Two things that really made me happy so far was:
- The ghoul lady in the keep lower levels that gave me "oooo, creepy!" effect when she was screaming at me.
- The location to rescue a girl, the sight of the sea and crushed ship was very cool.
Due to the fact I was VERY tired when I played it, thus I would be very impressed in day to come.
Thank you very much for this expansion. Worth all the money.

There were a lot of hard decisions in the game that had me slamming my head to the desk for minutes trying to figure out what to do; props to you for that.
The new abilities (warrior) were epic. The spirit warrior specialization was especially a nice treat.
Really though, you guys did an incredible job. Now I just have to wait for more DLC or another expansion... I want more! xD
...or wait til 02.01.2011. I hope not tho. Thats a long time w/o darkspawn to kill!

First, let's hear from Fernando:
Today, we officially launch the Awakening expansion to Dragon Age. It is a culmination of a tremendous amount of work done by a relatively small, but talented, group of people.
Like many games, Awakening had its fair share of challenges along the way. Not the least of which was having to meet the expectations set forth by a massive title like Origins.
As developers, the team has much to be proud of – Awakening heralded several firsts for us at BioWare. Many of these are behind the scenes, like hitting our original date and on all platforms without compromising the quality. However, some will be more apparent to you the game player and I hope that you will agree that Awakening is indeed a worthy addition to the Dragon Age family.
Supporting and adding to one of our largest projects to date involved juggling an array of plates, including the initial Origins launch, DLC, patches, and updates. Amidst this, the team kept its focus and composure, always managing to bounce back and regain its stride once again. This is what I am most proud of them for.
Now, the true test: the team now anxiously awaits what you the fans will think of it. So I have a favor to ask -- should you get the chance to pull yourself away and visit the forums, send us some feedback. What did you enjoy? What would you like to see more?
If you have already purchased Awakening, you have my sincere thanks for the support, and I hope that you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it for you. I look forward to seeing you on the social site at social.bioware.com!

it would be better if we could freeroam in Amarthine after the Defeat of the Mother and i would also like if we could go to the Original Map of Fereldren meet Arl Eamon,King Alistair and Queen Anora and everyone else we met back then yknow. One more thing we could use the Extra Quests if thats possible.

Criticism on my part means only one thing: I like this game far too much to let some things pass without a though.
Mine are just questions for wich I'd really appreciate answers:
1. Why Oghren? I don't think it was because of feedback from fans...
2. Why Awakening is only a dlc in Europe? Not even here HD space is infinite...
3. Why do I have to pay 39.90 Euro for Awakening? It's far too much for a mere expansion.
4. New character are good and well, but how about the others? What has happened to the old ones who haven't been mentioned?
5. I know combat is an important part for rpgs, but if I wanted only that I'd play other games. Story is what matters the most for me, npcs characterization being major part of it. Those things said, I hope the no-romance choice is momentary, isn't it?
Simple questions, let's see if we can have simple answers as well...

"Where are the dialogs between characters?
Where are the emotions?
Where is romance?
Where are all my old companions?
Alistair and Wynne are only doing a small apparition...!!
You don't even hear of your other friends that stayed with you at the end of DAO
I'm disapointed cause of all this and i begin to regret my purchase..."
Sounds like you would love this game called Dragon Age: Origins. It sounds like it has exactly what you are looking for.
Me, I was more of a Morrigan/ Loghain kinda guy. I am glad I had the "Whiny On" Executed. I am happy to be back in the company of an Apostate. My only regret so far in Awakenings is that Ogrhen survived the Joining. ( I think its because he loves the Taint).
Stupid Darkspawn Taint.

DA:O was worth every penny and way beyond. DA:A, simply not. I am truly sorry. Please, next time, listen to us, not think of us.

