In both Mass Effect 1 and 2 the Paragon/Renegade options are clearly shown by location (Paragon on top-right while is on the Renegade on bottom-right.) This really makes conversation way less interactive as I know that when I start a conversation with a paragon character I'm going to choose the top right option. In both games this was apparent but it was especially apparent in ME1 (at least for me) which will completely end with the P/R percentage of your choice. Although I like how the questions that do not keep the conversation going are on the left I believe that the P and R options should be mixed up forcing you to choose the decision that seems more like the character you are trying to create. The outcome may be obvious in some cases but it would add way more interactivity instead of just mindlessly choosing the clear P or R option.
Also, regarding P or R conversation options. When I say this I mean options with a red or blue outline that can only be made when you have enough P or R. These completely ignore the neutral character and give you way less incentive to make something else than a pure P or R character because no option may be available in some cases. I believe that there should be a third (non-visible or visible bar?) that fills up for each P to R point you have (ex: you have 10 P and 10 R you have 20 Neutral, but if you have 10 P and 20 R you still have 20 N, understand?) This would at least help a semi-neutral character to use the option he would truly use. As for the outcome of a N option? Let's make a hypothetical example; let's say you want to save a person from walking into a trap to save one he loves, hypothetical P option is to appeal to him and prove to him nothing good can come out of this, hypothetical R option is to pistol whip him and knock him out, the N option would be to scare him away by explaining his death is imminent (I never did side quests so if this is one I apologize.)
A better conversation experience in ME3
