the old college try, If you enjoyed the structure of DA:O then thats one advantage, since you have no reservations about the DLC issue, then one more reason you'll enjoy, if you dont mind that it's a singular entity separate from Origins meaning it's not a typical add-on expansion then there ya go one more reason.
If 15-20 hrs depending on replays is worth $40 then by all means give it a go.

DRAGON AGE: THE CALLING Copyright © 2009 by Electronic Arts, Inc. All rights reserved. A Tor Book. This is not some thrown together add on, it is part of the canon. So far, I think it is well executed and congruent to the final epilogue. Great Job, Bioware.

1. DA is one of the best games currently available
2. Anything I want from Origins that doesn't carry over to Awakening I can mod in using Toolset
3. The cost is irrelevant. I figure $40 is reasonable compared to various other entertainments (dinner at a restaurant and a movie for example).
4. So what if it has a few bugs? I don't care!
All this complaining means nothing to me.

I dont think anyone said it was an add on, because it isnt. You should drop a link for borders or amazon as to make the ease of purchasing even easier. Copyright © 2010 that's right I just copyrighted that statement lol. And yes all rights reserved.

Ok what about console gamers or multiplatform gamers, that have purchased for a console, and if you say some elitist BS then you have problems bud.

Ah yes, "canon". BioWare has shown how much they care about that when everything my character did was simply thrown out of the window.jamming777 wrote...

I think the issue is people don't even realize the cost production of games these days alone. I am surprised games are still under 100 bucks. I went and spent 80 bucks yesterday on nothing but 2 hours of booze and a burger at a bar with friends. It tooks some douche 5 minutes to prep me that burger and booze....I thus really have no issue spending 40 bucks on a game that took nearly a year to make. Fuk, even a subway sandwich is five bucks.
Development costs are sunk costs. Per unit production costs for software products are negligible (basically the cost of box, printed materials and disc). Distribution and transaction costs are paid by the retailer and passed on to the consumer.
Think of movies. Paranormal Activities cost $11,000 to make. Avatar cost over $200,000,000. Yet if you saw both in a regular theater, the tickets would cost the same amount.

Never had reason to buy a console, and most likely never will - for obvious (should be) reasons.Operative84 wrote..

Besides, even if I was afflicted with console limitations, I expect I'd still buy the expansion. Keep in mind I buy a new video game perhaps once every year or so. I'm not into buying a game, playing it for a few weeks, and then on to the next "latest and greatest". Therefore, whatever bugs this game has, I expect they'll most likely be fixed during the extended life of this game that I'll most likely enjoy.

I am with the OP on this one, there simply are too many questionable things such as retconning an entire endgame (Ultimate Sacrifice ending) and not porting the DLC items over.

This was the biggest issue for me. On the one hand, Mass Effect 2 raised the bar for continuity between episodes. My expectations for the same in Awakening are partly based on that (maybe unrealistically so). On the other hand, when I take into account the bugs, lack of full DLC support, and lack of integration of features to the original game, it feels like a sub-par product. What bugs me most about the DLC issue, is that they are being so half- assed about it. Some of it works, but some of it doesn't. And yeah, Chris' response was basically saying, it would require extra effort, and they knew the DAO fans would give them money anyways, so they decide to ship the product "as is" instead of delaying the release to make a fully integrated product.

I've never really gotten Chris, I message him about serious concerns questions that no explanation is available for, and nothing so I create a thread to get his attention and boom LOCKDOWN!!!! and REMOVAL...........At this point I expect as much from him as someone like Robert Bowling from IW.

I'm not insulting anyones hardware. Why would I insult an inanimate object? Neither am I saying I'm "better than everyone else". That would be an insult to whatever created us - and an arrogant expression that I could do better. I'm merely expressing my view from my indiviual perspective.Operative84 wrote...nice job insulting peoples hardware is always the way to go huh?

do you realize how overpowered your pc would be if you could go back to origins with awakening stuff?Livemmo wrote...
First of all, aside from importing a character from the original game, this 'expansion' has absolutely nothing to do with the original game. Yes, the storylines intertwine, but skills, companions, and even officially released DLC doesnt go back at all to the original story. The 'expansion' isnt even loaded into the orignal game at all.
If the community got together and made a team of say 5-10 people they could recreate this entire expansion in the same time it took bioware to put this together. Jesus christ atleast let us load it into our original game? This is such a HUGE let down to me and it FEELS like it was just thrown together just to make a quick buck. Horrible.
Bioware loses major brownie points with me on this and ive been a fan of this companie for a very long time. Its starting to be all about the money now - screw the fans. EA is rubbing off on them. I refuse to purchase this crap id rather remake it my damn self with the toolset.
TAKE THE TIME TO MAKE IT RIGHT DONT RELEASE UNFINISHED GARBAGE TO YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS

Consoles may or may not "suck" - depending on variety of criteria. One reason I avoid consoles is self-evident in the problems encountered herein.
you cant just say "I prefer PC, I respect that others choose to play on consoles of their choice and have paid for them accordingly just as I have paid for my PC, and on a side note the fact that I'm not being forced at gunpoint to play on a platform not of my choosing I wish the gaming community as a whole good fortune, and hope whatever technical issues they have are resolved and given equal attention across the board".
