Finished Awakenings on PC last night. Here are my thoughts:
*I quite enjoyed the story and characters, although it was a little shorter than I thought it would be. Most battles were rather monotonous throughout the game, even on nightmare difficulty, so I might try some kind of difficulty increasing patch next time through. Though don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed most boss battles.
Enough people have complained about the absence of romantic continuity, so none of that. It just would have been awesome is all.
*Bugs: From the sound of it I lucked out, no game-halting bugs or anything. Here's what I did notice...
Graphical:
- At the end of numerous battles, Anders was surrounded by a persistent blue cloud, although I'm not sure what spell it is from. Reloading won't make the cloud go away, only killing Anders or swapping him in and out on the party selection screen does.
- The Architect's face clips through his mask while talking. I play on the lowest graphic's setting, highest texture setting, with special effects turned off.
Gameplay:
- About five or six crashes to desktop, usually while swapping characters in the party selection screen or transitioning to another area. Good thing I already quicksave compulsively.
- Lilith the merchant would reappear after talking to her each time. Thus, I couldn't buy the Grandmaster lightning rune etching and have Wade make the super-duper bow for my main character, who's a rogue archer. On a side note, I *hated* the redundant, tedious rune-crafting system.
- After choosing not to go back to Vigil's Keep during the final battles, the codex updated saying that the companions I left there had died, while the epilogue said the exact opposite. I fully upgraded the Keep walls. Was this on purpose?
OK, think that's all! Good fun, overall.
