At 4 hours in, I was unhappy with Awakening. I'm 8 hours in now, and not unhappy with it. The first bit doesn't feel right, but it does get better.

I'm irritated and disappointed that I can't romance any of the guys. It's kind of a perk you are used to getting with Bioware games. Bummer and a letdown.

I still haven't figured out what to do with it though and how to use it.
Does it change the symbol on your shield? Or the shield of your soldiers?

I clicked on the one I bought, and that new symbol went to my shield. The shield I was carrying was Duncan's Shield.

I don't know. I tried the Cousland symbol and I had Duncan's shield. Didn't work the first time.

I like it so far. Of course, I've only gotten so far as the home base starter quests and a couple in Amaranthine. And yes, I KNOW you aren't supposed to be able to romance any of the guys, but I have found out that you can still flirt a tiny bit And hey, it's not bad being accompanied by 3 handsome men even if you aren't supposed to be er... dallying. Serves Al right for being off wherever he is (this PC didn't make him king).

I liked the entire sidequest about a traitor in the nobles, but it should've been resolved by your own involvement if you didn't do anything instead of somebody showing up going "AH HA! I BETRAY YOU!"

Sounds like it would be more fun to play it from a new game perspective. I'm just a little peeved that I start the game NAKED!

I put the Cousland herald on Howe's shield. It also put a smile on my face.

Nah, thing is, in my last playthrough I didn't romance or even marry him (because I was testing my mod, so I was romancing somebody else, who would have gotten super pissed if I'd have married Alistair, even in a fixed marriage :-D )

So my intention was to pick up somewhere and romance Alistair properly... until now, that I know that I only need to force him to marry me and we'll live happily ever after anyways.

Who knows, maybe he warmed up to you while being married? :-)


PS: anyways, what's that sekrit way in which you can activate the romance at any time? :-)

It's no secret.  Just tell him, "Has anyone ever told you how handsome you are."  If he was never romanced, you should have that line.  And you can turn on the romance all the way up to the archdemon.

Yeh, I'll probably play it that they were keeping up appearances.  But for now, I loaded up a character that ended with Alistair at -100 hostile so on the odd chance there's a reference to Zevran, I won't miss it because of the "romance" with Alistair.

Not that I expect that... Because I know it's not gonna happen.

i just got the game and imported my human noble rogue. Guess what, my equipments such helm of honnleath, harvest festival ring and cadash stomper was missing. I was fighting dark spawn with bare feet... Is that a glitch? 1 hour into the game and i am hating it. Make me want o go play DAO again instead of this.

Guess your better off then me, so far the expansion has made me not want to play at all.

WHY does everyone kneel to Alistair? Including his wife? I certainly didn't see anyone kneeling to Cailin or Anora in Origins.

Odd, my rogue came in with the cadash Stompers, Duncan's sword, Duncan's Dagger...etc, etc.  as a matter of fact I had to load my old game and go clean out the inventory so I could loot in the beginning.

Actually you can, if you talk to Veral after Tamrya coems to you about the conspiritors you get the option to seek out the Dark Wolf in Amaranthine, he isnt even that hard to find as a guard gives you a letter from him, you pay him 50 soveriegns and he goes off and gets info for you. you come back a little while later and he tells you that the consipiritors meet at Starks Farmstead and you can go there and kill them. That way when you have the first council meeting Tamyra isnt murdered and its not even mentioned because they are already dead.

Also as I posted in another thread:

As a HNF I married Alistair and he did mention it as he called me Dear Wife and wished he could stay with me then kissed me on the cheek and left. Ok so they mentioned it but really in all the time i'm in Amaranthine, why isn't he sending me soppy love letters? there should be at least *somethng* ala Kaidan/Ashley in Mass Effect 2. It's like hey wife go out kill darkspawn, im not gonig to check up on you because you're so bad ass, see you in a year or so.
Oh and IMO, I swear Anders reminds me sooooo much of AListair, he even looks like Cailan and he talks JUST like Alistair (imo) not the exact same voice but his tone and personality it's like AListair never left! THere are even a few flirty moments with him AND my approval with him is LOVE!?!?! what the hell lol. But now I can't talk to him anymore. I'm fine with the no romances but there so could have been something between him and the Player or god forbid -

Romance options in video games are terribly contrived and awkward. They're just pixels on a monitor people. Those of you complaining about the lack of them are huge dorks and should go outside and get a girlfriend/boyfriend.
