Confirmed - Any stat increases you get from books or from objects like the fonts in The Fade in Sloths Nightmare in circle tower do not carry over.

That sucks dogs balls, like the fence would say in The Witcher! Books and the Fade are part of DA:O, not some DLC! What's the in-character explanation for removing them? And books are quite expensive when you consider the total gold you might have spent on them!

I was naked to. Everything I had was DLC, except for Duncan's Sheild. I had to go back to an auto save before I met Sandal on the first floor of castle. I have the armour of diligence now...I should find something better..

Wow, no attributes that you earned through the fade. That is wrong. You played it through that way. Maybe a new patch will fix this, fingers crossed here. I'm sure going to miss that Starfang Blade. I've got to learn to do this mod stuff with the toolset.  I bought every Skill and Sundry book I could find.

So, the best advice is to go to your epilogue save and take non dlc items and any inventory from warden's keep and place them in your inventory before you port. Am I correct on this?  Which means I'll have to go to the camp and strip everyone.  Leave them in their undies. :devil:Image IPB

Do you keep only the gear your character is currently wearing or do items stored in your bag transfer as well?

So far, it's my understanding that all in your bag inventory does port with King's Armour if you've played Ostagar.  Raid your party chest at WK before you port.   All DLC will not port.  Geez, going to miss my daggers the The Edge as well.

Oh well, that also means that Duncan's Sword and Dagger do port then.  Good to know.

So can you start a fresh level 1 in the new expansion?

My main toon is still playing the original DAO, not done with the game yet, on the last chapter tho...then I will import him

base level is 18 on awakening. You can start a new character in the expansion, or transfer any character from origins. If the character is  lower than 18, it will get buffed to 18; however if the character is higher than 18 it will maintain its current level.

You dont need to have completed the game to import. As long as theres a save file you can import the character.  As a test to see I imported my Human Noble who was still in his origen story.
I started awkening at lvl 18 and in Warden armor.

Wasn't true for my rogue.  I imported with the exact same stats.  You will lose any pre-RTO DLC items (unless you're on the PC and using the mod) and thus any stat bonuses associated with them, but you keep the permanent stat increases from the Fade and books.  Don't know if you keep them after a respec though.  I'd suspect not but I haven't tried it yet.

Is it confirmed that you lose the stat increases? I might have another explanation. In Origins, you can equip certain armours and weapons without having the appropriate stats. Example: My warrior that I transferred over has something like 38 strength without any equipment. With the Blood Dragon Plate, Key to the City, and Lucky Stone, he had much more strength than that: enough to equip Wade's Dragonbone Plate Armor. However, when that whole set is equipped, he's got 42 strength. If you take off The Lucky Stone, he's only got 41 strength, but the armor will stay on. So when he goes to Awakenings, the game recognizes "Oh hey he's not strong enough to use that" and forces me to un-equip it.

That was just my guess anyways.

I just picked up DA: Awakening and the import went fine when my wife imported her character. She had on the Juggernaut armor at the end of Origins and that is what she started with in Awakening. We have it for PS3 and on the disk there was a patch that was included with it. I don't know what you everyone is playing it on but it seems that import is working fine.

Character import is glitchy and mods (like no autolevel) have some very odd consequences. If non-DLC items and stats are not importing correctly, try deleting the import and re-import. Others have reported that sometimes fixes the problem.

Personally, I'm just going to run around Amaranthine nekkid for a while. That seems to be the dev's intent when they decided not to support their own friggin DLC.

I think it follows Terminator time portal rules. You have to find someone of a close build and ask them for their clothes, boots and motorcycle.

:D

My mage keeps trying, but their clothing keeps turning into crispy critters with them.  I wonder if I can get additional backstab damage or something for the sheer shock value of the naked elf-mage arlessa waltzing in to kick butt.

either that or a 15% chance of blinding the enemy with her motorboat tactics haha

plus you have to find John Connor so he can help you defeat the giant terminator in ME2

Perhaps the nakedness explains why her new companions won't speak to her and Oghren doesn't like her anymore.  I wouldn't think that it would chase my dog away, but perhaps he is searching Fereldon for my missing clothes and armor.

he found them but he gets an error message that the DLC wont work in Awakening, and Oghren is avoiding you because he saw the tampon string hahaha

The way I see it, Mhairi woke me up in the middle of the night to drag me to Vigil's Keep, and I didn't have time to get dressed.

Either that, or she found me in The Pearl. ;)

Well, the devs seemed to think that mages should run around in next to nothing in the snow in DA:O (seriously, with most of the mage robes on a female PC I was expecting to moon the darkspawn to death or do a pole dance with my mage staff). So, maybe they decided that mages should wear even less at the sea-side?

Sigh. As long as I absolutely ignore any hope for continuity and pretend that this game has no relation at all to DA:O, it isn't bad. I should just play as an Orlesian. It would be less disappointing.
