You're all pathetic. Really.

I think if I did that my husband would be terribly mad.  But thank you for your input

So just because we like the involvement and character interaction of romances we are pathetic?

I'm actually in a very happy relationship but I like to be involved in the story and the fct that Alistair as the husband of my character talks to her for 30 seconds then disappears for the rest of the game seems a bit contrived to me. Seriously he is madly in love (apparently) but he doesn't seem to check up on or see the character in what I am assuming will be a few months to a year...

I'm actually glad Mhairi didn't make it. Her constant ragging at the more interesting Oghren and Anders made her really grating. Maybe I've just taken Oghren into the Fade and to the Gauntlet too many times but I can't stand it when everyone belittles him. Even DAGNA does it. She's, like, the most adorable character in the game. And everyone always asks like being an Apostate is the worst thing in the world but the only reason my character's even alive is because of Morrigan so I'd kind of disagree. I do have to wonder why they keep locking Anders up instead of making him a Tranquil, though. They do it for worse than constantly attempting to escape the Chantry.

And I definitely hate how my character suddenly sucks at fighting and the Starfang is gone.

So if you are just playing for the action, why don't you go out and take fencing lessons or something? I mean, it's so pathetic...they're just pixels d00d.

Lots of us play these games for the story, and romantic stories are just as valid as any other kind. Just like in movies with romantic storylines...does that mean anyone who likes a movie like that is a huge dork who can't get a boy-/girlfriend? Do you only like movies with pure action, and no drama/romance? Because otherwise, HURR U JUST NEED 2 GO OUTSIED N TOK 2 PPLZZZ LOL!!!

But you can rest easy. Your mission has been accomplished. We all think you're really cool.

In most games with romance, I start them completely by accident. Just being nice and all of a sudden you're in a tent under the stars. Eh.. Sounds about right. Just have to remember to leave the falchion out of sight. ;)

You know what feels really lacking though? No single weapon combat. Why can't you have one hand free to do some side damage or debilitation? It's a really effective way to fight! Maybe you can't punch a dragon in the gut, but why not a genlock? (dirty fighting for warriors).

I have yet to see anyone post anything about a HNM transferring over and whether they are acknowledge as the king if they married Anora. Anyone tried that yet to see what lame comment is made to acknowledge it. Or is it forgotten completely?

I don't see why it wouldn't. It acknowledges a HNF who marries Alistair as queen. Though it's kind of weird because it does NOT take approval level into account. But that wouldn't be an issue with Anora anyway.  Marriage to Alistair apparently cannot be political, no matter how it was in Origins.

I'm not sure what I think about awakenings yet. The fights are good. The characters, I like them. But it's not pulling me in at all. It doesn't feel like Origins. When I played Origins, I could NOT stop playing. I wanted to see what happened next. Here, I'm very meh.

It's an ok game, but it would have been better as a standalone game I think, rather than a continuation of DA:O. DA:O is SO good -- any game would have trouble in comparison. Awakenings in order for it not to be fairly disappointing would have to be just as spectacular, and it isn't. So I'm trying to play it as a standalone game. And it does have its good points.

But I am disappointed. Ah well. Maybe after a few more hours my opinion will change. I just need to lower my expectations.

ejoslin, I agree that it isn't as immersive. Part of that is perhaps that we don't have the Origin to go through, so we don't feel as in touch with our character. It doesn't help that there are only brief references to any choices we made in the first game. It's more like you were dropped by a helicopter into the world and start fighting darkspawn than that you have a long history and are a part of the story.

Allow me to first say this: I loved Origins. I slobbered over and practically procreated with that game. I've played every origin story through to the end, save for the castless dwarf which I'm getting around to. I obsessed over the game and I waited like a hyper active fan girl for awakening.

Now that I have it, I'm not impressed.

When importing my character I simply don't get the feel of the impact of any of the choices I made in origins. It's as if nothing I did in the rest of fereldan matters in my new land.

As an example, it's already been revealed that we get Oghren back, so this isn't a spoiler. In Origins that drunken dwarf was practically in love with me. I checked his loyalty meter now and it was back to square one with him, which doesn't make a lick of sense.

As for the rest of the characters...a lot of this just doesn't come together. For one thing we had romances in origins. I've been in love with everyone but Morrigan and I agreed to remain with all of them at the games end. What happens to your beloved when you go to Vigil's keep? I see no reason for a seperation and if there was, you get no explination and no mention of them. It makes very little sense and is something they very obviously just sort of shrugged thier shoulders at and went 'meh, oh well.'.

