Picked up the expansion today, but put in the disk to load, and was promptly kicked out...stated that I would first have to install DAO in order to install the expansion pack.  Trouble is, DAO is installed.  Tried to uninstall it (and then install it fresh), but my computer can't find DAO to uninstall it either.  But I have no problem firing it up and playing it.  This has become old (and more than a little frustrating) as I have also had installation issues with DAO (originally) and ME2 (both collector's editions).  Need some help here...fast.

Having this issue trying to purchase the game on Steam. I have a retail version of Origins but getting this error message:

"Your transaction failed because you are trying to buy a game that requires ownership of another game you do not currently own. Please correct the error and try again."

You need to own Dragon Age: Origins on Steam to purchase the Expansion on Steam. I suggest you purchase the game on Stardock's Impulse like I did, or just go with the EA Store - though you might get install limits with EADM.

Well, I can't even install the expansion pack. And there is no error message indicated what problem it is. It just said that "The Installation of Dragon Age: Origin-Awakening has failed." I have installed the original game, updated the driver software and still can't install the expansion pack. Has anyone known what else can I do?

Strange....the Xbox versions have a similar problem. When you install Awakenings on the Xbox hard drive, it seems the titles overwrite since they are identical. The only way the hard drive can 'see' either game is to start the game from disc, then stop it and load from hard drive.

If you want to play the other game, you have to start the game from  the disc, stop it, then the hard drive will 'see' that game.

Both are named 'dragon age: origins' on my xbox hard drive. It's really a problem. I don't know if that solution will work on PC versions, its the only way to play from xbox hard drive.

My dad found the solution. Glad to have him as my dad =D

It's very easy: just open the DVD (explore it to see te files), search the setup program.

After that, select it with your mouse and click on the right mouse-button. Go to the compatibility tab and select the compatibility selectionbox (Windows XP service pack 3), after that, select the administrator selectionbox too. Now you are ready to start the setup program: double click on setup.exe and wait till the installation is finished. Ready to play your brains out !
