I really like mordin. His backstory and in combat.

However my friends were shocked when they heard that i used him in combat. They said that he sucked! I play as a vanguard and when i'm in deep in enemy territory I find it useful for him to use neural shock to lock an enemy down and reduce the fire on me. Incinerate is also amazing against armor.

What do you guys think? Does mordin suck or is he good?

I would also love to hear some of your mordin builds :)

His character is awesome, which for me makes it irrelevant if I have to go a series of mission replays because he may not be ass efficient as others. In the end I think it is ridiculous to outright claim that he sucks. Area incinerate absolutely destroys husks, which is the main cause of any problems I run into playing as Infiltrator.

He is pure money against organics but against mechs and geth he is pretty terrible.

Mordin has the 4th best survivability out of all teammates and if you discount Legion (since he is acquired late), he is actually the 3rd most durable. Mordin is an absolute beast when faced against armor and/or organics.

You can pick up Legion quite early on. It's possible to get Legion after completing Horizon and one recruitment mission (Samara's, Thane's or Tali's). The Collector Ship mission is triggered after recruiting 6 squadmates and completing 5 loyalty/recruitment or N7 missions. Picking up one additional squadmate and completing 4 N7 missions will do. This means you can have Legion at your side during all loyalty missions and 2 recruitment missions (I really recommend Tali's) and the Suicide mission. That's about half the game.:)

The downside is that your crew get turned into Reaper sludge because you spent too much time before trying to save them.

Mordin has the best shields in the game.So he is a good surviver.Incinerate is great against armor, his special omnitool improves this even further. With cyro freeze and neural shock he has also crowd control. He is the number one against bloodpack enemies.

I always bring Mordin for Blood Pack and husk missions, incinerate is too useful.

He is far more deadly then he seems. I had him during Grunt's loyalty mission for example. He simply pawned.

Don't Listen to your friends he is super good especially early games his incinerate dominates unshielded enemies and vorcha/krogan any enemy that has armor he simply dominates. I use him on almost every mission up to getting samara with reave with few exceptions. Him paired with Miranda's overload you can get double kills really easy even against shielded enemies.  He is even good against mechs unlike most of these people are saying all the mechs have armor fenris, loki, ymir all have armor and its just again a matter of order instead of overload first to strip shields you use incinerate to strip the armor then overload to incompacitate works with loki and fenris mechs.  Just a matter of combining skills and using them in the correct order to be the most effective.

I prefer to max out full cryo blast and incineration blast asap, then start putting points into his passive. I think neural shock for him is completely redundant because of full cryo blast, which has a much shorter cooldown. Furthermore, cryo blast is instant for mordin unlike for sentinels/engineers.

Max Incinerate first In my opinion go for Incineration blast, the area one. For the first few lvls I almost exclusively use Mordin Incineration Blast and Miranda Area Overload to deal with most of the mercs/vorcha/krogan for any class. From there you can go for mordins gardian talent maybe putting 1 point into cryo blast for situational use. In end game it is up to you weather to go 10 in cryo or 10 in his gardian stat. Not really a fan of neural shock just have not used it that much. He is my Number 2 squad mate next to miranda up to and including Horizon.

He is the best to talk to, his 'sex talks' crack me up. Combat wise he works well on armor.

I loved using Mordin with my Vanguard as well. However, as much as I like his character I have hardly used him during my other playthroughs. Infiltrator is just too good against armor with Incinerate and cryo ammo to have to worry about that. I have found Zaeed, Garrus, Tali, & Miranda to be my favorites with my Infiltrator. I absolutely love Mordin though and I talk to him as much as possible. IMO his loyalty mission is the best in the game as well...

I'm fairly certain that cyro blast and neural shock have the same cooldowns (9 secs) but I agree they both serve similar purposes.  Sadly the only way possible to get 3 maxed out talents on Mordin is to max incinerate, passive, and neural shock.  Choosing to max cryo blast leaves your passive sitting at rank 3 only since only Jacob and Miranda gets 30 points to spend :(

I loved Mordin's character but in combat he was a little weak. Same problem as Tali really - poor weapons and overspecialized abilities. He's really good on his loyalty mission though.

Mordin has one of the best battle lines in the entire game:

"Thought I was harmless, did you?!"

Which is enough reason to bring him along whatever the situation :P

In the end Cryo vs Neural Shock both incapacitate but cryo you get a 100% increase in dmg and the duration of the two do not matter because 90% of the time a frozen enemy is dead by the time he is thawed or gets back up after the thaw. Therefore imo Cryo > Neural Shock

Mordin's Cryo blast normally does have a cooldown of 9 sec, but the evolved Full Cryo Blast has a cooldown of 4.5 sec, IIRC. Regardless, it's the lowest cooldown of any team member ability.

Neural Shock kills husks instantly.
I never saw that cyro blast did that. Also the stun is as long as the cooldown,so mordin could use it permantently after it wears off.

The cryo blast definitely insta-kills unarmored husks. And as mentioned before, full cryo blast has half the cooldown of neural shock.
