Sometimes I think I should download my games from pirate sites instead of paying for them. You don't get the stupid "european release lag", or the "still unavailable on Steam" message...

Because that's totally legal and helps the situation, right?

I checked a short while ago (after 11am GMT, anyways) and still no luck. Some people on the Steam forum seem to think it's tomorrow that we get it.

Kinda funny that they were darn quick to withdraw the cash from my credit card and now there is absolutely no release date/time available on the steam site at all. No official word anywhere on the exact time of release. So basicly I just payed to play a game "sometime in the future". This is totally unacceptable.

Juggernawt; it's called a "pre-purchase" for a reason.

It's not the first game I've preordered on Steam and sadly won't be the last (I would've bought a box version if I wasn't <emp>forced</emp> into getting the Steam version.) The most annoying thing is that Steam employees enever come forward to actually tell -us- what's going on.

And yeah, things like this -do- make me want to pirate games, like Madhaus. Maybe it's not so bad in this situation, but Prototype releasing a week later was -just- enough time to make pirating tempting and the new Silent Hill being released like three months afterwards here was just long enough for me to lose interest in the game and never buy it. It's frustrating that as a legal, buying consumer I can't play my games whilst pirates are having their fun right now. It feels like punishment.

But meh, they'll keep punishing me and I'll keep buying their games anyway.

If I pre-purchase something I expect it to be availible when they state it is availible.  If not, I expect an explanation why.

If you go on the Store Page for Awakening, it doesn't have:

- A countdown timer

- A date

So I think it's just a waiting game for now. Other digital distributors in Europe (such as D2D) are saying it's an unlock on Friday. We can't say we should have it right now because there's technically no date for it at the moment.

There was a date a couple of days ago and it said 19th but it didn't specify a time. From my rather little experience with Steam, my guess would be it will be available tomorrow around 10AM GMT.

In their movies it's March 19th for Europe. So I guess we'll have to wait for tomorrow :-).

Allthough, I wonder why I could have bought it in the store today already.

If time were actually money I would expect a refund.

This release date debacle is ruining my entire schedule, and I can't play tomorrow.

Guess I'll have to wait 'till it's weekend to play a game everyone's already been playing for two sodding days.

Oh well, that's what you get for pre-ordering I guess...

I wonder that, too. It makes European customers feel like second class ones.

For my part, I'll never pre-purchase a Bioware product again, unless it has a VERY NICE promotion.

Steam will release it after Biowares lets them. All we asking that we get info when the game will be released. I dont mind if its today.. or tomorrow, but i just want to know when. So i dont need to check each hour.

EA's the publisher actually so they should be the ones calling the shots on when the game is released. What I have issues with is that steam is showing Awakening in the "new releases" list in the store and when you click on it you get to a stripped version of the product page where it says release date: 18th but a nice big picture with "pre order now"

That is my problem with steam atm, they seem to have called off all maintenance on the page since it was released in north america and now they just aren't quite sure what the hell to tell us ;D

Steam was definitely a s**t choice, it's my first time whith them and probably the last.

Pre-ordering a game exclusively on Steam should provide advantages, not keep you waiting. Everyone else already got the game : stores or download. And Steam sticks to the "not yet released" annoucement, without bothering with an explanation.

Well its officially 12.12am in Australia, so the idea that they were waiting for friday is a dud.

I would have gone and got the game from the store yesterday if I thought steam would actually give me a refund.

Amazing that this is how they treat the people who buy the game to support them.

I wonder if all the pirates out there are sorry they didn't do the right thing like us.

The countdown disappeared after it was released in the US, so i'm not holding my breath. If only EA would believe that Impulse has european customers too...

Steam usually works just fine but I generally find pre ordering digital copies puts you at a disadvantage since shops will usually tell you that you can pick up the game at time XX:XX while digital distributors kinda drop the game whenever they feel like it :P

Where does it say that? All it says is "OUT NOW"

It would be SO simple to just inform about the actual release date. Knowing that the game will be eventually released in x hours, or tomorrow, or next week, or whatever, we wouldn't have to check !

Pre-ordering should at least give you the right to know when to expect your order...
