It really makes Bioware look like Lazy twits when on Day 1 theres a Fan made patch to fix what they couldnt be bothered fixing.

This annoyed me to no end too. I thought my game was bugged when I ended up completely naked and Weaponless in Awakening.
Well, it won't annoy me because I have no intention of purchasing the expansion until the issue is fixed.

Bioware has been making games for this genre for a long time, long enough certainly to be aware that this sort of screw-up really alienates players. I've read somewhere that it was 'low priority' for them. That's just crapola. It was probably just in the too hard basket for whoever was responsible for it. Sack the 'twit' I sez and give his/her job to the fan who had a fix out within hours...
And if it truly *was* 'low priority' then sack whoever made that descision because s/he hasn't got a PR clue...

however transferring an old toon and finding yourself weapon-and-armor-less is kinda miss on Bioware's part

I think that's the daft part. It would have been one thing having a script which loaded up a toon with an 'equivalent' set of gear taken form the base installation gear set...
but just having the player load up in his underpants.... it's just absurd.

It is pretty silly that they didn't do this. It is not, however, a game-breaker for me. It wouldn't make me even think twice about whether or not I wanted to buy Awakening.

Being item-stripped per se doesn't bother me - heck, I did that to players myself in a NwN module - but it needs to be for a very, very good reason. In my case it was for a level playing field for combat, and although I supplied players immediately with appropriate (and cool gear) lots of folks really didn't like it. If there was money involved, some sort of dev/player 'contract' of any kind, I would never have done such a thing. It would be immoral.
I don't care in this case that replacement items are available quickly. It isn't the point. Just give me the stuff that I paid for in good faith...

sounds like DLC doesnt work only because they didnt code for it, not for any gameplay reasons.
Yep. There's a release day fix made by a community member. And that's what really gets my goat. Bioware, of all game-making companies, should *know* how much this sort of crap will alienate players. I read somewhere that fixing this issue was doable but 'low priority'. Wtf...
I've been a loyal fan of Bioware for a long time. But obviously they are no longer who they were. Someone alien is obviously pulling the strings there now, making these stupid decisions.

Uggh! My imported character is freaking naked! I could live with not having the kickass armor (I suppose) if I was given ANY freaking armor to wear! But no, I'm given a bra and panties in which to fight darkspawn! Why doesn't my freaking character just lie on the ground and let them take turns at her, FGS! This is ridiculous. /whining
I too suffer the same problem and couldnt have communicated my frustration better!!!!!!

Used the Wardens Keep and Stone Prisoner files and was pleasantly suprised they worked.
Most my other mods worked as well (Vibrant eyes, Grey Runic Warden Armor, Forgotten sword, Realistic look/Natural Bodies, Shady dealings, etc.)
Have just began playing, hopefully I don't hit any brick walls due to it.(mod)

that said...Cadesh stompers don't come over (they're from stone prisoner..shale's personal quest).
However, for the items that do...you can open a save from the game you want to import, (an after the game save...where you start and can only go to camp) and go to camp, which will also allow you to go to your chest in Warden's keep. You can strip items off anyone and sell anything and buy anything you want in the game (so I went back and got some other great boots for rogue, Duncan's sword and duncan's dagger, Aeducan's shield, and whatever else I wanted...and then saved. Then I restarted Awakenings and imported the same character again, and the one I had just saved after doing all the juggling came over, with the items I had retrieved.
A kind of workaround. You might not get starfang, but you can acquire the dlc items from the other ones and get other items your team members might have been wearing. So long as they're on you or in your inventory....
It's not perfect. But there are things about it I like, and it would sure be nice to see balanced discussions where people talk about the changes they made that were obviously inspired by our requests here on the forum, like being able to enchant armor with runes, and beefing up runecrafting in general.
What I do wish they had done, is make Awakenings seamlessly integrated into the Ferelden world, like Shivering Isles is with Cyrodil. You can go back and forth between them. Of course, you won't have access to Awakenings until after (because of the storyline) but after that, you are free to go back into Ferelden after a certain point.
I'm just dreaming now. I haven't played this enough to be emotional about how I feel about the entire expansion yet. Only about 3 or 4 hours since I restarted after resupplying my character to import.

Odd... this item came over for me... even all the fan mods worked (like someone said above) : hairstyles, eye colors, fan-made armor sets, etc.... Just Warden Keep (incl. Power of Blood spells, despite the icons showing in the spell tree with no name) and free DLC got lost in the transfer.