I was even more thrilled when it was announced that you would be delivering a fully-fledged expansion for the game, just like those released for BG2, NWN/2, etc. Expansion packs are so rare these days, even on PC, and on consoles they are virtually unheard of, so I really do commend you for this decision, and hope that you consider releasing additional expansions in the future, not only for DAO, but also for ME2 and whatever else you guys have in the pipeline. The great thing for me about expansion packs is not only that they simply prolong your experience with a particular game, but that they give players who have worked hard to craft epic high-level characters an opportunity to unleash said characters on all new challenges, and continue their growth both in terms of combat ability, and their personal story/journeys.
What would I like to see more of from expansion packs like this? Just more. I really don't understand why some people are complaining about the length in Awakening unless they're rushing through it, because I've already sunk 10hrs into it, and scarcely completed any of the main questlines after the opening, but obviously the bigger and badder you can make these things, the happier those of us with a voracious appetite for more RPG goodness will be.
I really like the way that DAO:Awakening places the main character in the role of having to govern a keep and the surrounding lands, especially since the moral ambiguity and choices from a selection of lesser evils that permeated the original game are present here as well. Even more of this would be very welcome
One minor gripe, that I also had with the original game, is the limited number of recruitable characters. Maintaining an effective and balanced team is not always easy if one also tries to authentically roleplay as much as possible. Clashing with, and perhaps even killing, recruitable NPCs can leave you without a rogue/mage/warrior, or a herbalist/runecrafter/poison-maker, etc. I know that the all the dialogue and backstory, etc. that you like to imbue the characters with means that you have to put some sort of cap on the number, but I personally wouldn't mind if you made another expansion that followed more closely in the foot-steps of The Storm of Zehir (actually, I've noticed quite a few similarities between the two already
Anyway, just to reiterate: thanks again for all your work, and please do keep it up
EDIT: For those complaining about Awakneing not being a direct continuation and so on; have you ever played expansions/modules for this sort of game before? They are really direct continuations, even if they take place subsequent to the events of the original module. This is not a bad thing; they are not meant to pick up all the narrative threads that a sequel like ME2 does, they are meant to offer expanded/new content in a modular fashion (usually for high level characters). I fear that some of you have completely missed the point. See Mask of the Betrayer or Storm of Zehir for two excellent expansions that had few connections to events in the original NWN2 module.

I think this was a very risky release for BioWare/ EA. Origins was very accessible, and you can see it clearly in the forums. Aside from the fact that many here should just invest in a Dating Sim (that is your next DA DLC, right? I mean sheesh! That would be money machine...) I think their expectations are just crazy for Awakenings because they fell so hard for Origins.
For me, you improved the performance (PS3), gave me more things to kill, gave me lots of new stat-related things to play with, and in general gave my Warden a whole new world to just absolutely destroy/ save.
Which is to say, my only concern with the game mechanics is the level of difficulty. I struggled with Normal at times on Origins. I started Awakenings on Hard, and its just about the new Normal level of difficulty. Of course, my Warden is statted/ equipped to the nines, so maybe a little Nightmare is in order. Oh well, I always know I can play it though again. And again. And again.
Thanks for the Techical Improvements. Keep 'em coming, don't stop polishing, great game but still needs your continued support.

To mark the launch of Dragon Age: Awakening, Producer Fernando Melo and Ferret Baudoin have written letters to our players and fans.

And now from Ferret:
Launch day. In the life of a developer, it's like VE-Day and D-Day wrapped into one. After many months of hard work, something our team worked on passionately is out in the world. When Awakening started, our goal was to pick up where Origins left off. We were eager to pen a new chapter and dream up new people, environments, and threats to face. Many of us have only worked on other people’s intellectual property – a real joy you’re a fan boy or girl -- but Dragon Age was our own creation and the world could evolve and grow in any direction our imagination took us. It’s been an exciting and wonderful opportunity.
So as you open up your box (or watch the download reach 100%) know that our entire team put a lot of TLC into our game. And every step along the way the community was in our thoughts. Practically every discussion we had on various features or story moments, the fans would come in. Would the fans want X? Would the fans crave more Y? Many of us are hardcore BioWare fans ourselves, so discussions could get rather lively. If we dedicated games the way radio requests were done, it’d be to you guys – the fans who loved Origins and made it possible for us to continue exploring the Dragon Age world together.
So welcome back to Ferelden. The darkspawn have missed you.

I'm glad to hear so many of you are enjoying it.
Umm you are selective reading I guess.
You guys at Bioware should be ashamed. DAO was such a great game to tag this hack job with the Dragon Age title belittles the Original.
I personally was sadly disappointed and it will be a long time before I trust bioware enough to preorder any game from them.

for me what made Origins simply AMAZING was there was so much depth to it, especially the companion characters, and the dealing between hero and companion, and the way that effected how your party saw each other, and how much back story there was to every city, every person, every decision, it was such an engrossing game to play! and i will be playing it for years to come.
Awakening, it just does not compare=( alot of the elements that made Origins so amazing were simply absent here, being able to talk to your party members whenever, unlocking certain conversations, no(or limited?) romance options.i did not unlock any if there were.working on approval for not much reward=( the dungeons were short, intense, but short. as a whole, the game felt very rushed, and i was not disgusted with it, but i am dissapointed, i must say.Origins was so great, i recommended it to everyone i know who plays video games, and actually bought 3 copies to give to friends who i knew did not have the cash to spare in this crappy economy of ours. would i reccomend Awakenings? not so much, at this point in time. not many people have $40 to spare, and Origins was an exception, well worth it, but Awakenings was not=( it was not horrible, don't get me wrong, as i did enjoy parts of it for certain, and the new way of looking at the "evil" side of things, but it was not great either. i would have happily waited months, a year, for an expansion that was as well executed as the original. the storyline was so unique, and it felt liek so much more could have been done with it.
