I would love a matchmaking component
Would make me feel less bad about picking one over another if I'm ensuring every one is getting some.
To make it RPG-ish you would have to pick a couple that has mutual interests yadayadayada and a successful paring improves stats for both character matched.

Am I insane or does that sound exactly like a dating sim?

This could be very, very spiffy. Or completely horrifying.

I think I'd buy it anyway. More Mass Effect can only be a good thing. One hopes.

I don't understand why people think that LI missions and expanded dialogue would turn this game in to any kind of sim, let alone a dating one? There's for sure 5 new kill-everything missions coming out, a new squaddie with her own mission, infiltrator style, and who knows what else. One story-expanding DLC isn't going to change this from an action/shooter RPG

*smilie to take out any sting* :)

EXACTLY!!!!!

We had a full game of shooting and blowing **** up and we have more DLC coming to increase the destructive fun.  A full blown DLC pack and expands on every romance and gives a more relationship status to a current LI is not going hurt anything except balance out with the shooting and blowing **** up.

I can't help but facepalm every time someone uses the phrase dating sim in relation to Mass Effect 2. 15 mins of "romance" dialogue in a 30+ hour game constitutes as a dating sim? Ooooookay.

Nice to see someone using a bit of logic.

This is why I think DLC has a lot of potential in video games, especially in games like Mass Effect. You can add variety.

Gamers who love action? You get things like the Firewalker pack.

Gamers who  love customization? You get things like the Alternate appearance pack and new armor.

Gamers who love gunplay? You get new weapons.

Gamers who enjoy dialogue, building Shepard's relationships, ect.? You get Romance pack.

If you find one area isn't your style or doesnt' suit your tastes, but another does, you're free to only get what you want. I think that's pretty brilliant myself.

Don't get me wrong, I do love being able to kill everything that moves.  In fact, I absolutely adore it.  It's great stress relief.  I wouldn't mind more gore too.   THINGS MUST EXPLODE IN BLOODY BITS!!!

That being said....3-4 additional dialogue options, alternate costumes, and LI missions (particularly resolution type ones for the ones that need 'em) are on the top of my want list for ME

As long I can have a real conversation with Ash, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I support this.

I love this idea, as long as all the LIs are upgraded. I have a bad feeling the ME1 LIs will be screwed though.

Yeah, I kind of second this.  Introducing a new mechanic to the game, treating your squad mates' personalities like a list of facts and figures... it seems really jarring and out of place.  Plus I think any squadmate I respect would respond to any matchmaking attempts with "F*** off, Shepard."

Look on the bright side.

Even if they only do ME2 romances, if it sells well, that tell's Bioware that there is a market for expanded romances.

Which bodes very well for ME1 romances in ME3

Yeah, and I think the potential for a dramatic reunion in ME3 could be compromised if the ME1 romances get what would surely be a less noteworthy reunion in DLC.
