I love this idea, as long as all the LIs are upgraded. I have a bad feeling the ME1 LIs will be screwed though.

Look on the bright side.

Even if they only do ME2 romances, if it sells well, that tell's Bioware that there is a market for expanded romances.

Which bodes very well for ME1 romances in ME3

No! Brightside bad! It hurtses us!
I do have hope for ME3 though.Image IPB

Yeah, and I think the potential for a dramatic reunion in ME3 could be compromised if the ME1 romances get what would surely be a less noteworthy reunion in DLC.

Agreed.

At any rate, it looks like Bioware has been listening to the fans, checking the boards. Time will tell if they go through with a Romance DLC Pack or not.

I hope they do. Give some variety to the DLC thats more than a set of armor or a new gun. I'm interested in seeing how they'd handle it.

Well it might make the discovery of the two LI's in ME 3 more interesting if the did the DLC right

Haha, you mean like by actively two-timing your LIs?  Daaamn Shepard.

You know what would be better? Character expansions that weren't limited to only one at a time. Character expansions that didn't rely on you saying "I want your hoochies".

This needs more support. At the very least I want to keep making sure this thread doesn't drop off too fast so more people can read it and participate and let Bioware know that we want this.

I should caveat, however, that I don't want this added content limited to just romance options. I feel that ALL crewmembers, regardless of their Romance status, need to have expanded dialogs so they're not ignoring you after the third time you talk to them. Cause that's just stupid.

I support this. LIs are one of the reasons why I find games like ME so fascinating, and it sucks that the ME1 LIs were kind of snubbed in ME2; for now, that is. Hopefully more development would be made.

But Garrus can't turn away from his calibrations! It would ruin his entire character! .... Yeah I agree, 3 or so conversations is pretty bad... Even the romance ones only add 1-2 short conversations at most.

My newest Shepard romanced Garrus. He's no longer in a "calibration" loop but now in a "do you  really want to do this?" loop which I find even more annoying.

We need this pack badly not just for the romances but expanded character interaction and depth in general.

I agree with this...but I would prefer a more extended romance option with added dialog for all crew members...hell allow the crew to acknowledge your relationship with said romance and to put their opinion on it.  Then take your LI out on a date or something.

If they call it a romance pack then it should focus on Romances.  If they want to show some extended Romance with more dialog and extend the dialog of other crew members to develop them more outside of a romance, call it the Friendship Pack

Less Romance, more characterisation. Romance is bull**** to someone who actually cares about characterisation because it limits you to One at a time. The whole problem with ME:2 was that Romance was heavily tied in to finding out about a character's background.

I say More Romance with friendship Dialog added.  I agree the Romance was tied in to ME 2 but lets not get rash and say the Romance shouldn't be included.

It shouldn't. Romance isn't something that can just be added with a 'dlc' and neither is characterisation. You have to get the Voice Actors in, do different combinations and reactions for all the Romance Combinations. What if you Romance every possible LI to the 'highest point' you can before having to pick one?

Dude it can be done......its not like the DLC will come out in a week.....if we do see this it will probably be at the end of the year or next. I am sure the voice actors are under contract to voice their characters in all sequels and DLC

No, you require them to alter the structure of the game as opposed to simply adding additional dialogue, and the number of combinations of characters will grow with the more 'LIs' you make available. With Just (X,Y,Z) you have to record X-Y conflitc, X-Z, Conflict, Y-Z Conflict and XYZ conflict. That's four dialogues just for a single conflict if you romance more than one. And that's assuming it's only one Gender.

All they need to do is expand and continue the dialogue for the ME2's. All the ME1 ones need is...well anything.

I'm only using the term "dating sim" in relation to the quip in the interview regarding an ACTUAL npc date, and a poster's idea about matchmaking.

Taking Tali, Miri, or Kelly somewhere nice for dinner?

DOWN WITH THAT.

Shepard-"No Tali! Your nuts are in the red bowls."

Tali-"Shepard, PLEASE REWORD THAT."

I'm sure it's super hard for a company that is also doing a fully VA'd MMORPG.

And add animations, and references by outside characters, and extra dialogue from Observers, and modify the 'flags', and... well, there's a lot more than just 'adding' dialogue.

Alright but if in the end you can simply create dialog to fit with each romance possibility. You don't have make conflict or include every possible combination. You are looking at to complex.

Bioware is filled with smart guys. They can figure something out that would work, maybe not as complex as you say ...but something.

Right now. If you mean the thread, that is.

As for posting on the forums again? Last Saturday.

My laptop was being a bosh'tet.
