A "Romance Only" Pack is just stupid. Not because it's a bad idea, not because I wouldn't get it, but because it would probably be a monetary risk that wouldn't pay off. There would definitely have to be something to attract the shootey boomers.

Mass Effect 2, the worlds first Western Dating Sim!

Next up will be Mass Effect 3, rather then fight the Reapers, you must find the correct combination of lines and gifts to get a girl/guy from 1-100 love, and afterwards get a raunchy sex scene that will make the game get an AO rating, and then you get to do it again with your new character, rather then fight, you will have a great inventory management game to make it count as an RPG/Dating Sim, as we all know, story and combat don't make an RPG an RPG its all about the inventory system used.

What does story or deep character development matter when you have romance, arguably the thing that makes half your squad have no development whatsoever unless you're banging them, and removes actual character development from the rest of the squad so they can put in that raunchy sex scene.

/not very excited and really hoping this is not the future of Bioware.

I love how some people jump to conclusions that this a given. The two BW guys don't seem like they're even on the same page about it. I wouldn't mind added romance/relationship/friendship options/subplots within a given mission pack, but a pack of JUST romance is odd. I'm not interested in rpg/shooters that put an emphasis on pseudo romance. There's SIMS and other games out there for social gaming. Some party banter, romance, friendship, and etc is fine in moderation but a romance dlc is taking it to the extreme. They've said they won't be doing a 'horde mode' for the shooter freaks so why cater to those obsessed with their LI?

I think people just want a more fleshed out (no pun intended) romance that fits in and contributes to the overall narrative that is Mass Effect 2. For instance, there's a significant amount of romantic interaction in Empire Strikes Back but it's not the movie's main focus. It does however add another layer to the story and makes the overall movie a richer experience.

Yeah, true, but there are countless side quests from ME1 that never had any consequences in ME2 other then perhaps a random email.  Balak from BdTS, Toombs, or  even the serial killer from Purgatory in ME2, the fact that you can be a sole survivor of Akuze and it never comes up with TIM.

Wouldn't that make for a richer experience?  Wouldn't that make it feel like there are consequences for your actions?

I think so.

Yet Bioware has repeatedly failed to address BDtS or any others.

If they put out a romance pack and fail to address any of the above mentioned dlc and quests from ME1 I'll be losing a lot of faith in BW and chalk up their ''your choices matter'' to PR and Marketing BS.

A romance pack, eh? If done well I would probably get but unfortunately it probably won't give me my femshep x tali. Here is to ME3.

Hah. Hate to jump on the bandwagon, but I support a Tali romance for fem Shepard. I'm rolling a male Shep and honestly, I don't like it nearly as much as my fem Shepard. Nevermind preferring to play a female, it really comes down to the VA. I love Jennifer Hale, she's fantastic. Not so big on Mark Meer. Is he terrible? Nah, I just think Hale is better.

I love the idea for romance packs for both ME2 and DAO, if people don't like romance in the games they don't have to buy the DLC easy as that. But personally I would buy them and think it's a great idea!

I like the idea and would definately pick it up, anything that adds more character depth is a good thing in my book. But I wouldn't hold my breath on it. Anyone that follows the gaming industry and sees or reads or hears a lot of the interviews that the good doctors give will know, that 90 - 95% of the stuff they talk about or say is an idea they have interest in never ever sees the light of day.

They are always saying something is "interesting" or that they would consider or are looking into this and that concept, which is probably true, but for all the talking they do about all these concepts, when it comes down to brass tax, they don't deliver them into actual production.

I don't mean that as a knock on them, I'm sure they look into most of them and determine they just won't work for one reason or another, but the reality is there is a lot more talk than content. So while I hope it get's done, I wouldn't even consider this to be a rumor that they might be making it just yet.

I think it's a great idea!

But instead of "new" romance options why not focus on the existing ones?

Sim date would be appropriate and a freakin great idea to add into ME2 AFTER the conflict of the final mission is done. For example, after ME2 you can either explore more of the galaxy thanks to the help of more DLC to do stuff with your crew OR you could spend time with your love interest since you know, no serious **** is going to happen until ME3. What couple doesn't spend time together during down time? Especial ones that want to advance their relationship even more.

I mean, in the end it is the story of "YOUR" Shepard right?   Why not have your Shepard do some stuff with his/her love interest during down time?

It needs to be done properly - the romances should support the story, NOT be the focus of it. If it's more missions with accompanying romance sub-plots [new ones are fine if they are done properly] and continuations for our current ones [honestly, if you could add something nice for the ME1 romance people too that would be swell!] - I would be all for it! More Tali time for one playthrough and hopefully some nice correspondence with Liara for another \\o/

I'd like some extra options after they slept together, like all the stuff you could do/talk about in Dragon Age. The sex scene wasn't the end of the relationship, it was the beginning.

Oh, and if you don't like it, nobody is forcing it on your PC/Console, I assure you.

A romance pack would be great if it's heterosexual only. They did an absolutely amazing job with the Tali romance so taking that further would be a great thing.

Except for the fact that being a Spectre barely comes up at all in ME2, I can understand that some people just want a space-shooter...just explain to me how resource mining (in 1 and 2), gambling (1), dancing (1 and 2), keeper/book/medallion/artifact finding (1), drinking booze (2), shooting monkeys (2), and reading emails (2), are integral parts of being a Spectre out to save the galaxy, and I'll give you an equally in depth reason as to why dating is.  My point here is that there is a lot of stuff in both games that isn't really integral to saving the galaxy.  But some of it adds to the experience, and some to the story.

Many people, I'm presuming, found that besides the main story, the romances were the most interesting part of the MEs.  For me, honestly while I really enjoyed the shooter/biotic aspects of the game, the romance and story aspects were still more pressing matters.

Here's my take:  If this DLC is literally just a date, then yes that is in my opinion, a waste of time.  If however the DLC was fun, had some choices to be made, some laughs etc. as part of the date, (come on now, how many dates could Shepherd go on without some form of a ruckus happening?), then I would happily download that.

I'm not saying the Romance DLC has to be Bring Down the Sky II or anything, but it should be more like that for scope than like dear old Pinnacle Station...because if it is just "Hey ____, wanna eat and dance?" And then I get the choice between salt and pepper followed by jive or fruge, then yeah I'd say that would be a waste of my time.

So if it's made and made well I'd buy it.  I think it can and should be.

Romance DLC huh? Pretty nerdy but I might get it if it has content to interest me. If it only just adds M/M or F/F romances, then it's probably something I'll skip. Taking characters on dates and having dialogue options, yeah I'd probably jump in on that.

Hmm... I'd rather it just be included in a beefy expansion pack, but it's nice to hear how flexible they can be with the DLC.

Huge? In Mass Effect you can have two conversations with Liara before she asks if she has a chance on you. How, pray tell, is that a huge part? For me, it seems like Bioware slapped on the romancing art because they had time and space on the discs left, not because it would seem a good idea.

No, rework the entire relationship system in ME and then we talk.

Seriouse dude, if you had nothing important to say then don't post. Bioware already added some romance scenes for you people....why more ? the game has a story to go after the reapers not to **** tali, jack, miranda or what ever squad mate all of the time.

Relationships and romance definitely do have their place in roleplaying games, but this sounds like a bad joke to me.

Obsess over Liara or Tali all you want (I like them both, it's not that). But ludicrous DLC "dating" is not what I want from BioWare.

Seriously, they haven't stopped caring about their reputation, have they? I hope the price of having many... uh... enthusiastic fans won't be too high.
