Regarding games- what few are available for mac are mostly *ported* from a PC and so can never run as smoothly as those made specifically for mac. Even so, they usually require less hardware resources.

Okay, those had to be older than 2 years. But it's like this- imagine that you are buying a new PC, you get teh best motherboard available at the time, best video card, you fill that mb with best *everything*, except maybe leaving yourself the room for eventual ram upgrade. Five years later- what happens?

Edit: It just occured to me here that the reason you needed new macs is because new software was made for the new Intel processors only.

The same thing that happens to a five year old mac? :innocent:

I actually only think they were 3/4 years old, but...still, it wasn't a NEW program. Was it Final Cut Pro? Hmm...I forget. Posted Image

I can upgrade my PC, and you have to buy a new Mac?

That sounds too fishy. I dare say someone was
pulling your leg.

Nope, unless you change everything. You already reached the peak with that mb.

You do know that you can remove components and replace them with better components, correct?

...Well, what did you mean by "fill"? Physical space, or how much the MB can feasibly handle? Posted Image

OMG, I had *no idea* you can replace PC components...

Seriously- do you really save money in the long run, also considering how (often unjustifiably) resource-hungry PC applications are?

Started with a mac 15 years ago. Certainly had nothing against it personally, except the HDD was made by Seagate and crashed majorly within a year or so, which permanently &%*&ed 700MB of space. That was a lot back then too.

Been a Windows user ever since I learned how to put one together myself. Much more fun that way.

Edit: Well, technically I started with a KayPro when I was 3 years old. Played a lot of Carmen Sandiego on that green screen. Anyone remember 5.25" floppys?

All I know is that every time I try to be creative on a mac by doing HTML, PHP, using Photoshop or 3ds Max, it ****s itself and dies because it can't handle anything.

Also, it's overpriced for the hardware you get.

Mac's can't even run 3ds Max (windows-only software), so you're just telling bullsh*t here, obviously.

Upgrae your PC, with a mobo that's 5 years old or even older? Yeahhhh right.

My brother owns a 5 years old PC. He wanted to upgrade it but guess what? His 6 years old mobo doesn't have AM3 and he can't puth more than 2GB DDR2 RAM in it. Which means there's actually not much to upgrade for him, which is why I'm building a new PC for him right now.
