My first play through in Origins I didnt know there was romances. I made it almost to the end (I think I was at the landsmeet) and came on the forums and saw there were romances. I ended up deleting my girl and starting over.

Damn.  He got busy right away with Mihari, I guess.  :P

That you could click and drag on the end of the action bar to make it hold more spells

(SPOILER) The fact that Mhairi dies in the beginning of Awakening (had I known, I would've gone back and taken her armor and weapons, which is what I did to the other 2 recruits from the beginning of origins).

All her gear is desposited into your inventory after she died. Even if this would go over your max item cap. So no need to worry. This actualy happens even in Origens too with for example Daveth and Jory at the joining.

This isn't as bad as some of the howlers that you guys are listing, but mine was discovering that level 4 Coercion and lockpicking weren't needed if you have a high enough Cunning.

Not very well known. Those skills add to your chance of success but its still just a Cunning Attribute check.

Also you can equip +Stat items and try again and you will sometimes pass. Like Ive equiped Key to teh city just to unlock some chests before then dequiped it. This is only really useful for Cunning rogues though as it allows you to bypass and gain a whopping 8 skill choices.

The fact that different types of poisons stack, or at least the damage from them does (don't know about stun chance). It's pretty humourous to see how much damage you can do when you click about 10 different poisons on your weapon. You can apply them one right after another too, it's instant to apply them.

The fact that Haste from two different mages STACKS. Moving and attacking at double speed is pretty insane.

The fact that Haste does NOT stack with Momentum (and actually cancels it out, resulting in almost no net speed buff).

Theres a cap of +100% attack speed I belive and Haste boosts it by 50% and Momentum by around 75% so with both you roll over and attack at a slower speed then if you had either of those skills on individualy.

Double Haste is impressive, partcicularly so if you have Two hand warriors.....

I read the spoiler forums a lot before I got through the game, but my big one was:

lockpicking Sten's cage.

I was like, "oh. well then. let's go."

Two more to add that I forgot earlier:
If you click then hold both mouse buttons, your character will move continuously while you control direction with the mouse.
Discovered the expanding quick bar completely by accident. I had the quick bar unlocked and was playing a mage character whom I Resumed after installing the patch. All of a sudden, there were all these extra slots. Had to experiment to find out how to do that for everyone else. I think this came in with the 1.03 patch?

"[A]atually, it's been there from the start."

*facepalm*

actually, it's been there from the start.  probably a holdover from the decidedly WoW interface they pretty much copied.

you can also hold right click and pan the camera around

D'Oh!  I always have to use Leli to convince matron...

So do I....do you unlock by using a rogue???

Yes, the lock on the cage is at a level low enough for a Rogue main character or Lelianna to open.

Right after the last slot, you can drag that line to the end of your screen (or where ever you want it). It's the outline of the hotbar. Don't know how long it's been there, but it works with 1.02 as well. I noticed it when I got a new monitor.

I kept getting spammed by abominations while fighting Uldred because I didn't know how to look around and use the Litany.

I'll twentieth the (PS3) radial menu scanning (tab on PC, I guess). I didn't figure this out till about halfway through my first playthrough.

My doh! moment was when I realized I should have bought DA:O for the computer. Because of my silly desire to support a system I had such wonderful times with before I had to wait a month longer than everyone else for RtO, I get no mods, less support, clunkier controls, long ass load times, less camera control...okay now I'm ranting so I'll stop. Even though I still totally enjoy the game, I just feel stupid that I COULD have gotten it for my shiny new computer and potentially had less frustration.

Others include leaving sten to die in Lothering.

Bringing a romanced alistair with me to kill the archdemon (seriously unexpected! I cried and then went back and made him sleep with morrigan. Ugh,,,hard choices....)

realizing that other conversations and quests open up with approval ratings.

I'm in the same boat regarding console v. PC. I've since gotten the PC version (mainly to fart around with the toolset) and found it much more enjoyable. I still felt compelled to get the expansion for the 360 as I had already finished the game on the 360 and wanted to further my warden's story. I am, however, going to start another character on the PC version that isn't supplied with the way OP gear I made for everyone.

here's a really great one that I can't believe I actually had trouble with, during my very first run through I couldn't find my camp...seriously even though I was staring at it the whole damn time I couldn't find it what a waste of money all of those injury kits were...I'm so ashamed....

I just found out that not only does +% to backstab have a cap, it actually resets if you go over the cap (which is +200% by the way).

It's a while ago now of course, but with my first character I killed Wynne without knowing she was a potential companion. I am still not sure exactly how it happened but I had Morrigan in the party and was combative about blood mages and the like, and in a very unlike Wynne move she attacked me. Well, big surprise, she died and I just thought she was another boss to kill.

Another one for me was that you didn't have to pay for the manuals of specialisation (i.e. shadow, battlemage, legion scout etc). Just save the game, buy the manual for 12g from the vendor, it will unlock the specialisation. Reload the game to restore the 12g you spent and the specialisation remains unlocked. I lost a lot of gold before I figured this out.

Cheers,

Koth

I wish I knew Blood Wound was so ridiculously overpowered. I would have gotten Blood mage first instead of AW.
