I was on the fence about Awakenings, I cancelled my order after reading some of the complaints here. Yeah, people maybe blowing things out of proportion but, every negative is usually rooted in some fact.

Yes, there are bugs in the game. Since I have installed the Awakening both DAO and Awakening have crashed to the desktop on several occasions. The day before yesterday I was playing DAO when it crashed to the desktop 6 times in a row before it would actually play. That's at the start of the game, right after clicking on "Resume." I am not a professional gamer, a developer or a computer technician. So, I am not sure if it is the game causing it or a video driver? As result I do an Ultra Defrag almost daily, clean out my cache and temporary files. I also run my PowerTools Lite program, to clean out the registry. None of it, however, seems to help. Still, it doesn't keep me from playing both games.

As for the game itself, I am enjoying the game-play. Could I critique it, certainly? There are things about the game that I wish were different: or, better. Was it worth the $39.99 that I paid for it, not really. However, I would pay a $100 for and RPG game if it was on the scale of DAO or better: Being of high quality with and excellent storyline and gameplay, without the DLC. I enjoy the romancing in DAO as well as the character sub plots. You don't get that in the Awakening -- not on the same scale as DAO.

My hope is that DAO2 will have all that DAO had and perhaps a little more.

Wow..you're really hopeless.
Whatever floats your boat my man!I have neither the time nor the inclination to further pointlessly argue with an ego-inflated megalomaniac anyway.
Stay on your high horse, just be careful not to hit any stray branches.

I think its funny when americans are trying to get the higher ground using the fact that some people of other nationalities who use english to communicate on message boards are not using it as well as a NATIVE speaker..really..

I'd love to see you use my language better than i use yours!C'mon!Show me!

Your native language isn't English?  Props to you!  Your English is excellent!

To Bioware - LOVE the game, glitches and all.  Nothing in this world is perfect including games.  I'm quite content with Origins and Awakenings.    Are there issues - yes.   Will I buy DAO2 -  ABSOLUTELY!

Hello all,

First post here.

I just finished DA:A and I am... dissapointed. This is not bug related (hardly had any; and when they became frequent a quick restart fixed the issue for a few )

Story: 6.5/10

It is interesting, but it is rushed and you know that from the start. Unlike origins you don't have the time to 'melt' into it. Towards the end of the game I had ceased to care about it...

Companions: 4.5/10

Didn't find any of them interesting and never cared about what happened to them. Anders has a certain charm (ser pounce-a-lot) and Nathaniel a certain 'aura of coolness', but like the story they never take off. Justice, the one I was actually looking forward to meeting, was a dissapointment. For a spirit he was too human like. I would have prefered if he was more obsolete, mystical or 'ethereal' and ever ready to discuss morals with you.

Rest of the NPC cast: 4.5/10. Overal boring. The Architect is the most interesting of the lot and he simply doesn't get enough screen time.

Roleplaying: 2/10

Bad, very bad. I strongly disliked that you couldn't talk and discuss with your companions whenever you wanted. The fact that you only had three choices most of the time didn't help either as did the fact that only one of them was 'good'.

Side Quests: 5.5/10. Your typical gather x and y or slay z types. I did enjoy upgrading the keep and would have liked to see more of them.

New Items, Abilities, crafting etc: 10/10. Spot on. These were great. In the end I found myself overwhelmed with all the options, but I'd rather it be this way then have too few.

New Creatures: 7/10. Interesting additions and the combat was handled nicely. I am no fan of hack and slash though.

Music: 3/10 The new tracks were no where near as good as the original ones.

Overall: ~5/10. I won't be replaying this, but I will be replaying DA:O. Please do not make these mistakes with DA2.

Cheers,

R.P.

Sounds like you would love this game called Dragon Age: Origins. It sounds like it has exactly what you are looking for.

Yes, how very silly it is for people to expect more of what they got and loved in the orignal in an expansion.  <_<

Hi. I am playing on the XBox360. Here is some feedback that you asked for after I played 33 hours as the Warden from Orlais. I thought the expansion overall was fair, not horrible and not great. It definitely had a different feel than Origins. I never really got into it until near the end of the game and then the ending seems kind of anti-climactic. I did have to start my game over because of problems with the Silverite mine (2 doors one locked, one unlocked) allowing me to enter before I was supposed to.

Things I liked Image IPB
length of the game
new skills and classes
new armor and weapons (would have loved to have a full set of blackblade armor)
some of the new characters
conversations that initiated by interacting with objects in the surroundings

Things I disliked Image IPB
runecrafting - I never made a single rune. It just seems so tedious and I didn't care for it.
the lack of being able to initiate dialogue with companions directly, as in Origins
the fact that armor/weapons did not carry over fromt the dlc (except for Return to Ostagar)
the fact that my Warden could not properly display the Sentinel armor (looked great on Oghren though)
the fact that my dog is gone missing with no explanation
things that disrupt the game, ie unkillable animated dead in battle to save Amaranthine, reload, rinse, repeat ..

Here are my thoughts on the characters, from most favorite to least Image IPB
Nathaniel - liked him/his story very much.
Anders - he was a useful mage to have in my party.
Justice - he was a useful warrior and alright character.
Sigrun - she was okay, didn't like or dislike her.
Velana - could quite definitely do without her.
Oghren - ditched him as soon as I could. He was my least favorite character in Origins.Image IPB

That was a really honest and (imo) a spot on review. For a first post, very well done. For me bugs were a lot more significant (various things) and I've never bothered to replay it since I finished - just not enough significant choices to warrant a full replay imo.

Overall: 4/10

It had its glitches but overal it was worth the money just to see your player grow even more powerful, to use new ablities, and to have new quests to do. i do think that they should have made the companions more in-depth

ok, being new in this Forum here my 2cents regarding the awakening add
on. Partially i already covered it when commenting on the Leliana DLC
lookout, but its surely better suited here as some DA:A devs asked for
feedback.

Being a huge fan of the Dragon Age Origins product i was somewhat  disappointed so far by the awakening expansion. Do not get me wrong,  there is nice fighting and nice exploration, but three main issues made  it somewhat bitter:
1.
the ties between origins and awakening were "lose" regarding previous decisions. all "personal" character
development from a greenhorn to what we made him was mostly lost, importing just some "hero" in awakening.
2.
previous romances (heyy.. especially Leliana) are lost in space (with the new patch at least there is some hint)
3.
the depth of conversations and interaction with the other characters was very  disappointing in awakening.

sorry, it  may be due to my 38 years i already gathered on my back, but while monotonic hack&slash Gauntlet  Style wasking of the hill on the C64 back in the 80ties its not Bioware Style. Awakening gains momentum to
the end, but falls short taking it in perspective to Origins and the character(s)development(s).

greetings,
