Hello

I am trying to play the expansion pack on PC but when I open DA:O, the "Other Campaigns" option is greyed out (I can't click on it). I am using steam and have both of them installed, what can i do to play the expansion pack?

It should be noted that I installed both DA:O and the expansion pack on my new laptop, and I played the original game with my desktop and beat the game there. So my laptop that I am trying to run it on has not beaten the game yet. Do I have to beat the orignial game on my laptop in order to play the expansion pack? If so, that sucks, I uninstalled it from my PC after I beat the game because I needed the room on my hard drive :(

Thank you for any help

Good grief.

It's not a bug. The "Other Campaigns" option is for fan-produced/3rd party content using the toolset, which you can download from this site.

Because you have not downloaded any you cannot click on the button...

ok I am probably really retarded for asking this but then how do I play? I looked at the post on the general discussion for the game and it said :

"To play Dragon Age: Origins Awakening on the PC, you will need to launch the Dragon Age: Origins base game and select the Other Campaigns option."

which is obviously not working for me. I tried just opening the expansion pack from steam and it just opens up the original game.

The expansion also runs under the "Other Campaigns" section.  I don't know what the problem is for the OP, though.  It should still be available before you beat the original game.

Try clicking "New Game" and see if you are given the option of making a new Awakenings game, or if it just goes into the "New Game" for Origins.

It appears that Steam users may choose "Other Campaigns" and Retail PC users choose "New Game" (but couldn't say for certain).

If neither works, perhaps try a reinstall of Awakenings and see if it gives you an error message of "failed to install" on the last screen, and if so, check some of the threads here for fixes to that.

I have the same issue. I purchased mine from Impulse. Awakening installed fine (i.e. no errors) but "New Game" doesn't offer an Awakening option and "Other Campaigns" is still greyed out. I tried reinstalling. One can use EA Download Manager using the game key provided by Impulse to download a copy of the game directly (and bypass Impulse). The problem is that DM acknowledges that Awakenings is already installed and doesn't offer a redownload. I didn't find any way to specifically uninstall Awakening. One (painful) option would potentially be to uninstall both Origins and Awakening, and then download the Awakening install file directly using the DM, and reinstall everything from the DM install file instead of going through Impulse.

I'm having this issue also. I purchased mine through Steam, and "Other Campaigns" is greyed out no matter what I do. I've tried reinstalling, that doesn't seem to work.

Same problem on steam, multiple restarts, re-installs of both awakenings and original DA:O, file verification, DAO_UpdateAddinsXml_Steam, nothing working for me yet.

This problem is also affecting me. I have reinstalled both DA:O and Awakenings, I have registered my game with both EA and on this site, I have checked the file integrity on both games, and still nothing. I have noticed that when I try to start Awakenings via the Desktop Icon, it stops trying to launch it and instead launches Dragon Age: Origins. Is this supposed to happen?

I FIGURED OUT HOW TO FIX IT!!!!

in the my games tab for steam, right click the installed DA:O-awakening, click properties, go to the local files tab, and then click "verify integrity of game cache..."

it'll download some files and then you are good to go! the "other campaigns" option is no longer grayed out :) :) :) :)

In my case the Other Campaigns option is NOT grayed out... BUT, after I click on it there's no pictures or descriptions, and I can then click "Play", if I click on "Play" nothing happens, I get a clicking sound and nothing happens. My version of Awakening is a download from EA Download Manager, not Steam, base Origins works very well, it's only Awakening so far, I've yet to figure out what to do.

Other campaigns is still greyed out. Also downloaded from EA manager. Any suggestions to activate Awakenings for my download method?

Others have had reports of turning uac off in vista and 7 .  To do this click start button select control panel select user accounts and it should be there in vista anyway.

If other campaign button is not greyed out then either click new game and select origins or awakening and then choose new character or import a character

or click other campaign select awakening by clicking on it to highlight it and then click play

I'm using Steam and in my case I had to start my game with Dragon Age : Awakening once otherwise the Other Campaign was grey. I didn't notice a second listing of Dragon Age in my Steam list because I bought it after sorting my categories.
