Am I the only one who dislikes the new "talking system" ?

I like to play with my char zoomed out, so when I play is fairly disconnected from the ambient, so to say. I love to be able to click on a party member and get into it. Look at their faces, feel more in depth.

I haven't been playing for long so I don't know if the normal talking menu is 100% gone, but for now I click on Anders (the only one in my party after I kicked Oghren and ordered Nathaniel hanged) and he just have ambient dialog... and it sucks!!! It sucks big time... it seems that they have nothing to say. You can't stop in a nice place and have a talk with him.

Why not a combination of both systems? Removing the party menu is taking that complicity, closeness and "okay, now that I've killed a lot of monsters, I'd like to rest a bit and get to know you", kind of thing...

Please, please don't do what you've done in Awakening in DA 2...

EDIT: Also, I got the impression this "system" was implemented because of a matter of "omg we have no time to write, lets just put some ambient dialogs and we're done, woot!" kind of thing... :-(

I totally agree. Getting to know your party members is an important part of Origins. And no, you will never be able to start up a convo. They will in the keep if you raise approval. That is the only way to talk to them, or the interactive places in the missions. That is cool, but you just can't get to know them well enough, and game replayablility suffers. Combine them, that would be best.
