My business side would tell you and everyone else out there not to buy it so as to discourage this type of production in the future. I would rather wait a couple months and have the Q&A issues addressed. I had no less than 5 major graphics bugs and glitches within the opening quest. That is deplorable!

We've been waiting over four months for them to fix the original game, I expect the same level of support for the expansion (none) which is why I didn't waste my money. From what I've read almost all of the bugs carry over to the expansion, including the glitched endings. As much as I was trying to be optomistic I knew the expansion would be more of the same...

Thanks I'll probably wait until its on sale somewhere to buy it. On amazon.ca they have Awakening costing the same as Origins <_<

As soon as I heard that EA bough Bioware I knew nothing good would come of it, sure Bioware has money backing them now but support has gone to sh*t, actually support is non-existant. Bioware used to be about the games, now EA has made them all about the money, this game is a perfect example. This expansion was announced about two months after the release of the main game which was very quick, most likely planned to squeeze more money out of us, which most likely left no time for a good testing of the game, which is evident from the amount and scale of the bugs. Also with an expansion and dlc being shoved out the door so fast no one is working to fix the bugs, my guess is they're working on the sequel to get even more money and completely ruin Bioware's rep.
Just shut up and buy more DLC! Nah, kidding. I agree with you that once I found out EA buying bioware I knew nothing good would come of it. They maybe the same crew"(bioware) but now they all have money hungry greedy bosses forcing quotas on the bio team. Slap some crap down, copy paste and put it up for DLC.
"Rush, rush, rush!!! Oh, wait! It's not ready!?! Bah, ship it anway we have other projects to rush to sucker more customers."
Bundle up a bunch of rushed crap and call it a expanshion, but sell it at near a full games price. Those guys must be rollling in profit.

I guess it took EA a couple years to get their business model in place with Bioware. Too bad. Its amazing when you do a Google search on old threads and realize how prophetic some of them were.

I think the bolded part in this response sums it up perfectly (from 10/12/2007):
Are some of you young? Blind? stupid non-gamers? I don't get it.. who in god's name thinks this is GOOD for Bioware? "magical EA will come in and give bioware lots of monies to make millions of good games every 5 days!"
It's a load of crap, that's not how it works. Many of us know this because we've been around since the beginning, we've seen our favorite developers get eaten up, digested and shat out by EA and it bothers us.
1. This isn't good for Bioware, they just lost all decision making power for their games. It doesn't end with budget and timeline, expect the bigcheese to tell you when a game is finished and when it isn't.
2. This isn't good for customers. Most of us HATE anything that comes out of EA. Occasionally you'll get a great EA pet project, or something from a newly aquired developer, most of the time you don't.
3. Anything franchise from under EA is garbage. Original EA games or newly aquired dev projects are usually good, however, you can be guaranteed a garbage sequel that wouldn't be worthy of being a $25 expansion pack. If Bioware has fallen in love with any of its franchises, it can expect it to die quickly. They are allowed one, maybe two original games before EA decided they're too costly.
4. EA loves "Finish it later" and they will say it a lot.. after they have gotten Bioware to create a new frachise they can milk. This is a PROMISE, that's how they work.
5. EA will give Bioware more money and time to finish their next project, an original game. If they don't deliver, EA will completely destroy them.. Delivery means: Plenty of hype and excitement, a good idea people like, ability to milk it in the future, success (wont necessarily have to make a ton of money off the bat).. Bioware has one chance for this, if they miss it, they're over with. if they nail it, you can expect EA to change their attitudes really quickly about Bioware's freedom when it comes time to make the sequel.

It will be the same old story. Bioware will pitch project "X", you know, the next great story-driven game, and EA execs will say "Mehhhhh but another Neverwinter mod will cost 80% less. Let's do that. Oh, and you're all fired."
