I thought it was a mod, there was already a thread about this same thing earlier. social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/127/index/1746986/5#1758804FieryDove wrote...

So, this brings to question (if the mod works 100% as advertised) - if the player mod community can 'fix' this DLC import dilemma the same day the game launches... why hasn't it been done officially?
Bioware doesn't want to fix it.

They worked on this game for a year and didn't find a way to import the items. Game is out for one day and somebody has fixed it.
Perhaps Bioware was able to do this but for some reason decided not to.

I only had Stone Prisoner, but I just imported a Rogue and he is wearing Cadash Stompers and Helm of Honnleath right now....

Nominated for post of the year. Seriously.
I used to dismiss the whole "geez Bioware modders could do that in a weekend with a 24 case of mountain dew code red" as completely retarded. But then this happens.

I think they cannot distribute updates to DLCs that easily, e.g. the Blood Dragon Armor v1.1 has to be updated by the user him/herself also.
That means, if they really cannot update DLCs with in-game system, they would have to build a patch which modifies not only the installation folder of the game but also every user account on that computer. And for that the patch installer must get system privilege in order to make sure to overwrite all users' security settings on their documents folder. And that has to work for user management systems on WinXP, WinVista, Win7 and now even OSX.
If the in-game DLC installer IS ABLE to update DLCs, then you are right. Then they don't want to fix or are too lazy or don't know their toolset/engine as good as some modders do.

Without having tried the mod/patch myself, it's possible that it works in some "inelegant" way that Bioware wanted to avoid, such as simply spawning all the DLC equipment in inventory.outlaworacle wrote...

The Stone Prisoner stuff may have slipped through because of that particular "DLC's" history - it was something that was originally intended to be in the main game and everyone who didn't buy DA second-hand would have it, so it may have had higher priority.
Still, this does mean that maybe I will be importing my mage across immediately when Awakenings becomes available on Steam...
