I have been checking back here time and time again, mainly for an update on the no helmet addon. Then finally I found
this thread. All credit to xatmos2 and Xrd8o, and KigenBarzhad for starting that thread, you can finally play without showing your ugly helms

I use and have tested this fix on Yonline2's
No Helmet Hack mod, I have NOT tested this on Dan_upright's
Helm Removal Mod also found on Dragon Age Nexus.
Now to sum up the fix, which The_Admiral beat me to above since it is similar in concept

but just to describe it specifically for the helm removal mod and also to explain how to get it working for both DAO and DAA, not just one or the other. Before you start remember you need a program that can save xml files correctly after being edited, I use the free
XML Notepad.
1. Make sure you have installed the no helmet hack addon I linked above, then open Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\AddIns.xml (or wherever it is for you)
2. find the line for No Helmet Hack. Duplicate the whole item / section / node that relates to No Helmet Hack. (you are doing this so it will still work in DAO and not just in DAA). I dont have the file here at work with me, can go into more detail when I get home but remember you must duplicate the entire no helmet hack section not just the one line.
3. in the duplicate, change the line
ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player" to ExtendedModuleUID="DAO_PRC_EP_1"
So basically you now have two identical entries in the xml file for no helmet hack. The only difference is one has a line :
ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player"
while the other has a line :
ExtendedModuleUID="DAO_PRC_EP_1"
4. Save the Addins.xml file
You should now be able to hide the helm graphic in both Origins and Awakening. Remember to just double click the 'No Helmet Rulebook' with the relevant character selected, to toggle hiding or showing the helm.
Thank you The_Admiral for this informative thread. Seems to me this fix can be applied to other addons too? Feedback and testing welcome
