Also from what I have heard the smithing specials are nigh close to impossible to do, things like the Dragons Egg and Master Lyrium Potion are impossible to find.
I hope they will give a free DLC pack to open more up for free. Cause as said I think it was a bit of a bad idea to ask for the price they asked for.

It sounds to me like the Bioware writers want to tell the story they want to write, and are becoming less inclined to leave "their" story up to the player.

Everything I have read makes me want to "wait and see" on this expansion. This really sounds like what I thought Warden's Keep would be when I bought it -- and I was really disappointed in WK and thought it was pretty weak (except for the container and new gear). Really, why would Oghren's feelings for the Warden be reset to neutral? Why say someone is a companion, only to kill them off after 20 minutes?
It sounds to me like the Bioware writers want to tell the story they want to write, and are becoming less inclined to leave "their" story up to the player.
Yeah its the story they want to write, and what underlines that part is the fact..that it was mostly done and over before they even announced Awakening, so I doubt very much if our feedback will really be taken into consideration....things we'd like to see or hoped to see...
So it is what it is I guess.
I've decided to lower my expectations...nothing will ever compare to Origins..from here on in..I am thinking.

This is the vibe I'm getting as well. In the new conversation thread, Mr. Gaider is posting his thoughts on this and that is certainly the way it sounds.

You start with a preset list of items, 5x Health Poultrices, 15x Light, 3x Lyrium pots, some preset armor which is alright (played as a mage and got some alright mana regen items at start). Allistair was king in my game, but its so weird as he is so formal, and I am used to us being buds ;p

The solution isn't to lower your expectations, it's to kick bioware in the ass and let them know you want and deserve more bang for your buck.
Just saying 'oh well, I guess that's how it is.' is how we end up paying game companies through the nose to play games we don't even think are that great.
The high quality of origins isn't a one hit wonder sort of thing. I can be replicated, if someone cared to put the effort into doing so. Clearly they didn't here.

Yeah thats what I couldn't put my finger on..although he does call me "love" a couple times....Oh I stated in another thread that I hadn't encountered any bugs, but come to think of it ..yes there is one.
The blood abilities from WK that were supposed to transfer over...I can see them in my skill lineup on the skill page..but it basically lists them as unknown or something. They are not useable.
There's something different about the voices too...I can't put my finger on it, but every time one of the "familiar" npc companions talk...it hits me again. Oghren is a bit different..taller, more gruff sounding...more drunk, and skinnier hehe.

THAT may all tie into what is being allowed by EA for budget. And if thats the case, there's not alot Bioware can do about that.
As for "kicking" Bioware in the "ass".....if you bring something up that they don't wish to address..they will ignore you...completely. Been there done that...19 days of silence on the Ultimate Sacrifice issue.
So yeah..its not like I just give up easily, I just know when and where I have some room to move.

Yeah, Allistar felt pretty strange as a a new player. Importing my old toon made everything seem pretty easy so far.

I'm glad they put less focus on the romances, retardedly long dialogue options etc. and more on the gameplay, abilities, puzzles and action. They literally bombard you with fun quests to do and the new characters are lots of fun.
They certainly rushed it, leaving out components that were integral to DA:O, but the parts they skipped were a lot of what made certain parts of DA:O boring as sin, I think.

For $40, I expect a playthrough to rival the original game, both in length and quality.

Expectations were obviously set too high. This game out a scant 5 months after the release of the base game. When was the last time you heard of an expansion being released that quickly?
They had started working on it before Origins launched.

I found the dragon egg no problem, after you get captured by the architect (in winding woods)and are running through the tunnels in the mine(trying to get your equipment back), you find a grey warden who was captured and wants you to kill a large darkspawn that crushed his legs (named something dragon tamer), the egg is in that room behind a fence.
as for the master lyirum potion i am having a hard time with that one i Got the dragon bone sword built there is 5 diff version of it for long sword, and two handed aswell.
you have need to find the dragon bone, the dragon egg, you can buy the greater warmth balm, and you need to craft the grandmaster flame rune.

The DAO team needs to take the hint. I suspect that the ME series was written pretty much completely by Drew Karpyshyn (he wrote the story and the three ME novels) ahead of time and the plot and interwoven story lines planned out ahead of time and not 'hacked' together, as I am supecting DAO:A is.
As we move more away from 'games' and toward 'Interactive Entertainment', we should see better. My hats off to the BioWare Mass Effect Team!

How is Awakening not worth $40 with my first play through I clocked 11 hours without doing all the merchant and chanters board side quests although I will admit not being able to have deep branching dialogue with the new party members is a big bummer.
Because you got more hours for $40 worth of DA:O!
Nevermind that 11 hours for $40 is still better than 99% of single-player-only video games out there!!!11

Don't get me wrong BIOWARE you created an excellent game in "Origins". But Awakening left me feeling"Empty". No hero's goodbye, No Romance \\ Friendships. Heck I was married to Queen Anora and after her "Beginning Scene" she did not even show at the end. Maybe the game was rushed out the door to quickly.

Most of the complaints that I've seen is that it isn't a direct continuation of the Origins campaign. It was only very early on that they hinted at this... and then they said it is tied in, but not that badly. There *are* references to Origins, but this is a story in itself. It's moving the setting forward... not just you... and it shows.
People expected more than what the devs have stated are going to be disappointed.
