Hey all,
I am going to start my first FemShep in ME1 to carry over to ME2. (I started an ME2 femshep and really like it, but I want to have a ME1 save file so I can have decisions carry over.) I generally like to "roleplay" my characters and I'm a tad conflicted with this since it is different than what I normally do, so I have a question at the end of this post.
Anywho, this is her background: Colonist, Sole Survivor
I almost always play as a Paragon, so I want to mix up a little renegade. I don't like how renegades are a dick to everyone, so I am trying for a "paragade" playthrough.
My Shepard will obviously have a traumatic past: her family was killed on Mindoir and then her entire unit was massacred on Akuze. This has fueled a deep suspicion of aliens (especially batarians). She is not very welcoming to other aliens, and although she doesn't hate them, she blames them for what happened to her and keeps them at arms length. (Very similar to Ashley's view of aliens: they are fine if they help but never let them get too close.)
Shepard wants to put humanity and the Alliance first, (and generally does) but she also realizes that galactic events are bigger than humanity, and we are one of many races trying to coexist. She wants humans to prosper and be powerful but she knows that humans cannot stand alone, and we need to get help from the other races and vice versa.
By the end of ME1, she will regard the non-human crew members as "the only aliens I know I can trust". Garrus, Tali and Liara especially will have prooven to her that she can trust them with her life. Even though she wont fully trust aliens, she will trust them.
So that is the way I am going to role play Shepard. Now, I am conflicted on three areas:
1. Rachni: They are creepy, powerful buggers who can do a lot of damage in large numbers. She knows about the Rachni wars and doesn't want anything like that to happen again. Her first instict is to kill the queen to make sure there are no loose ends, but she does feel some pity for the queen, especially after she promises peace. She doesn't want to commit genocide, but neither does she want the Rachni to become a threat again. What should she do?
2. Wrex. Does she go through the trouble to do his side quest so she can order him to stand down? Does she take the time and effort to know and calm the Krogan, or does she give Chief Williams the signal to neutralize him?
3. The Council. She wants to focus on humanity, so holding back the fleet so they can concentrate on Sovereign is the best tactical option. However, the Council is important and she understands that humanity is only one of many races. (Plus, the lack of a council in ME2 is kinda crappy. Even "finger quotes" turian is better than nothing.)

1. The Rachni were a threat to the Council in the past. What they did would have no interest to a Shepard who is solely concerned with getting present problems handled. I'd say if your Shepard doesn't want to commit genocide, let the Rachni Queen go. It's an Asari/Salarian problem to deal with.
2. How intimidating/charismatic is your Shepard? If the answer is "very," then Wrex can be talked down without earning his admiration earlier. I believe I had a playthrough where my Shepard happened upon Wrex's armour by accident as well.
3. Even my amazingly Paragon Shepard let the Council die because the threat of Sovereign is immediate. Some people play their Shepard with an eye to the future, realizing the importance of the Destiny Ascension or the lives aboard. I never could realistically roleplay it that way because it was an all or nothing battle in my mind.
You have Bringing Down the Sky? Nothing was better at paragading my Shepard than the choices made during that particular mission.

Yeah, Fem.Shepard as a paragon is so much better than the dude, plus it's so much better than having a paragon male lol.

@MikeFL25 looks like you in the same boat I am having to start a ME1 female for import on Paragon.
Still thinking about going back and completing the game on Insanity mode as I just completed it on Hardcore to see that it was like (which was a joke compared to the ME2 hardcore.) Yea more EXP per quest and kill
