From what I've heard, the reason why WK and TSP items do not work is because of some sort of coding problem.  As for why the blood powers do not work, even though they were advertised, I'unno.

Some bugs I can understand.  Like the infamous NWN1 bug which would cause a crash to desktop if you were hit by an arrow while changing into a blood pirate outfit at the same time.

Others, like say, dexterity not actually working on daggers or the blood powers not working, I cannot.

I bet the console owners are pissed, too, since they hardly ever get patches.  They certainly don't get user-created content to 'fix' things.

Masticetobbacco wrote...

games eventually get patches, only IF no sequels or expansions are being planned, and if a game company only sees profit in making such patches. MMOs are always patches because they charge monthly. A single player RPG should receive VERY little patches

There is not a single game company in the world right now that actually gives a sh.it about their customers unless profit is being made.

just wait till DAO2, at least we can hope for some high quality stuff there

DA's DLC was said to be funding additional patches and expansions (which are planned for two years, which means the 2.01.11 thingy is probably an expansion).  NWN1 used premium modules, for example, to do patches.  Also, many MMOs do not charge monthly.

While your second statement is more or less true--some would argue that the company who made The Witcher, for example, still care about their customers, same with, say, Atlus, but that's a publisher--let us remember this: companies owned by EA tend to give less of a **** about their customers than others.

Alright ya'll. Time for me to go home. Think I'll play FFXIII tonight even thought I REALLY want to play DA:O. There's no way I'm going to download that new patch from Xbox live.

Feel free to flame away at me and I'll try to respond to the coherent criticisms tomorrow.

Sorry to disappoint you but FFXIII had more bugs in my playthrough than Awakening did.  FYI both games were played on the Xbox 360.

1. In Gran Pulse when the game loaded it teleported my Played character from the main field area to one of the areas that branch off from it.  When the area "loaded" it put me in the middle of the area surrounded by what I can best describe as rapidly moving rainbow squares.  This caused me to have to completely reload my save causing me to lose almost 3 hours of playtime.  This happened a total of 4 times.  This one time was the only time I lost substantial playtime though.

2. After fighting the Cieth Soldiers towards the end of the game they used Death on my main character, one-shotting me.  I reload my save only to have everytime after that when they cast that spell the Cieth Soldiers not only kill me, but all my party members as well, everytime.

These were the bugs I experienced in my playthrough.  I returned that piece of garbage so fast it made my head spin.  So, unfortunately, I just debunked your Square Enix does no wrong theory.  Sorry to burst your bubble but if you find a game nowadays that doesn't have bugs in it, let me know.  I'll go find it and hug each of the developers.

I still think Bioware makes the best games :) The price is my only complaint, thanks for gouging a loyal customer :S

Also, this is after I lost my incredibly powerful gear during the silverite mines bug. I paid 177 gold for a super sexy dagger only to have it taken away from me... The pain!

dude they are EA's bit.ch now. I expect 3-4 more expansions on Dragon age with before they release a sequel which that will have 7-8 expansions. Each expansion priced at 39.99, and is filled with recycled material and patches that should have been implemented from release

Exactly.  What the gamers seem to overlook is voice acting.  On you tube they interviewed the writer for Dragon Age Origins and he said the voice acting dialog was over 800,000 pages!!!  It's near impossible to expect the same variances of dialog from say a Morrigan from one expansion to the next...why?  Because Claudia Black has other jobs as an actress as well that she is committed too.

If this game was nothing but vanilla read text dialog it would make it much easier for Bioware to continue the same npcs from one expansion to the next.  It's one of the downsides to have full on voiceacting in computer games.

But how hard would it have been to have a text prologue that told you where/what your love interest or dog or traveling companion was doing will you were on your new adventure. It would have cost very little to do actually and required NO voice acting.

Nice way to pre-insult people.  The cliche troll technique.

Guess what, this isn't World of Warcraft, we don't need "goodbye" posts.  If you don't like the game, no one cares

This one I dont understand.

Bioware is mostly known for its ability to create solid stories and good dialogues+great characters. They know how to create a great rpg at the core,no question.

They arent known for superb level of polish (like Blizzard or Square-Enix) or fantastic technical skills (Like Naughty dog or Crytek).

I had my doubt about Dragon age being made by the B team and all these technical problems or bugs seem to confirm it.

I think most people here should be realistic toward Bioware. They are one of the top developer in this business, but keep in mind their geographic location and their history. Its impossible to find as much talent in Canada as in the US and its harder to lure american or international talent to work in Edmonton (not even NHL players want to stay in Edmonton and they are offered million of $),they are at a point where they are catching up to AAA standard of production value, polish and solid gameplay and thats with the help of EA/EA Montreal.

ROFL now people have stooped to bashing Bioware as not having talent? Haters will stoop to any low it seems.

Here is a hit haters, if you think they have no talent or are lazy or stupid, why dont you go make your own RPG and try and sell it?

The reason, because the haters are the stupid untalented ones.

You're theory there is a bit flawed considering Bioware is one of the 5 largest developers in the world I believe, if not top 5 then top 10.

Not in term of quantity anyway, but quality.

Bioware is becoming quite big indeed, but the problem is finding that special someone who can significantly impact a game.Ubisoft is bigger than Bioware, but the quality of their game is all over the place so it kind of prove my theory is mostly right. =] I could also use Square-Enix as an example, whos nowhere near to being as good as they were 10 years ago. They lost a lot of talent over the years and it show nowadays, especially since its not easy ro replace a music composer like Uematsu whos one of the best ever.Uematsu gave them an edge as far as OST goes that they do not have anymore and the FF XIII OST is very forgettable imo (FF XII OST was rather bland itself and FF X-2 was just...).Look at James Cameron Terminator 1 & 2 versus Moscow silly and goofy Terminator 3 and this newest trilogy with McG.

I can only go off my past experiences with Square which so far have been near perfect. If I encounter the types of things you describe in my playthrough I too will have lost a good deal of respect for them. Fair is fair.

Have you had any successful saves using the Orlesian Warden?

Huh? I've been re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-playing FF7 and there have been no bugs during the first 12 hours. I somehow doubt i'll be playing Dragon Age 13 years from now ;)

There's a bug in FFVII? I've played that game through at least 6 times and never had a single problem.

I've encountered a couple funny bugs. A helm in a rune slot, and my character was stuck in some humping motion during a bunch of cut screens. I was laughing out loud at that one.. Nothing game breaking yet. I much rather have the product sooner with some easy to live with bugs, that are also amusing than have to wait longer. I've only played a couple hours, love it so far.

I can think of no games that are released without bugs. If that is a requirement for you to enjoy yourself. I recommend a new hobby. OP didn't give details as to what sorts of bugs, at least in his first post. If in anyway they are serious bugs that's more understandable to gripe about.

40 bucks for an expansion is steep. That is, unless it's a huge expansion. I do not know how many hours of gameplay this thing has yet. I think the add ons were overpriced. They needed more content imo. But, better than nothing if you're a huge fan of the game like me.

The thing about video games is, ideally you WAIT to buy them. It's cheaper and more bugs are fixed. Either by fans or the devs. Something to keep in mind in the future if this sort of thing really irritates you. This is the first game I've bought in a very long time on release date btw. I knew ahead of time there would be bugs. It's inevitable.

My comments are about PC games. I don't play console games.

I can. Square Enix games - bug free. Enough said.

Still waiting for a rebuttal from the naysayers about FFXII up top.

Found a bug in FFXIII.
When Fang changes weapon, that weapon is only shown  in combat.
When runnnig around, she always carrying the same weapon.
So not bug free only from Square Enix.