Your new companions lack any of the endearing qualities of the old. You can't even walk up to them and start a conversation, they just spout nonsense at you like any random, unimportant npc. You can't get to really know them on your own terms and, seeing as that was also a big part of what made origins great, it just puts a sour taste on the game. Not to mention it makes figuring out what gift to give to who a huge pain in the ass.

And why in the hell am I running all over the place doing beggars tasks? In origins your basically an outlaw, you need to scrap up gold everywhere you can, so taking up all these side missions makes sense. In Akawening I'm the GODDAMN QUEEN. If I need money and men, couldn't I just send a note to my husband and tell him to send some? It doesn't make any sense.

I fully admit that brining all the details and complex choices made in a previous game when importing your charcter would have been a monuemntal task. So many little descions that could affect the world. BUT: that's what this game is about. That's the beauty and draw of it. My actions matter. It doesn't feel that way in awakening.

Basically put, it's Dragon age origins with the guts carved out. It's a fun toy but there's not much really to it. Having played it for roughly 8 hours already, I feel confident in saying that I regret buying it. Should've waited to rent it or soemthign.

I loaded a chacter I hod forgot married Anora. She basically calls you husband and I tihnk one option says she has no desire to find another husband when asked if she is upset to see me still alive. I think she even calls you "My prince". She does not hug or kiss you or anything though. She did seem alot friendly to me then at the end of Orgins. Not sure that helps and that is about as far as I have gotton into the game.

You know why you can't talk to anyone in Vigil Keep? BECAUSE ITS FREAKING UNDER ATTACK! Would you really want to discuss family business in the midst of a battle?

Understand the tedium of running the Vigil. Okay with that. Even understand that this is a mission and mind can't be on romance.

Maybe it's me but I haven't found any of those flags to talk to npcs. Would like to get to know Anders and Howe. I miss the click and play dialogue. I miss being able to talke to my traveling pcs.

Bioware, you really let me down.

It might as well be Oblivion. Another loot and kill game.

Just use TAB frequently as you travel the world and it will show you what you can click on. They've got a good amount of dialogue.

Yarr, there be SPOILERS below!

I really don't like Awakening. The story feels too rushed, the characters are rather shallow(aside from Anders and maybe Nathaniel Howe) and underdeveloped and the Big Bads are...STUPID. The Keep part was just ridiculous - so what, you pay a mason, you clear the basements and bring ore to Wade so he can make armor for your recruits...and that's it? I'm just saying that if this were an ordinary RPG, I'd consider it good but this is Dragon Age and BioWare could do so much better.
On a side note, Sir Pounce-a-lot <3

Exactly, my thoughts as well.  I love Anders, Oghren (though I wish we got a reason why he left Felsi and his child), and haven't gotten Nathaniel Howe yet so I can't comment on him.

The story so far just feels rushed.  Hell, I was thinking it woudl start with the Warden Commander starting at the capital talking to Alistair and other lords there before going to Warden's keep so you can get a feel of what's happened.  I would've preferred the release to be delayed by another year if necessary if it enabled them to make the story flow more smoothly and feel more complete.

Now I know there is items to get character discussion but still, I miss DA:O's way of interacting with the characters.

Anyway, is any explanation given as to how your dead warden comes back for Awakenings?

I haven't played it too much but I have Oghren, Anders and Howe. I will say that everything seems to be going so fast. The story is blinding fast and it feels like you are getting hit with so much information in a such a short time.

Anders is now my new Spirt Healer forever and I will bite anyone that takes him from me. Howe really surprised me and I just feel sorry for the bloke. I'm just stunned at what happend with Mhairi. I REALLY wanted her to stay around. I never really talked to Oghren in Orgins so to have a sword and board warrior since Alistair isn't there was going to be wonderful. However, we all know how that worked out.

I do too.  But I like Anders better, something about him just makes my pc go all gaga.  Good thing there's no romance in this cause I'd really be torn, and I'm married to Alistair.  That makes my pc be good lol

Question: To those who romanced leliana or Zevran, or those who romanced Alistair but never made him king, is there any mention of your love or where your dearly beloved is hanging out during this expansion? Or are such romances non-existant?
