I don't know much about software programming, but to me this seems like something that could be done by a single person in one day of work.
I do, and it depends. But even if one person *could* fix it in one day of work, it's not as easy as that. Depending on their process, the whole thing may need to be regression tested before it can be cleared for release, and if that's the case, they'll want to schedule it for release as part of a larger package of bug fixes so they only have to do the regression test once. And if that's the case, the amount of time it takes to fix it is dependent on how long it takes to do all of the other fixes as well, and it may not be the bottleneck.
EDIT: Nevertheless, I'm with everyone else in being frustrated about this. Perhaps someone has miscalculated how important the fans find this bug. I personally quit playing Awakening and I check back once every month or so only to see that it still hasn't been fixed.

Seeing how they never even bothered to fix blatant bugs from the basic game I doubt we will ever see a patch for Awakening. There was a time when Bioware was great at communicating with their fanbase and at supporting their games; sadly, it's ancient history now.
Quote from Victor Wachter:
"We're working on putting some Awakening in the patch. Keep watching for more updates."

However, if I were to fix this glitch, if you uninstall the DLC AFTER transferring over a character, can you still play your Awakenings character or will it not allow you to play it without the DLC because of the blood talents? Also, if you uninstall the DLC after transfer, do you just lose your blood talents entirely?
Granted, I play a dagger rogue and while the extra speed and dodge is nice, it's not a deal breaker, but neither is the armor looking weird.

Unfortunately, we are unable to fix the issues concerning these armor sets and the Vigilance Sword. Due to various limitations surrounding what we can and cannot patch concerning DLC content, very strict limits in the size of
console title updates, and the state of some of the assets we attempted to implement, we regret to inform you that these items will not be fixed at this time.
There is a workaround for the appearance of the Sentinel Armor and the Vigilance Sword on consoles, and that is to not have the Soldier’s Peak/Grey Warden Base DLC installed. We realize this is not by any means an ideal solution, but regrettably we will be unable to fix this properly and for that we apologize.

I just hope they can add this later, in a patch-DLC or something. (It's not far off either)
Also, they never said they never going to fix this, so i'm not giving up.

I think the only way they could fix this given the size limitations for patches, would be to release the fix as a free dlc. I wouldn't hold my breath though, took almost 10 months for a real patch and with DA2 coming out I have my doubts about seeing any more patches unless a new dlc they release is buggy as hell, like RtO was.
Bioware is not working on the patches at all, its a subteam. You dont have your best programmers do patches, they do your next game. www.edgeofreality.com/ is the company that actualy does the console versions of Dragonage, not bioware. The other problem is the size limitation of patches directly scales with how much they have to pay microsoft and sony to host the patches on their service. Its extremly expensive for them to put up.

I really don't care who makes the patches and I can't believe it costs a ton of cash to have a patch released as free DLC. I mean if BlazBlue Continuum Shift can get V 1.01 update released as free DLC there is no reason why a game as big as Dragon Age can't have the same type of update.
Tell that to EA, not Bioware.
EA and Edge of Reality are the ones running the show. Bioware is busy with Dragon Age 2 and Star Wars.

Quick question is the Vigilance sword suppose to use the starfang skin or is that a bug too?
Well 5 months later and its still bugged
Its annoying since the unbugged sword looks Badass.
