After playing a while I will have problems with my graphics in the form of horizontal line wavy distortion that increases if I continue playing.  Upon exiting or ALT+TABing this distortion will slowly go away.  I've tried changing settings multiple times to no avail. 

The game didn't always act this way, it may have started doing this after installation of Pinnacle station.

Side note: Is it possible to uninstall just Pinnacle DLC?

System specs are a good thing to include when asking for tech help.

That said, I'm guessing you might be seeing "screen tearing," where the screen partially shows one frame on top and another on bottom - creating quite a mismatch when there's movement going on. Only thing is, you call the line "wavy" - but if you look closely, is the line of distortion itself pretty much straight across, or is it actually curving around?

Anyhow, the possible fix: Do you have Vertical Sync enabled in your graphics options? If not, you could try turning it on. (Be warned that it might lower your frame rate, however.)

Not sure what you mean by saying "effects" are "negated." You mean tearing is mostly solved, or mostly not solved?



Regarding refresh rate, the game caps it at around 60 FPS/Hz, so it can go that high as long as your hardware can output that much. The 9400 GT isn't a very powerful card though, so that's your rendering bottleneck. I doubt anything in software is stopping you from getting more frames.

I meant to say that the tearing is greatly reduced now thanks to vsync.



I went with the 9400 GT because I was stupid and bought a slimline computer, only to get it setup and realize my old video card would no longer fit. And the 9400 GT was the only card in stock at the local Best Buy (only option in my town, next closest store is 40 minutes away) that can convert to slimline.



I have one last question for you, if you don't mind. Is there much of a jump in system requirements to ME2? I am planning on getting ME2 soon and want to know if I should save for a new card.

I think there may have been a small jump in the official requirements for ME2, that I'm not sure about that.



For me, ME2 runs a lot better than ME1 (ME2 maxes out at 1600x900 no problem, ME1 gets lots of lag doing that). I've seen others commenting the same around these forums. That said, my personal experience may not be relevant because I'm in the opposite situation regarding Processing Units - I have a pretty good video card (Radeon HD 4770) but it's paired with a weak processor (Athlon x2 4050e).
