I don't think it's possible to implement something like this without it reeking of desperate fan-service. Hmmm...

Maybe it could be added onto the game as some sort of 2nd loyalty quest?

Agreed.  I think a romance pack is a terrible idea. This is a game, not soap opera.

So what is wrong with fan-service? I mean we are the people who stick by BioWare and will continue to follow Mass Effect until they decide that the IP has run its course.. Sometimes giving your fans what they want can be a very smart move..

And pets! And vacation locations! And bars, where the sims - sorry, Shepard - can go out on dates with the LI! And weather! And cars! And I want to build houses! And have kids! See Shepard grow old and continue his legacy with his kids!

[irony off]

Seriously people, wouldn't it be better if Bioware spent time and resources on something useful?

I'd get something like this only if Kelly was in line for an upgrade from 'flirt' to proper romance, if there were double the romantic conversations leading up to the suicide mission, and if the culmination just before the suicide mission at least went as far as it does in ME1.

Throwing in a few special dialogs for when Shepard can sit/lie with them up in the cabin wouldn't hurt either.

Romance is a part of all of our lives, so I do hope some romantic expansion is created. It would be a perfectly natural extension of the existing relationships, so I really don't understand why anyone would object.

FWIW, While I've been in quite a few romances during my life,  I've been in absolutely no desperate "fate of the universe" deathmatches with genocidal cybernetic warships, or at least , none so far....

So I fail to see why some find the idea of a completely optional romance in a Role Playing Game to be so disturbing. It is an RPG, so let people play the roles that they want.  If you want to play it some other way, that's entirely your choice.

OT: Please for Andrastes' sake, Bioware, give us a ****ing preview function for our posts! This is just ridiculous!<_<

Well, if this actually comes out, everyone has a few options:

1.Get the pack. Enjoy whatever it contains.

2. Don't get the pack. Enjoy ME2 as is.

3. Go to Omega. Dance like a pro.

This.  Hoestly folks, if this does come out, and you don't want more romance, then don't get it.  Or if you do want more, then get it.  All the flame wars on the forums aren't going to make it go away if Bio decides to green light this, so it makes all debate over this effectively moot.

Hey, I don't play this game to date characters, but that would be really awesome. I can't imagine it would be all that expensive, relatively speaking. Just stage it somewhere we've been before, add in dialogue and maybe some music... more is better.

All good hero tales have that one special person the hero holds most dear. It's standard.
Peter Parker has Mary Jane. Clark Kent has Lois Lane. Bruce Wayne has Richard Grayson or even Alfred.
What makes a kick butt addition to building that relationship is when the Villain puts that person directly in danger. If Brainac goes after Lois you know Superman is going to be all that more motivated to take the sucker down.
My point? Well that leads to a possible option for this DLC idea that can satisfy both the action fans and the Roll Playing fans that want something that enrich their inter character relationships.

Say somewhere along the way your LI get's kidnapped or captured by pirates or merc and you have to go on a mission to rescue them... escape.  Or you get captured with your LI while on a date. Both action and LI interaction.

They could make something a bit more involved and not exactly tied to the main plot. It would work both post and pre mission.

Your relationship building could occur during the rescue/escape or in interactions following where your LI thanks you for saving them.

I support this idea.

I'm only against a romance pack because bioware could use its resources on other things, like expanding the ME2 universeso that isn't so cramped; adding life to the Normandy having people moving around; replacing some of the mini games with better mini games; bulking out the entire relationship system so that it is possible to talk to love interests that aren't in your scope; fixing a couple of bugs; expanding the ammo capacity för weapons; making the Normandy bigger... Look around, there are tons of suggestions people want to see that has nothing to do with romance. If they do a romance pack fine, but then I want to see other things adressed aswell.

I support more squad interaction in general. Additions to the romances would be cool, but just adding more dialogue/character-specific missions with the crew would be great as well. I'd love to see a post-game celebration! I want to get drunk with Chakwas again!

I want a romance pack because since playing Baldurs Gate 2 back when I was 14, romances and character development have been the most treasured things in Bioware rpgs to me. I can never get enough of the fan modded Baldurs Gate romances either, but seeing as there aren't any mods for Mass Effect or maybe it is too hard to mod Mass Effect in general. I have to rely on Bioware to release more character and romance content I desire. I am not asking for sex scenes, but more in depth character development, or perhaps a date, or a big mission that Involves you and your love interest. This is something I would gladly pay for as long as it is more than what was shipped with the original game. I felt that the romances in ME2 were quick and not as in depth as other romances I have experienced in Bioware games.
