Lover of the King (Awakening Spoilers!)

I agree, no one ever referred to me as the Queen, and I thought that was weird. Okay, I was willing to over look that. I'm just arguing that if BW wanted to put him in the game at all, it should have just been more meaningful. Even bumping into Wynne seemed pointless.

I'll admit that I thought the interaction between Alistair and his lover/wife was appropriate. He's the king, and you're the Commander of the Grey Wardens. It would be inappropriate for them to be all over each other, there is a level of decorum necessary for the King and Queen/Commander. But why does he even show up at all and then leaves like 10 minutes later? Couldn't all that just be accomplished in a letter?
I wondered that, too. I guess they figured there had to be some tie-in back to Origins?
What I really want to know is why he showed up, like, two hours after the PC? Since I've only played a HN so far, I'm telling myself that they travelled together until about an hour out, and he made her go ahead so that his arrival wouldn't undermine her own. Either that or he was just hiding behind a tree until I finished up with the darkspawn. Wouldn't want to get any blood on his shiny new armor.

Which guy's point of view? I found Alister cowardly and shunning responsibilities in DAO. Not much of a hero in him, but I guess some girls do like guys like him.
Fangirlism aside, I obviously disagree strenuously with you. Amazes me that people actually seem to prefer that the male lead in DA:O should have been a plastic Hollywood muscle-bound hero or a humdrum paladin. Just pencil in your stereotype and leave the actual characters to the rest of us to enjoy, eh?

Yea, I kind of figured that the whole "talking to Alistair" would happen at the very beginning of the game, as like, "You need to go to Amaranthine now." Considering I'm his mistress and Chancellor, I was with him in Denerim, wouldn't he have just said bye to me there? Or arrived with me instead of 2 hours late? He must have just been coming from somewhere else...or maybe I came to Amaranthine directly from visiting my clan or something. But yea...its not like Amaranthine is on the way from Denerim to the Bannorn...more the complete opposite direction. So he should have stayed longer...

I actually want to smack some tough guy into him but what can you do? ~Shrug~
From some videos I've seen, if you get him to -100 approval you get to see his tough guy side o.O just look up "angry alistair" on youtube...

YES! Besides, if you toughen him up he's more willing to accept being a king and such, but honestly, only mad men would truly WANT to be king, he wasn't a coward, just smart...

*polishes up Alistair Defense Squad badge*
If Alistair is made King (which is what this thread is about) he obviously has not been cowardly or shunned duties in that particular game. He's quite a bit more of a hero than Loghain "Crazy Eyes" MacTraitor.
Coming into every Alistair related thread and bringing up the mere possibility that Alistair leaves the party is like going into every single Zevran thread and proclaiming you killed him before he woke up. Not everyone's experience is going to be like yours.

Upthread I am posting tongue-in-cheek, of course. I was glad we got any acknowledgement of the relationship. I had steeled myself for it to be all business.

I even found it odd that my character bowed to Alistair. I could see that before they're married, but I'm the queen, dammit! Let everyone else get down on one knee... while they're bowing with heads lowered is the perfect opportunity for an Orlesian kiss with the lord husband!
Well, traditionally a Queen would always bow to her King in public - but I understand what you're saying completely.

For all the squeeing I did that he actually has some sweet lines and a chaste kiss, storywise his appearance is so pointless it's almost annoying.

I think I imagined this out because it seems strange that your PC is nowhere to be seen in the coronation, so I figured she must be in the crowd. Oh, and because, as I mentioned, my mind wanders during clerical work.

But still, it's Alistair. Anyone else under the impression he would object to such formality from his wife/lover/friend? It seems somehow out of character.

Not if he is harden, he is quite formal.

That so? It never made any difference beside the fact that he's more willing to be king and stand up for what he wants. If anything hardened Alistair is more the type not to care about decorum and kiss you full on. He's the King now - who would stop him? ;-) Ok, Arl Eamon may give him a lecture.Walina wrote...

Oh well, doesn't really matter. It's a fast food appearance anyway - sweet, brief, squee-worthy but still somehow unsatisfying.

darkmax - the reason Alister is appealing is that as you love him, he blossoms into someone worthy of that love.

Mistress, he refers to you as "my love" and wife is kinda cute. He calls you "Wife" and "Love."
But as you said most of us are queens (that didn't sound right). The only thing you get the Senschel says you have the same power as an Arlessa. I imported Queen, Chancellor, Lover & Cousland. Also imported Mistress/Chencellor they all refer to you as commander.
