I love the DA games.

but have to agree with some of this.. EA's influence on bioware shines thru.. no corrections for previous glitches? i paid for DLC's and now none of those? No new face generation or deep character development?

I'm really worried that DA 2 will end up like Mass effect 2. dumbed down and lame.

If you treat Awakening like a common DLC it's quite alright, although I don't see the reason for such a steep price considering all the flaws it has.

People need to understand that this is and expansion that... well... expands on the core mechanics already within the game. You are not going to get that new game feeling when you play it that is for sure.

nornally i would post (or attempt to post) a logical arguement/tangent, but since I am frankly enjoying the expanion, and feel lazy I will instead post this

No this is right on, this is as far as YOUR logic goes. Maybe in the future we will use pictures to communicate. You know to CUT time and logic.

The point is if you start fresh this a great game, but if you expect something deep and related to the first game you are wrong.

Keep telling your self its a great game and maybe it should be played in some special way and looked at as expension or big dlc. But the fact is you jsut telling your self it is what it is not. And it is not an Expansion.

It is an good attempt at hit and run and they pulled it off. Did I enjoy it, YES did I hate the fact they cut stuff out YES. Would I pay 40 $ if I knew it is what it is. NO

I simply listed the things that made this game bad. To be honest the only things that make it good are well new origin story that is all. If you playing fresh you can look past and ignore everything you did in the original game. What happend here is.

This is just one of the origins that was supose to be used for  the expansion if you character died. If your character died in the original game this is the origin you get in the expansion.

Sometimes I wonder, what problems does this world have? A NPC in a video game that wears the same clothes over a time?

I agree, that Awakening has some flaws in the storytelling. But making an elephant out of every flea (or bug) is not helping anything.

yeah sure, we should ignore them and pretend everything is hunky dorey, if people can't take critizism or feedback, how the heck will anyone improve. Assassin Creed listen to the faults and critizisms of their last game and gave us Assassin Creeed II, which I may add is amazing, even though this game is'nt bioware, that point the studio listen to the fans and made something great, sure it took alot of blood and sweat, but thats part of the job of the developers, listening to the fans to help push that envelope even further. AC2 isn't a perfect, but its dam good, and I think it wouldn't be what it is, if the studio didn't take to heart, what it's consumers said.  Feedback are Opportunities to make improvements. I think it be unwise to ignore these chances.

I guess since DAO gave you alot of choices to choose from, people were expecting the same thing in this expansion. People exicted to see what their choices they made, to see it evole in this expansion. I guess that didn't happen. Frm what the forums said, still I'll get this expansion anyway, since I'm a fan of bioware, I just wont get it right away XD, I'm getting me ME2 instead lol, then maybe get it when its drops I guess.

lol still I don't care about the DLCs since I got PC, lol, though i wish they thought about the console player, in a way these folks wasted they're money on something they can't use lol. It ironic to think that a modder did something the developers could not (or I guess refused to do), reasons why PC kick $## ha ah:lol:

Seriously? Maybe you should employ yourself with one of these companies before blurting out such a bull**** Topic.
And it's a bloody expansion not a whole new game. I quite enjoyed it myself. new spells and abilities are nice.
Story was nice, I do agree on the party interactive thing though.

other then that, try making an informative post that helps the company and readers instead of having it
full of rage whining.

good day to you.

Are you new to forums or something? The complaints, whines, flames and trolls all come out in droves after the release of a game or expansion. They far out number the threads that offer kudos because the majority of folks playing and enjoying the game are not motivated enough to post it.

It was the same for DA:O.

No, actually, it wasn't nearly this negative.

Ah, so you are the new arbiter of what is and isnt and expansion as well as informing people if they are enjoying Awakenings or not.

Get over yourself.

It most certainly was. There were a ton of complaint threads for the first month.

Lack of argument, and lots of rage whining from you.  Nor is it anyone's responsibility to help the company.  Since some people have decided not to buy Awakenings due to reading this post, it's helped some readers.

