As we all know (well those who have bought the game) There is a piece of paper inside that has the date of 02.01.2011. Does anyone know what this means? A new game maybe?

It's supposedly a release date for Dragonage 2. They are definitely cranking the midnight oil, 3 cheers for Bioware!

It's either that, or it is the next expansion to DAO. Until Bioware tells us which it is, we don't know, only that something is happening that day.

I can't imagine a full expansion coming out another year from now. EA has already stated that they plan to get DA2 out the door around that time. Hopefully it won't be rushed, but I have faith in my Bioware.

Well, I know what it is, but I think all I'll say is that this will be a pretty cool date for fans of Dragon Age.

I'm not sure I like the quick turnaround on Dragon Age II. It means it
won't be that much better from a technical standpoint. We'll probably
just get a new story with new characters like Awakening. Not that that
is necessarily a bad thing though.

Actually, I'd prefer if it wasn't too much better from a technical standpoint.  I'm more concerned with using the same tech that's already in place, and using the development time mostly on content.  The transition from BG1 to BG2 was staggering, and i'd like to see that happen again.

No it isn't a bad thing at all. Bioware turns out a very fine product and after spending a lot of money on crap games I don't mind further installments of DA at this level of production.

If its Dragon Age 2, its going to be the biggest disappointment since Spore. Its obvious that EA is planning to pull as much of an EA sports marketing plan as they can with ME3 and DA2. Fortunately, I'm not buying either one unless I get verification its not just a Gears of War 2, err, I mean DA:O/ME2 expansion marketed at $60.

After the Return to Ostagar fiasco I'm a little surprised they met their 3/16 target date.

+10 to BioWare

Just by having faith in your Bioware will not make the game any better. This is the first time I hear a developer releasing a sequel to an RPG (if that is the case) after only one year. Welcome to the world of EA. Personally, I hope this is the 2nd expansion, otherwise I will not be interested at all.

So what is exactly the difference between an "expansion" and version 2 of a game / program?

If it is DA2 it will be a key step in EA destroying another Game company to make a quick profit. Then when Bioware is ruined EA is going to sell it on.

The difference is that the latter might render any modding efforts, not to mention the toolset, useless.

Any chance you can give us a general idea on when some info will likely be dropped or are we going to have to wait and get that info from some online store in the Czech Republic again. ;)

P.S., "Soon" is not a general timeframe.

I hope it's another expansion, (as other people said), it's way too early to release a sequel to a RPG - not that i don't have faith in Bioware ... Well, maybe not EA.

*shrugs* Also, means more bugs (may be), new interface and less new content vs more content because they don't have invent the wheel again... Expansion pack (or very very large DLC) sounds more fun to me then a version 2
