I'm not minding the gameplay or new companions at all (I actually adore Anders and Nathaniel), but it feels so incredibly isolated. I half-wonder if it has been done on purpose- for further expansion/sequel reasons it will minimize any real impact you can have on the world.

I don't know for sure. Can tell you that I ran into Wynne. Perhaps they will make a special appearance as well.