I'm not a chef, but when I get a badly cooked meal at a restaurant, I can tell.

Lots of rage-whining from the fanbois that some people are criticizing the expansion.  I like Bioware games (bought almost every one) but that doesn't make me blind to their flaws.

Well you assume I am full of rage? Nop I am quite happy today, great sunny day and very warm.

If simple things you listed make you happy so be it. That is the extent of your happines. Other people expect something more. Or at lest to continue from where we left off? or stay in teh same ball park? I can go on.

So jsut cause its expansion its ok to make it half baked? Well tell you what, next time you go out for dinner and get a dessert they can bring you cake half baked. After all its the same dinner (expansion) not a brand new dinner.

I really don't care wether someone likes something or not, but for christs sake people, think for yourselves. Don't hate it because this person hates it. Unless you were never looking to give it a chance in the first place, then your mind was already made up.

I guess to clear this up a bit. I really enjoyed DA:O and have all but the last DLC. And I replayed it with 3 origins.

Expansion or not the Awakening did not deliver. (My opinion) Not even gona bother

I would also like to add that people who are dis-satisfied make more noise than those who are satisfied.

Obviously a troll, the first point is completely wrong, Anora arrives the same way Alistair does, with a legion of troops and a templar commander.

If you mistook Mhairi for Anora, lmao, you need to just stop playing games and check into the mental ward of your nearest hospital.

This bodes bad. I was so looking forward to the awakenings, but what I have heard so far makes it sound like a trashy add-on purely released to make a quick and easy profit.
I really hope that this is not the case, I will be finding out for myself very soon (fingers crossed)

Me too. I will buy it tomorrow but I won't be expecting anything from it. Even if the plot is great, the fact that they got rid of all these things fans loved altogether is saddening. They didn't need to rush it, but they did. BW is my favourite game company, so it hurts a lot to see this.

edit: Just to make a note, when DA was released, people nitpicked and whined. This isn't whining, this is fans actually being upset.

A lot of my friends on this site are huge supporters of BW and never complain about anything in the game.
They do now.

Okay lets put the silly labels and name calling aside..shall we?  I think we are all more intelligent than that.

First thing I'd like to mention is,  when you feel there is something wrong with a game, you are only helping yourself and anyone else who encounters the same problem, by explaining what that problem is ..clearly.

Explaining it clearly..stating where you saw it or encountered it..what happened, goes a long way to alerting those who fix these things..what the problem is.  And allowing it to be slated for bug fixing or whatever it happens to need.

If you refuse to do that..but yet continue to complain about "vague" things instead of stating what it is..you're not going to be taken seriously, and the problem will never be fixed.

So by helping the company..you also help yourself..in the long run.

First things first. I enjoyed Awakening so far. Anders and Justice are badass. Nate is pretty cool fella too. Wouldn't mind seeing them in a sequel (along with some of the original companions).

But here's what killed me. NO BLOODY MENTION OF LELIANA OR ZEV?! ESPECIALLY IF ROMANCED!?!?! Hell, even little things such as letters or maybe a pendant given to you as a gift from them. ANYTHING! *Continues to rage*

Now excuse me while I go and listen to some sad romantic music...

Out of curiosity, for all those peeps who whine about the quality of Awakening, compared to other games EXPANSION packs (caps were intended) how would you rate it ? I mean yea the game might feel rushed and yada yada but still when i think back about other games expansion packs (BG2, Icewind dale, fallout 3, oblivion etc) i dont think it's THAT bad like people make it out to be.

After release, the majority of threads on DA:O and ME 2 boards were positive. Some of them were rave reviews and a few called Dragon Age the best western RPG ever.

Now, previous to release, the forums were a muck hole of epic proportions, especially the after switched from the old BioBoards to BSN.

I have to agree..I signed up on the 19th of October..witnessed the raging after release and..left the forums probably for a good two months.

See I look at this way, if I listen to all these negative nellies..it colours and ruins my own view of the game.   So just like avoiding spoilers..most times I avoid those that like to push their negativity on everyone else.
