Ok sorry for this rant. I am ready and willing for the flame. But this is how I feel about the game so far.

And Dalish Origin spoiler:
You eventually get ambushed at camp out of nowhere by a large group of Shreiks.
And I had thought the whole point of not having your companions from Origins as playable companions in Awakenings was so that you don't disrupt the continuity character established in Origins in case they do decide to have you pick up where you left off in the next game. (which is not confirmed, but not discounted, either.) So why is it that Ohgren becomes a Grey Warden, then, yet you couldn't bring Zevran or Leliana with you... It makes no sense.
If this tanks, I hope they will disregard it continuity wise, as from what I'm hearing so far, I'm not interested in buying it.

Actually, yes, I would like to hear about Felsi. No great details, but wow, he gets married, has a child, and leaves them both? With ZERO comment? And my warden who was in a political marriage with Alistair is suddenly in love with him (COULD be a bug, who knows). *sigh* Grumpy so far! Still hoping it gets better!
Oh wow, I just replayed at least ten hours on one of my characters last weekend so I could have both a "political marriage" save and "marriage for love" endgame save. Great to know that was all for nothing...

It could have been a bug. I will attempt it on another political marriage character -- I had another character import in completely bugged out as well. Actually, I would double check and see if she had the "still in love" flag. She shouldn't have, and she definitely was in a full romance with Zevran at the end, but one of my characters may have had it.
Edit: No, it was DEFINITELY a political marriage at the end, (got the ruler and savior ending so only a friend flag).

What's that? No, I can't buy it in the store unless I want to round trip a 170 miles by car. Sounds like I'll just listen to the pain instead of feel it. I do hope it gets better for anyone not happy, did it at least improve any performance issues?

Um, no. These aren't high school kids knocking out a random bit of code. These are professionals and they can actually do their jobs. I don't expect the game to be ridiculously huge but I can damn well expect them to do their jobs and keep up with the big plot points they put in.hetfool wrote...
It is just an expansion that we payed around half the price for (well I did) ... I don't expect it to be as in depth as DAO as a result. I am enjoying the action so far, but I have found a bug with the Smugglers quests in the main city.

I would have rather not had the marriage acknowledged at all, or for them to have been formal, than for the marriage to become, somehow, a romantic one. This is beyond not having my warden's romance partner in it; this is giving her an entirely different romance partner. Would anyone have liked leaving the game with Leliana in a full romance to come back to now being in a full romance with Zevran? I know a lot of people don't care about that kind of stuff. But the romances were something that made Origins special to a lot of us.
Anyway, it's not that big a deal, really. I paid my money and I'll play the game, and I'm still giving it a chance. I don't think it sucks or anything. I really haven't played it enough to have made a decision yet.
Edit: Ok, I'm over it now! But I had to complain!

Oh wow, that's 100% awesome! This means that I don't have to go all the way back and romance Alistair to be the queen and he loves me, I just have to replay only the landsmeet part of the game in which I can force him to marry me...
*Evil laughs* Thanks for this info! Much appreciated!! >:-D

You wouldn't have to anyway. At least you shouldn't have to. You can turn on the romance at any time. Even just before the landsmeet if you've never romanced him.

So my intention was to pick up somewhere and romance Alistair properly... until now, that I know that I only need to force him to marry me and we'll live happily ever after anyways.
Who knows, maybe he warmed up to you while being married? :-)
PS: anyways, what's that sekrit way in which you can activate the romance at any time? :-)

It speaks a lot to the talent of the writers, the dev team and the scripters that they managed to ensure it remained entertaining and it is. But there are a lot of "huh?" moments that are difficult to justify without further extrapolation which never comes. After the rich character interaction and deep immersion of DAO, this seems well...like a furious quickie (Pardon my Orlesian)

I really don't like Awakening. The story feels too rushed, the characters are rather shallow(aside from Anders and maybe Nathaniel Howe) and underdeveloped and the Big Bads are...STUPID. The Keep part was just ridiculous - so what, you pay a mason, you clear the basements and bring ore to Wade so he can make armor for your recruits...and that's it? I'm just saying that if this were an ordinary RPG, I'd consider it good but this is Dragon Age and BioWare could do so much better.

I had a feeling the keep would play out just as the stronghold from NWN2.
