Its something to do with imported gear imo. It seems to work fine if you unequip all that and just have Awakening gear on.

Yes, that has been established on each of the other four pages.

I lost my gear, too. So? I'll replay. It's just a glitch, gear is just gear, and moreover, this is virtual gear.

That's wonderful.  Do, explain to me how this gets back the hours of time lost if I decide to restart due to losing this gear?  I could go on, but if your "oh, it's virtual gear" attitude meant that one could somehow replace it and move on, then I might share it.  But I spent real time getting this "virtual gear".  Please, do explain how you plan to replace such for me?  Unless you're just trolling for replies.  In which case, good job.  You got one.  :P

Anyway, I've continued on for a bit, but I am now seriously considering just restarting.  And they praying I don't hit ANOTHER bug that's almost game breaking.

One thing I've noticed is that if I import a character from the Original campaign with plain armour and other gear or just completely naked, when they come into Awakening they get all the Grey Warden gear that only my character can use. If I try to import a character wearing with special gear like the Blood Dragon armour, which I know shouldn't transfer over, or a few other pieces like the Helm of Honnleath then they come in naked. Remarkably similar to the mines problem....

I don't even get why some items transfer and others don't... is there a purpose behind this? DLC should work properly. And after restarting Awakening from scratch, i encountered the bug again. I had to be naked before the cutscene to prevent the bug from happening.

They have said time and time again, and it's been said in this thread, the DLC items are the issue. DLC content is not compatible, and should not have come over. If you're wearing rings from the dlc or the key to the city, it causes the mines issue. The nakedness at the import is caused by wearing DLC armor such as starfang, blood dragon, etc.

I also lost all my gear, but then again it's not just related to the Silverite Mine, because when the game actually started I already had lost some items from my imported character, I miss one weapon, the amulet and one ring, but maybe it was related to mods, I'm not sure. But anyway, yeah, all the gear I managed to get up to the Silverite Mine was entirely lost, I never found it again and I had to start all over again, I mean start Awakening all over again, then I went to my personal chest in Vigil's Keep, dropped in all my gear in, and THEN I went for the mission (after I had cleared all enemies in the forest of course), that way I made sure to not lose anything, and it worked.

I was wearing none of the dlc items and still I ended up losing all my characters items simply because they do not spawn in the chest at the end. I really don't feel like going back to a previous save when an issue like this should have come up in bug testing. I've see plenty of minor bugs in awakening through my play through so far, but this one is major. I'll wait for a fix which is wonderful figuring I paid 40 dollars so something that clearly wasn't bug tested well enough.

Such is life.

I think the bug  with the mines is much more complex than that.

I was wearing the Helm of Honnleath and the key to the city and I did not encounter the bug.   And others have reported that they weren't wearing any DLC equipment and they  still got the bug.

The platform doesn't seem to make a difference either... I've seen both PC users and Xbox users report  the bug.  And more... there  appears to be different variations to the bug as well.   Some people lost only their equipped stuff.   While some got their equipped stuff back but not their inventory items.  Some got neither back.  Some got just   portions of both back

One thing is for certain though:  There'd be no  missing equipment issue at the mines if Bioware had not decided to strip us of our equipment at the mines... which, again, is a really Dumb plot device.  They're just asking for trouble... and complaints.  And they know it.

Just to report -- 2nd playthrough I took everything off my main char. and put all my items into backpack inventory. That's right, I strode in to face the Architect's sleep gas in my skivvies.

I woke up in clothing rather than underwear (that was the 1st time outcome), and this time had nothing in my backpack (again diff. from the 1st time).

A "4th experimental subject" DID spawn this time (did NOT the 1st time), but, unsurprisingly, had nothing on him. I got to the chest near the merchant, there was everything from my backpack, including my main char's items, which he re-equipped. (1st time the chest was empty.)

This seems to work as a solution: unequip all your items on your main char. before going into the mines. You don't have to worry about your NPCs -- they will get all theirs back, always.

Incidentally, losing all your main char's gear isn't a game stopper, but for gear focused players, is also not a trivial issue, either.

BTW, this whole section of the game is interesting from a design point of view. For at least a good section of it, you have nothing but your fists to fight with. You will love having a mage at this point, especially a shapeshifter, which suddenly becomes quite valuable, ESP. BTW if you have Shapeshifter Plus (sorry, had to add that). Until your rogues & warriors get their own stuff back, they're basically having to make do with found darkspawn gear. It's about the only time I ever equipped darkspawn swords and armor. However, because they know you're gearless, or at least low-geared, for most of the mines, I happened to notice most of your opposition is fairly weak lvl 13 or 14 "white" darkspawn ....

I understand the point ... for once, they're forcing players to deal with situations when stripped of gear ... kind of like how some NWN games strip you at the beginning. (The stripping at the beginning, when it occurs, is unintentional.) It also happened when you were sent to jail in Fort Drakon but at least there they let you recover everything right at the beginning of the prison break.

What you quickly realize is the one class that really can function gearless is the mage; the others, not so much. Anyway, right at the beginning I was sure glad to let my shapeshifter mage maul the opposition as a bear, while the rogues & warriors were busy playing Muhammad Ali and punching away. And better yet since I had Shapeshifter Plus he wasn't being nerfed for being weaponless, yay.... sorry just had to add that.

Don't know if it helps but I had Key to the City on and ended up naked with the key to the city still equipped. Weird that that NON DLC item would cause the problem. I also had some Stone Prisoner stuff on but that was stripped.

^on a humorous sidenote, you'd be surprized at how effective a strength based warrior can be with his fists.

I critical'ed a hurlock for about 100 damage in that dungeon... with my FISTS.

I have an arcane warrior/ battle mage. Without that gear, which included no dlc gear, I die, its just that simple.

To clarify to the above couple posts, I stated, "If you're wearing rings from the dlc or the key to the city." I wasn't meaning to state the key to the city is DLC, hence the "or."

It seems to be a trend that the key, OR, DLC items cause the problem. There are some individuals that have issues with no mobs spawning for their other party members as well. That portion seems like a related bug dependent on the gear they have as well.

Well i can now confirm this bug/glitch whatever (on PC).
Everyone but my character got their gear back, the 4th whatever monster didnt "trigger" i gues.

1 DLC item, duncan's sword. Everything else was expansion gear.

Tried dropping my gear into the inventory as some have mention, but after the "sleep trap" scene i ended up with ZERO items including plot items, lol.

How very annoying. :pinched:

You're supposed to wake up with nothing. You're in prison. Stripping yourself is a way to fix getting your items back, not loosing them.

If you came out of the dream sequence with "clothing" on, you're fine.

I had Cailan's armor when I went in the first time, was naked when I awoke. Got naked the second time before I went in, works ok.

One thing that sort of bothers me, and I am not sure if it happens to anyone else;

when my companions get their gear back from the experiments, the alternate weapon set is gone. They only get back the items they were equipped with when they went to sleep. So, my Howe dude got his bow back, but not his blades in the alt spots.
